    I have dermatomyositis. I was prescribed Prednisone when I was first diagnosed, 50 mg, then it was tapered off in a few months. I have never had any side effects from it.

    I went to the ER for coughing excessively. They called it Reactive Airway Dysfunction - Acute Bronchospasm. The inhaler Albuterol helped immediately. Then I took the first dose of their prescription of Prednisone of 40mg, which is supposed to last for 4 days. I had trouble getting out of bed & I felt pain/weakness in my joints. I also felt like my mid torso had been beaten & was just starting to recover. Thank you for also talking about short term side effects. Most sites talk about it long term, including withdrawal from stopping.
    I'm not touching that stuff again. The inhaler works when I absolutely need it. I'll be glad when this unexpected nightmare ends.

    I took 60mg, 60, 40,40, 20 and stopped because of the anxiety and now the anxiety is ridiculous. I hope this stops soon.

    Started yesterday, 60 MG for a week, then tapering off for 2 weeks. Definitely a lot hungrier, moody with a hint of insomnia. All these I can handle. I'm hoping to avoid weight gain. I'm working out and eating a lot of good proteins, very little to zero carbs. I will probably higher up my calcium intake. Will update on how it goes.

    ITP-immune thrombocytopenia. started at 60mg then bumped to 50 twice a day. Then 2 weeks of 75 mg once a day and a week of 50 mg. Will be a month in a couple of days. Hopefully continuing to taper.
    I have gained about 10 lbs, moody, sleepless, swelling in legs and hands, blurry vision, impulsive and anxious. So not making great food choices, which I am sure doesn't help.

    Don’t know what you mean by short term or long term? I’ve had it prescribed 3 lots through 3 months for RA until the other meds hopefully kick in. I can’t seem to come off it. Each time it’s 30mg OD tapering to nil over 6 weeks. Getting a moon face now. Scared of being on none as body seizes up but it looks like I’ve got osteoporosis too.

      Short term is generally less than 3 weeks in a year. Sounds like at this point you're in the "long-term" category.

Headaches, Anxiety off the wall, moody, disassociate and head colds from anxiety, i feel so weak in legs and arms achy, tingling in toes and finger, forgetfulness in alot. I was on 20mg of prednisone supposed to be for three days, I only lasted four doses because my anxiety was tenfold! I'm talking heart rate of 156...and I have facial flushing which is also making me anxious

      Luckily after a bunch of cardio tests, and work ups....I have deemed super healthy! But finding your channel helped me through those few days! But I also found out I had misread the instructions. I was supposed to be on it for nine days instead of three. So that first day I ended up taking 180 mg😳

    So, I was prescribed a 60mg dose of Prednisone for 5 days. It was to clear up skin inflammation caused by allergies. In the 5 days it did wonders to my skin, and actually my mood as well. While I did notice some minor adverse side effects (blurry vision, shaky, hard time sleeping) the benefits outweighed them immensely. My skin is a constant battle and just a 5 day dose got my skin under control, I had no withdrawal symptoms. Here I am 6 months later and my skin is getting bad again. I just refilled another 5 day dosage, hoping It has the same results. Can your body build up a tolerance? Just wanted to share my experience so far! Thanks

    • @PrednisonePharmacist
      @PrednisonePharmacist  3 роки тому +1

      It’s not so much a tolerance...
      but your own response to prednisone one time doesn’t really predict your response another time. There are so many factors that can change. Hopefully it will be the same for you and the benefits continue to outweigh the risks!

    I’ve had lots of side affects, insomnia stomach problems, Diabetes, bruises, osteoporosis, Cushing syndrome, adrenal fatigue. Myopathy, weight gain, tendinitis, extreme fatigue, paranoia, depression, moon face, anxiety. From short term to long term prescriptions of prednisone. I am a bad asthmatic, and now have Copd. But I wouldn’t be alive now without it. I’m 64.

    How long does Prednisone take to get completely out of your system after taking 40 mg for 4 days? Eye doctor informed me the dry eye it caused(sun on beach as well) would endure for one week. I do have glaucoma, new cataract, and cornea transplant in right eye..I also experienced slight blurriness, headache in back of head, and bad anxiety...

    • @PrednisonePharmacist
      @PrednisonePharmacist  4 роки тому

      Hi Lulu, yes, what you describe sounds normal, unfortunately. Usually such short term doesn't do much against your immune system. However, there have been cases of more infections with doses less than 30 days. It's hard to determine. Here's my video about immune system for more information: ua-cam.com/video/ovd7qdWZCuM/v-deo.html

    Should I take calcium while on prednisone? I'm pre-menopausal which affects bones as well.

    • @PrednisonePharmacist
      @PrednisonePharmacist  2 роки тому

      Yes! You should take calcium while on prednisone. The doctors who prescribe prednisone the most, rheumatologists, recommend 1000 mg+ of calcium each day. Plus you need vitamin D, vitamin K2 and magnesium to enable your body to use the calcium. That's why I created Nutranize Zone, the first and only supplement for people on prednisone. It's got these ingredients, plus more to support blood sugar, weight, and other side effects to prednisone. You can find it at Nutranize.com

    i have covid 19, and i have been dealing with low grade fever everynight for the past 10 days. Doctor prescribed me 40 mg of prednisolone for 3 days (20mg for breakfast, another for dinner) to deal with any inflammation i might have. However, i heard that prednisolone will suppress my immune system, I wonder if im going to lose Covid immunity after im fully recovered due to taking steroids? or will there be any side effect at all?
    Thanks.

    • @PrednisonePharmacist
      @PrednisonePharmacist  2 роки тому

      The immunity to COVID should still happen even though prednisone is suppressing your immune system. There are lots of ways your immune system makes immunity and prednisone only blocks some of them. The rest are still intact to make the immunity.

    I’ve started on 20mg prednisone in the middle of what would have been ovulation. Ever since that (2 months now) my cycle went from 29 days to 31 days. This cycle I tracked ovulation and it’s not happening. All negative LH sticks and no signs of ovulation. Do you think this can be the prednisone?

    • @PrednisonePharmacist
      @PrednisonePharmacist  4 роки тому +1

      Prednisone can definitely mess up hormones and cycles. Amenorrhea can even happen, making some women think they are pregnant, but it's just the cycles messed up. So prednisone is not going to help fertility for most people.
