In this video, I show you how I installed my kill switch for my 1999 Toyota 4Runner. It taps into the fuel pump wire and kills power to the fuel pump thus preventing the vehicle from starting.

Thanks for the video. I can now say the same wire is in the 01 4Runners and this worked great. Hardest part was finding a good spot for the switch and fabbing up a mount.

If anyone decides to do this, before you begin work on electrical components, you should disconnect the cars battery and wait a few minutes for all capacitors to deplete, otherwise you run the risk of blowing fuses or destroying electrical components when you make mistakes.
I blew an ECU fuse trying to turn off my TMPS light and my car wouldn't leave park. I am lucky a fuse blew and nothing worse.

I just had mine done by a pro car electric and he said there’s too much current in that cable for the 12v switch and there’s risk to blow it, he instead wired it directly to the relay.

The ignition circuit supplies 12v when key is in on position so yes. The control panel just needs very low amps to tell the system to turn on so we’re borrowing from ignition circuit with the add a fuse
