These things are the *B E S T* for spooled materials! I'm about to buy more of them... dang addiction to tying - LOL! Thanks for the video John and Katie!
One of the main reasons I like them us exactly what you are doing right now. You can't outgrow this solution. All you need to do is buy another box and add it to the stack!
HORDER!😂 I'm using the Plano plastic boxes too. I have been standing the spools on end so I can see the color and size thread on the end of the spool, but now that I see them laying down, that might be better. I have too many, but I tend to use certain types of threads based on what works best for the fly I'm tying. Anything on spools goes into boxes! Thread, floss, wire, tinsel, mono thread, lead wire, spooled synthetics, anything on a spool. I must have 6 or 7 boxes,
I like storing them on their side organized by thread type. I have to get my glasses out to read the color / size on the label. This saves a bit of time finding the right material and the thin version allows me to stack more boxes! I have too many, but keep ordering more!! It's nice to hear from a fellow hoarder!
I used to out mine in a cigar box, but I was always finding the right color but not the right size. Organizing hackle with these boxes is a big time and hackle saver! Thank you!!
I always just put the unused hackle in a cigar box, but it was a chore to find the right color in the right size. I've been using the Plano box for feathers foe at least the past few years. It's definitely much easier use. Thanks for watching!!
We probably have about 7 or 8 of these boxes. I really like the thin 3700 plano box (link in the description) so they don't take up a bunch of room when you stack them. When out grow a box, you just buy another box! Glad you like the idea!
Staying organized is an ever changing task. This box / solution has been in our bag o tricks for a while now, and we thought we would share. We hope it helps you!
I need to pick up my tying desk more often than I care to admit. You are absolutely correct though, organizing is a great use of time! I get a lot more done when my desk is tidy.
