@@michaelross3512 I didn't mention Kymco, I know they make some solid stuff.. Chinese stuff in general I don't trust.. I do think Kymco makes the new Textron 700 motor but I'm not 100% positive..
Lol! We've been there too bro.. My first ATV was a 89 Warrior 350.. Paid $300.. But I only threw the 400ex in because a mint one is a great option as opposed to a new wheeler.. You pay 500 and you gotta have wrenchin skills 👍
@@zachwinn9787 Realistically anything under 3000$ is kind of splitting hairs. Is paying 2000$ really that different than 3000$? I get everyone's got a budget, I've owned my fair share of 500$ junk piles my self lol But the person this video is geared towards likely isn't working on anything themselves, they're looking to buy something reliable that they wont have to fix for no reason. 3000$ is basically the start of that type of quad
@@yteka99 depends on all what you gotta to do. I work the shit out of my stuff. Between fire wood fixing fence checking on animals and yard work. They also have to be weekend toys
Thank you Dirt Trax Crew! Love the arsenal of ATVs you guys have on hand right now, some of my favorites! The Outlander 650 video was phenomenal! Truly appreciate you guys checking out our video!
This reads kinda weird.. Are you saying I have no idea what I'm doing or it's helpful for someone who has no idea what they're doing? Either way, I agree 👍🤣🤣🤣
I started on an 85 Moto-4 200 I bought with money from selling “my” steer that my grandpa gave me @ 12 years old. Since then I’ve had a Banshee, Polaris 400 Sport, Sportsman 500 and 800. A Honda 400EX, YFZ 450, Yamaha Big Wheel 200, Raptor 660 and finally a Raptor 700. Rode mud, rocky 1 track trails, dunes, and even in the Rocky Mountains. Which one was my favorite bike?.... The one I was riding. Bottom line, get what you can afford, take a friend and introduce them to riding, and be safe. Any day riding and being outside is a great day. Currently I’m cruising a Can Am X3 RC that I picked up in your great state of Kentucky. Since it’s the only machine I own, it’s also my new favorite. Hope to see you all on the trail one day. Nice video!
Thanks! I think that point was missed on some.. Also important is that this video is simply one man's opinion and in no way devalues anyone else's preference.. HAHAHHAHA!
This has to be the single most watched video in the atv world. But it desperately needs a 2022 update because prices have changed so much since it was filmed. This is the most unbiased, tell it like it is atv channel on our planet. They report the facts just as they are even if it pains them to say it or conflicts with personal favorites. I know you guys are busy but I really need a 2022 update to this video to help my buying decisions for my last two quads before I leave this world. Retirement is coming soon and I don't want to spend it without an atv.
I got rid of all my Polaris atvs, I haven't had good luck with them, 700,800,850, just couldn't trust them, and I don't ride real aggressive, moved on to can am, sons on a 450 Outlander, wife's on 650 xmr and I'm on a xtp 1000, so far no problems and machines just around 1200 miles, hope they hold up!
I think they will! We've had luck with the Outlander 1000r so far.. Polaris has had some issues over the years.. We've had o.k. luck with the XP 1000s though..
Great video love the different quads my favorite is the Honda had great experiences with them in the past. Huge like 6 here guys Have a wonderful 2020 . 👍😎
Got a 2000 Polaris sportsman 500 for a days worth of work. (I do carpentry) And after having someone go completely through it, new gaskets all around, new starter and solenoid , oil change and everything i could think of. Have $800 into it and the thing works and runs great. Original wench and everything works. Only thing that doesn't work is the speedometer because for some reason the 4x4 button is wired up through the speedo so with the speedo not working the 4x4 wouldn't work and witj a new speedo costing $350+ I opted to overeide it with a longer wire. Now 4x4 works and no speedo. Doesn't both me.
I just bought two machines in the $5k category. I had it between the outlander and Kodiak 450s base models. I knew the outlander would have the edge in power, but, I have a local dealer that has Polaris and Yamaha. With that, and the Yamaha build quality, I went with an 18 & 19 Kodiak. I am very happy so far.
2:46 yea don’t make the mistake I made. I bought 3 atvs from a company called Vmoto for a relatively cheap price. They were fun the first few months then they would always break down and we ended up repairing them most of the time. Now only 1 out of three work 😂😂. Lesson learned.
Chad great video, I think the best bang for your buck is the 2019 Suzuki king Quad 400 ASI on sale now for 4200 , KQ 750 with EPS for 7000 or the 2019 Yamaha Kodiak 700 non EPS for 5400 at Glen Bernie Motorsports in Md
Awesome! Great points.. I gotta be honest, I'm jaded against Suzuki because their King Quad update should have been a larger displacement.. I considered the 500 but it was hard to justify it against the other machines at the price point.. I tried to find deals on ATV Trader for this video too but most dealerships only post MSRP or say "call for price".. I think they do that on purpose to charge whatever they can based on the knowledge of the individual.. That was my main point I guess... Shop around.. Thanks for the info! The KQ with EPS is an awesome deal for sure!
I have a lot of Atvs, and seriously not even being bias at all my Suzuki KingQuad 750 AXI 2019 orange has never given me a single little issue literally 0 and it’s got 3,870 miles on it so far. Suzuki hands down most reliable ATV on the market
It's funny You say you're jaded about the 19 king quad but yet yamaha's gone backwards with its displacement 🙄 It's a great machine and deserves more credit
Chad have the best voice for these videos….he really captures the audience! If you guys ever wanna know what ATV to purchase these are the guys to watch!
Just got me a 2021 Honda rancher 4x4 power steering 5 speed I love it it’s perfect for what I need and has plenty of power it’s honestly shocked me on how great it has been.
I absolutely love the commentary for this video lol, I really want a 4 wheeler but Bc of cost probably looking for a used one nonetheless, this was great
I'm a Polaris fan boy when it comes to snowmachines, but their wheelers are some serious unreliable crap from my experience. I bought my first Arctic Cat, which I used to hate. Got one of the last year AC branded models before Textron brought it back. 2017 Alterra 700 XT EPS.... this thing rides so much nicer than the Polaris Sportsmans, and it's well thought out in so many ways. I realize with the sell off that AC is on some shaky ground, but I'm not so sure I'd count them out. So far I'm loving this thing. Granted, something like a CanAM, Suzuki or Yamaha would be much nicer, but this AC doesn't feel cheap.
@@DirtObseXXion the newer AC wheelers like 2020+ are worse??? So odd, I saw reviews of the 2020 Alterra and people seemed to say they finally got it right. I couldn't see any major changes. From my understanding the H1 motor is supposedly bomb proof.
@@HaemonAK Arctic Cat guys like AC. I've ridden them and I thought they were horrible. Very cheap and janky feeling, squishy suspension, terrible brakes, and very cheap fit and finish.. They've become a store brand IMO.. That's why they sell more Trackers than ACs now.
I'm the proud owner of a new Grizzly, and I have to agree it's perfect for the trails, my personal list per budget would be, cheapest to most expensive: Used grizzly Kodiak Raptor 700 Grizzly Maybe I'm just a Yamaha guy, but I just love stuff that don't break
Haha my garage actually has a 2016 raptor, and a 2020 grizzly in there to be honest, I love the raptor, but man that thing is pissed off😂 it's a little too much power for my local trails, still a hell of a lot of fun though
Nice, I looked at them too, but I don't ride aggressive or often enough for me to warrant that much power when I already have the raptor, plus I use the grizzly for plowing my driveway and reliability was 1st and foremost with this purchase, and out in the NJ pines, there's a lot of water and mud and swamps where I'm at, ultramatic was the way to go haja
Had a sportsman, now have a 420 4x4 Footshift Rancher - far more fun to ride compared to my Polaris. I agree, better to be riding whatever you choose, vs not riding at all.
I hate how everyone discredits the whole Honda line up like they ain’t shit because they don’t have 75-100HP...Fun is what you make of it! I can buy 2 brand new Honda’s for the price of a Can-Am/Polaris and they will still be running when my great grandchildren are old enough to ride them. Lmao! They have been building AMAZING machines for countless years!!!!! No one on the market can touch their reliability! If they ever did produce a motor powerful enough to compete with all the other brands it will simply destroy their sales! 💪
@@j_roddaboss2257 I kind of agree with some of what you said... Honda definitely makes great reliable machines.. I like their foot shift with the auto clutch and the solid axle on the Rancher... But buy two Hondas for the price of another brand? Hondas are top of the line, and priced accordingly.. I don't think Honda should be discredited either, but they're only a great value AFTER they haven't broke down for 20yrs, and this was more value focused for spirited trail riding
Owned lots of quads but really I can have fun on anything no matter if it's 8HP or 80HP. Had a blast just the other day running around on my Bayou 250. It's great for anything but deep mud. For that you can't beat the big displacement quads. They're a riot in the mud.
Great comment! Last time we rode my but he brought his friends trx90 out, rode the crap out of it and had a blast! So, I think you're absolutely right!
I have a Kodiak 700, but also have a 250 Bayou that Ive had the longest. I too can still have a lot of fun on that little bike when the wife wants to ride the automatic 700
I know I sold my 400x and bought a dirtbike, but I’m still a 400ex fan!! That’s the quad that’s closest to being in my budget if I sold the dirtbike haha! I’m not exactly Outlander 1000 money just yet..
Dirt ObseXXion everyone is too young for a cage no matter how old you are. I’ll stick with the sport machines for now, and I’ll try not to head into the cage life haha
on a whim decided to start looking into buying my first ATV. Somehow landed on this as the first video I watched on the topic. Lemme tell you something, this section of youtube has quite an expectation to live up to. This video was oustanding. The guy talking is helpful without being condescending. The editing is funny as hell too. Definitely subscribing. Great job guys.
was searching far and wide for a somewhat realistic opinion for an ATV to fit my small farm/woods needs and glad this video exists to give me some no nonsense advice for my budget. thanks
@@DirtObseXXion maybe! I was looking for something under 7k; utility over speed/sportiness. If it has a built in bed to haul a small amt of things that'd be ideal. Area driven would be on and around a wetland/farm. I'm actually going through more of your videos now
Well an Outlander max 6x6 would fit your needs but staying under 7k pretty much limits you to Sportsman or Outlander 570 models.. Both of which are good machines.. I'd just stay away from the allure of the Chinese price points, they cost more long term
@@DirtObseXXion 6 months later i found myself to your video again since now the wife is looking for one LOL. Ended up with a Yamaha Grizzly 700, runs a bit hot - but its sick
When they designed them 20yrs they were pretty good. I do like the look of the new Rubicons.. But they're best for trail riders who have no intention of going over 25mph.. Thanks for checking the video out dude! I hope to see that new ride soon!
avengingknight I agree. We have several people come into our dealership looking for or asking if Honda has or will have any larger cc utility’s. I hope they do come out with something, but who knows
Top notch video! I bounce around with rides constantly. Owned way to many..but as far as 4 wheels, the 400ex was the funnest quad I’ve owned, Due to my age at the time and literally never had to worry about breaking down.
Gotta agree that the Brute Force is one heck of a good quad. Powerful, reliable, tough, smooth and good looking. Never owned one but have ridden a few and I was impressed. Probably the only quad I've ever ridden that I couldn't find anything to complain about. If buying new it would be my pick.
Do you mean some of the ride footage? That's the Insta360 OneX. Great camera for some unique shots like that. I like using it in the project videos to add some continuity between visuals. I just used it in a follow up to this video for some trailing suspension shots on a raptor.. It's a "Best value ATV between CFMoto and Arctic Cat that I put up about a week ago.. We've also done some purely 360 videos if you're interested. They haven't been exceptionally popular, but it's kind of cool for the viewer to control the camera direction..
Personally the Yamaha big bear 400 is the best four wheeler to be brought into existence it just has problems with the gas filter and the fact that it’s gravity fed
Nice! No joke, Chad is like an ATV encyclopedia! I think the 55" would be great here but I'm a sxs guy. Also, why you censoring Brians Butt Cleavage? Wear it proud B lol. Hope to see you guys again this year
late 90's Yamaha Big Bear is an excellent utility quad. I bought one in 2015 and it's perfect for pulling trailers and logs. No maintenance costs so far other than patching tires due to thorns, many thorns!
I was able to pick up my Kodiak new in 18 for 5600 out the door it was a bare bones 17kodiak 700. For the money I can't complain. I'm from Cleveland Ohio I did have to drive to Effingham Illinois tho. No dealers around me were even close to that price. Love my Kodiak and all the extra money I saved 🤑💰
Cf moots are great. I out run my buddy on my 800 he has a brute force 750. Everyone talks crap about CF but they are good machines. I’ve been on Can Am Polaris and Kawasaki those machines don’t feel any better the the bigger cf motoa
I've owned many atvs, mostly 4x4 utility machines. Current ride is a 2008 Suzuki King Quad 750. Overall a good machine. Reliable, good power, plenty of ground clearance, good ride. Quite capable with diff lock if you need it though I seldom do. Great range on fuel too, can go over 100 miles on a tank in normal riding. I'd put it equal to the Grizzly 700 for a great choice in a used 4x4 utility machine. I actually was going to get a Grizzly 700 but the King Quad was a better buy at the time.
That's very cool! I personally prefer the chassis, power delivery, and eps of the Grizzly.. it feels less clunky to me.. But to each his own.. The KQ is definitely a great machine!
I disagree on the grizz being better then the king I own a 2019 king so far no grizzlys have bin able to hang with the king. I feel like you totally overlooked them bikes in my opinion not to mention in technical terrain a Japanese quad is gonna go farther with the locker over can ams three wheel drive wonder. To each their own I geuss
Yes, to each their own.. I prefer the Grizz over the King but that shouldn't the case for everyone.. It would be pretty boring if we all liked the same machine. I do think the best value can be found with Polaris and CanAm though, unless you find a volume dealer looking to push old inventory.. Especially for a first time buyer.
Dirt ObseXXion where I ride so hard tho I need a bike like the king so I know it will get me home every time. I’ve hauled a couple can ams home trying to keep up with my pace
Maritime Send TV I’ve got a 19 KQ SE+ and absolutely love it. Stayed under 8500 for a new unit and my buddy about spent that on his 2020 pullourass 450 sportsman that’s been in the shop more than the trail. I could t be happier with mine although I was looking between the griz and the KQ I couldn’t find power steering models or special editions at my price point and so many of the recent reviews have the KQ on top of the grizzly since the 2019 re-vamp.
list of atv's i have owned since 1984. 1984 honda trx 200, 1985 honda fourtrax 250. 1990 polaris trail boss 250, 1995 polaris explorer 400, 1996 polaris scrambler 400, 2021 polaris sportsman 1000 xp hunter edition, 2021 polaris scrambler 850, 2022 yamaha raptor 700r, 2022 polaris sportsman 1000 touring trail, 2022 suzuki kingquad 750 axi and my last and favorite 2023 kawasaki brute force 750i with no power steering in fire cracker red. no frill speed demon. i love this thing. it's light and 300 to 400 pounds lighter than 850 and 1000cc behemoths. from 2001 to 2020 i have not owned any atv's. almost 20 years. the 1000cc machines are overated, they are fast on the top speed, but the brute is as quick or quicker and almost as fast and way more nimble and way more stable and easy to ride at warp speed. the brute feels like a race utility quad. it is unique. my brother in law has a cf moto 800. it is a whale, not very reliable, the engine sound is horrible. it weighs 1058 pounds with gas. the big polaris 1000 s models weight north of 1080 pounds with gas. their power to weight ratio is much less impressive that you might think. and they have not so impressive handling. i will never own a 1000 or 850 cc machine again. too heavy. and all my big bore polaris have overheated severely even in the cold. the kingquad 750 is a very balanced versatile atv and very well made and reliable. all my japanese atv have impressed me the most.
I have a 2013 arctic cat mudpro 700 with 120 hard rode hours on it. It’s been rock solid. I haven’t even had to change the brakes yet. Only thing I ever changed was a torn cv boot. Runs just like new as well
I've been looking into both new and used machines based on my passed experience with used stuff we bought a used lawn tractor after about a year into having it we had to have a complete motor job done to it so based on that I'm not real crazy about buying used stuff because in my opinion I'm just buying someone else's issues and I don't want anything to do with it. If I'm going to buy an ATV I'm going to go with brand new that way I don't have to take a chance on anything. I can settle for something that has .3 miles on it from the dealer testing it out to make sure its going to work.
I've owned Polaris Sportsman 700, Ranger XP1000, and ridden nearly every brand. My hunting buddies have Artic Cats that still run after 17 years. They do the same thing my Sportsman did and have been just as reliable. Idiotic trashing of Textron doesn't make any sense. The greatest value in new ATV's is the Tracker line. No haggling, no ridiculous doc fees, insane setup fees, etc... Greatest value.
They're cheap, I'll give you that, but cheapest also doesn't mean best value.. The ride quality of the Alterras is awful.. They're fine for hunters or farmers but there is a huge difference between those and a Kodiak, Outlander, or Sportsman.. If they were good AC wouldn't have been going under and Textron's primary distribution wouldn't be store brands.. They just haven't kept up with the market.. If I was in the market for a 17yr old ATV, I'd definitely look at a Cat tho..
Awesome video bud . Only opinion difference I have is the outlander 570L . Mine was horrible I Bought it new in 17. Got rid of it 6 months later for my king quad . The outty bottomed out all the time and sqeeked/rattled/ banged all the time . I have the 18 sportsman 850sp . Which I’ll never ever give up . King quad was great and reliable just not as nice as my sportsman . I also have a brand new 19 wolverine 850 x2 that I love but yes I do like riding better then driving !
Awesome input thanks!!! I think Can Am has improved a lot in the last two years.. They separated from Bombardier a few years ago and it's been a very positive progression since then.. I love the Sportsman too, and the KQ, and the Grizz, and the Raptor, and TRX, KRX, LTR... Heck dude, I just love ATVs!!!!!
I agree with you 100% ! One would think that because I own 4 Polaris sportsmans that I'm biased towards Polaris?? The reason for this is, I've only been into 4 wheeling for 3 years now and my 2017 Polaris sportsman 850 SP was the first machine I purchased and wanted to keep the ease of maintenance simple with 1 manufacturer . Why did I buy this? For starters it came down to styling, then comfort, then utility based on how I intended on using it and finally price. I bought mine for $8399, which was about $2k off retail. What helped was that the dealership I bought mine from had every make of ATV available for comparison! Where I agree the Can Am and Grizzly had better fit and finish, the Polaris just looked better and was like sitting on a lazy boy recliner :-) I contemplated buying a SXS seeing that every body I know has one and having the wife +2 boys to think about I wanted them involved. Being a snowmobiler I wanted that same "one with the machine" riding experience and I knew right away after sitting in a RZR that was not the case. From a pricing standpoint where I live in Michigan, the Polaris just has the best option for what we do. Even considering resale, the Sportsmans hold their value. I do love my neighbors Can Am Outlander 450 he just bought though ! Excellent video as usual, definitely the most un biased info I get on youtube!
Thanks PAPA!!! If you're a snowmobiler I'd definitely say an ATV is going to keep you more entertained than a SXS. I'm glad SXSs are making the sport more accessible, but my money is on the wheelers! I'm glad you're enjoying the Sportsman!!!
I work at a ATV/SXS tour company and the guide bikes we ride can either be an ATV or SXS, its our choice. I will always pick an ATV unless We don't have enough for the day and Im forced into a SXS. I understand the appeal of SXS's but ATV's just feel more free and fun when riding solo.
I think the Yamaha Kodak 700 is the clear winner because you can get one at $6,500 OTD and my 700 With EPS was $7,700 OTD. Polaris has the better deals in the Big Bore has a friend of mine got a Sportsman 850 SP EPS for $8,500 OTD and my Sportsman XP 1000 was $10,000 OTD. All the Can Am dealers don't cut good deals and I talked to a dealer that sells both and he said that the Can Am cost the dealer way more than Polaris even if the MSRP are the same.
Good points.. A Kodiak OTD at 6500 is definitely a deal.. Would you take a Kodiak for 6500 over a Sportsman 570 with EPS for 5500? Can Am's have been historically harder to get good pricing on, but that seems to be changing as they move up the ladder of top ATV manufacturers.. They're actually out selling Yamaha now.. BRP split from Bombardier a few years ago and I think Can Am improved in general because of it.. They seem to be pretty proud of being 3rd in ATV sales so hopefully they keep pushing to be more competitive..
My bombardier 500 traxter is finally getting tired after 21 years of work ,still runs good but needs some work so I'm selling it and I just bought the polaris 450 h.o ,just for putting around my property and light work ,it was the best value I could find in this slim covid Market I hope I'm happy with it.
The best thing you can do is get a basic tool kit and find a common rig like an artic cat 500 or Polaris sportsman that doesn’t run and cost under a thousand bucks. Use UA-cam and forums to fix it up. You’ll get both a new skill in mechanics and also a nice rig to go riding in. Make sure they aren’t a super rare or uncommon model because parts and support for working on them will be difficult to find.
I should’ve watched your videos before deciding to buy my ATV... Either way I made the RIGHT choice! Everyone told me Can am or Polaris. But I wanted something reliable like my vehicles ( Toyota Camry and Tundra) but with some sweet power & fun! Thankfully last year I chose the 2019 Yamaha Grizzly SE Great machine!
I’ve got an 02 Yamaha bear tracker, she ain’t perfect but she gets me around. One day I’m either going to buy a grizzly or one of the yfz something something. I’ve had a Kawasaki prairie and a few Polaris but nothing lasted like my Yamaha
Excellent video , I own an XTR and ya it's only 686 but it's not a stone boat . 220 kms to a tank of fuel and no unexpected trips to the dealer . Looking forward to see more of your reviews and compilations of dirt anilation
Couple ditties to keep in mind. Most dealers charge 'destination and assembly.' Its crap, but most won't come off of it. Especially now during Rona season, where stock isn't as plentiful. Absolutely consider the used market. I found a 2007 grizzly 450 for 2300$. Had 153 miles on it. Needed a battery, or to use the pull cord start. Not a big deal. Runs great today. You're not leaving a dealership with a new 450 kodiak for much less than 7000$.
Good points.. I did this vid pre rona but the used market is definitely something to consider.. A 13 yr old machine with 153 miles won't be the norm tho, that's a good find
I picked up some used quads. A Yamaha terra pro for 800 and a old Yamaha that was described as a farm bike for 500. And they have both ran for 5 years with minimal maintenance. Really want an upgrade but still so fun
Hey I know this is an old video but I’m looking for your opinion Dirt ObseXXion. I want a sportsman 850 base. But reliability seems to be a big conversation with those bikes. I like the on board storage, looks and comfort. But should I just buy a grizzly and wish I had more HP all the time? In the end I know it’s my decision haha but I’d like your opinion on the two. Thanks great video cheers 🍻
I just can't recommend the big Sportsmans they're too issue prone. Extra HP is nice but nothing beats being able to actually ride the grizzly when the sportsman is broke down.. I can say some guys have had much better luck, but we had two XP1000s both had clutch issues, diff issues, the steering stems are junk and the fuel pump went bad on mine.. If you really need the HP the Outlander is a better option but they run hot and need a programmer (that's true of anything now tho).. For trail riding the Grizzly has plenty of power.. You only really feel the difference on smooth trails or fire roads. On real trails the Grizzly can definitely hold it's own. It's got a smaller mid section which makes it more agile and the powersteering is the best in the industry.. It's definitely not as powerful as an 850 machine, but with a few mods (big 3) you can about 10hp. Like you said, it's your decision and those just my opinions..
@@DirtObseXXion thank so much for replying. I think I’ll be taking your advice there and looking into the grizzly more. Watched your video of the new Yamaha line up and that blue and black grizz is sweeeet. What do you recommend for extra HP? Programmer and muffler? Thanks for the input 🍻 cheers guys.
@@scottrosenblath5737 Yes, on my Raptor I have a fuel custom intake, DynoJet PC5 and Empire Exhaust.. It added a lot of extra power and it's the same motor as the Grizzly.. Good news, Flying Brian grabbed a Grizzly Yesterday so we'll have a review soon! I hope you can ride one before you pull the trigger.. They're super expensive this year, but I guarantee it outlasts a Sportsman 850 by a long shot..
I export atvs from Canada to eastern Europe and Can Am is what i found to be by far the most popular. For some reason everything is considered 2nd rate.
Interesting.. I think that has a lot to do with CanAms recent success. They're #3 in overall sales behind Polaris and Honda and climbing fast. I'm a big fan of ATV racing and I see primarily CanAm Renegades at GNCC at Hunt The Wolf..
@@DirtObseXXion I think it is the looks. Can am in my opinion as well as the opinion of the eastern European s is that Can Ams are better looking. For example look at the Renegade 1000 is much better looking then the Scrambler 1000.
@@exiledknight3961 I agree.. The Renegade is better suited to it's intended purpose as well.. The Scrambler is just a sporty looking Sportsman.. I think CanAm would be doing even better in the states if they had a stronger dealer network.. Their dealer network is good but Polaris and Honda's is bigger
@@DirtObseXXion Interesting in Canada it is the complete opposite. Can am are way more popular then polaris or honda. I would say 3/4 sold here are Can am . Personally i also prefer it to the other polaris and honda., i just think its better personally.
Great video! It's been over two years since you posted this video and I am looking for an atv and my budget is 7000-11000. I do a bit of trail riding with my Yamaha kodiak 450 (not the eps because I couldn't afford it at the time) and it's great but when I take it out with my friends to the dunes I usually am the slowest and can't go up any big hills unless I have a long run up. so I was wondering if you could let me know what would be a great quad for both trail riding and going out to the dunes. I was thinking the kodiak 700 since the 450 is great just down on power, but you said it matches up better with the 500cc more than the 700cc+. If you could let me know a good option that would be great, thank you!
@@DirtObseXXion my friends have the the Grizzly and I’ve ridden it a few times and it’s amazing, but I didn’t want to get it because i didn’t want to copy them. But I value your opinion so i think I’ll get one then
@@davidnechita3257 I understand that, me and Flyin Brian try to get different stuff, but sometimes it just makes sense.. All 3 of us have Raptor 700s..
Thanks man! CanAm definitely makes the best 2up machines! Some folks like the Cfmoto 2ups, but my money would still be ont the canam.. One thing I can say on the outlanders is that if you don't get the upgraded shocks they don't seem to last long, our Outlander 1000 When through the base model shocks pretty quick.. The Fox podiums on the XTP model are pretty nice though
I’m not a “Honda or die” guy but I think this video is completely underestimating the Honda utility atvs. Yea they may not be quite as refined and comfortable, but they are reliable. Most atv consumers in my area aren’t looking for all these creature comforts, they are looking for longevity and reliability.
Yeah it probably is.. But Hondas aren't what I would consider reasonably priced unless you're number 1 priority is reliability.. Other than reliability Honda doesn't offer the best of anything, so that makes it hard to call them a good value... I did a reliability video too, and Honda was at the top..
Hey I have a CF Moto 600 and let me tell you I love it!! I go everywhere all my friends go. They have a Sportsman 570, Brute Force 650 and a Kodak 700. Plus I get compliments on it everywhere I go. It comes with a 1 year warranty and I added 3 more years
Where do you guys ride? I'm over by Owensboro. Let's hear it for the older, wider, grumpier guys riding out there. I'm agreeing with you, I'd take any one of the machines mentioned in this vid, but I do enjoy rockin my KQ.
I was gonna buy a new quad until I ran across a Polaris scrambler 400 for 1200 bucks. Bought from original owner and has been pampered. That 2 stroke is more fun than a new 1000 would have been lol 👍🏼. For 1200 I’m thrilled to death over it!!!
Yamaha raptors are unreal if your starting out like 250s go for 3k for mint ones and cheapest is 2400 in Ireland 🇮🇪. Just another option you could consider
I'm not really "broke" but I'm just getting into it and not looking for anything fancy. I live in Alaska and just wanna be able to get out places that my truck can't reach due to its size and weight
When it comes to value for the money spent there is hardly anything that can beat a raptor 700 SH.They go for around 4000 and with some maintenance work you can get it in a really good condition. It s gonna be useless for utility work, but if you just want to have fun the trails for the money you can t get anything better. It wont do well over the rocky terrain and in deep mud and it s probably not the most comfortable quad out there. But it certainly makes up for it with reliability, customizability( Switch the off road tires with road ones and you can ride it pretty much anywhere), great power and speed. I really appreciate the honest opinion in this video. No shilling ,just speakink one s mind. As a general rule anything from can am ,polaris ,honda, yamaha ,kawasaki, suzuki will be a lot better(even secon hand) than something from linhai, cf moto, tgb, arctic cat etc.
Well...I would have to say that I completely agree with guys. There are definitely some Suzuki and Kawasaki loyalists not happy with nary a mention. BUT, they are not serious players in the ATV market. If I was wanting a trail only machine, Grizzly no question.
Thanks! This is the advice I'd give a friend.. I just consider all the Japanese machines to be closely related with the Grizzly as top of the heap.. So those machines would be subject to the same disadvantages compared to the others.. I should have mentioned that.. I wouldn't say no to any of them but honestly Kawasaki Brute Forces and Suzuki KQs are getting harder and harder to find around here.. My local Kawasaki shop told me they're lucky to sell one Brute every two years so they just stopped ordering them.. Awesome machines, they just need an update or some advertising.. Something...
Dirt ObseXXion agreed! The only new Brute I’ve seen out actually riding-buddy won it in a raffle...now Ninja’s and GSX’s - they obviously know how to make performance machines, ATV market not a priority obviously 🙄
Must watch for anyone buying an atv! Chad absolutely spot on. I agree with and couldn’t express it as well as you. I enjoyed this. My brother bought my 2001 Honda...no fun on the trail! 😊 10 on this video.
Great job! very entertaining. Im a polaris guy all the way. Reason being is they have the smoothest/plushest suspension out there. Although I have not ridden the new wider Can-Am yet. Everyone has different needs/wants. Keep the great videos coming!!
Thanks Dustin! You're absolutely right, everyone is different.. Can Am came a long way on the Outlander in 2019.. I didn't really consider the Outlander as a great option when I bought my Sportsman XP1000 in 2018.. I do now though.. Fortunately we have both so me and Brian get to trade off quite a bit..
I have had a bad run of Polaris units. I run Kawasaki currently. I would pick a Kawasaki, Suzuki, or Yamaha over a can am or Polaris any day for reliability. If you are set on performance and options get the cam am over the Polaris. This is from my personal experience!
Good question.. Great wheelers but slipping in relevance.. My local dealership doesn't order them because the last one they had sat for two years.. Kinda sucks because the Brute is pretty damn solid...
I own a 2005 Polaris 800 I just bought and it smokes the 2021 can-am 570s I was surprised because can-ams are definitely the faster of the two I’m way more of a can-am guy I just got what was in my budget range lol
Worst ATV decison I ever made was selling my 94 Suzuki King Quad! As far as I'm concerned the mid 90's KQ was the ultimate utility ATV. Second worst was buying a 04 Yamaha Grisly 660. Because CVT'S suck. The only way I will ever buy a new ATV again is if I can get it with an auto clutch manual transmission.
I still love my old 1988 Honda 300 Fourtrax that’s a real unpopular opinion but if your riding in eastern Ky you’ll probably see me tearing through the same mud holes and climb the same rocks on a 2wd bike just as smooth and fast as you.
Oh game on bud! 👍 We're in Central KY so we could probably arrange that!! Seriously though, I love vintage ATVs.. Anything from the 80s is awesome and i don't doubt for a second that the old Honda will get you where you want to go! I saw a mint Bayou 300 Saturday and of all the built sport machines and new machines out there seeing a super clean late 80s machine was by far the coolest..
"Riding is better than driving"..... amen, brother!

Dirt ObseXXion got to disagree with you on kymco , their quality is way better than Polaris or Canam,.. by far. I've owned all of them.

Lol! We've been there too bro.. My first ATV was a 89 Warrior 350.. Paid $300.. But I only threw the 400ex in because a mint one is a great option as opposed to a new wheeler.. You pay 500 and you gotta have wrenchin skills 👍
@@DirtObseXXion I got a 01 arctic cat 250 awd and a 04 sportsman 700 got under a grand in both between buying the machines and parts todate
@@zachwinn9787 Awesome man!!!

This is a great video. Solid logic for each price point and some pretty hilarious comments.

Nice video!
Awesome comment brother, thank you! Hope to see you out there!
Can’t beat a foot shift Honda. Most reliable atv you can get. Hands down
No argument here
100%
The ole 82 Honda big red is still going strong. Pops off every time. Need to go through the brakes though
Reliable but not much fun if your riding challenging trailers for 4 or 5 plus hours.
Remember people. Someone could have a budget for $500,000 for a house. Budget doesn’t always mean cheap.

Great idea! Thanks kind words brother!
Great take on the subject. Enjoyed the vid

Thanks Chas!!! Happy New Year!
That's awesome! Thanks for the comment, congrats on the new machines!
My buddy has a 700 kodiak. I like it also, and I dont regret getting my suzuki. I would have been happy with both I bet.
2:46 yea don’t make the mistake I made. I bought 3 atvs from a company called Vmoto for a relatively cheap price. They were fun the first few months then they would always break down and we ended up repairing them most of the time. Now only 1 out of three work 😂😂. Lesson learned.
Yep...

It's funny You say you're jaded about the 19 king quad but yet yamaha's gone backwards with its displacement 🙄 It's a great machine and deserves more credit

Awesome brother! Thanks for watching!
That's what I got. I'm loving it.
I use it for mudding and going on long offload trail's.
I'd count AC out.. The older ones like you got were great but they've replaced them with cheap junk now..
I'm the proud owner of a new Grizzly, and I have to agree it's perfect for the trails, my personal list per budget would be, cheapest to most expensive:
Used grizzly
Kodiak
Raptor 700
Grizzly
Maybe I'm just a Yamaha guy, but I just love stuff that don't break
LOL! I can't argue that! I just picked up a new Raptor a couple weeks ago!
Haha my garage actually has a 2016 raptor, and a 2020 grizzly in there to be honest, I love the raptor, but man that thing is pissed off😂 it's a little too much power for my local trails, still a hell of a lot of fun though
@@patschoen1202 Yeah I miss my Grizz, had a 16 but that was a crappy year with that 708.. Traded in on the Sportsman 1k. Still have that one too
Nice, I looked at them too, but I don't ride aggressive or often enough for me to warrant that much power when I already have the raptor, plus I use the grizzly for plowing my driveway and reliability was 1st and foremost with this purchase, and out in the NJ pines, there's a lot of water and mud and swamps where I'm at, ultramatic was the way to go haja
@@patschoen1202 No doubt about that!
Had a sportsman, now have a 420 4x4 Footshift Rancher - far more fun to ride compared to my Polaris.
I agree, better to be riding whatever you choose, vs not riding at all.
I'm surprised to not see the ranchers on this list, I thought those were pretty decent ATV's
Yeah they are.. We focus mostly on trail riding machines tho.. The Rancher is great reliable machine, but not the most exciting trail rider..
@@j_roddaboss2257 yamaha 686cc and their cvt is just as reliable if not more so than anything honda has out there.

Cf moots are great. I out run my buddy on my 800 he has a brute force 750. Everyone talks crap about CF but they are good machines. I’ve been on Can Am Polaris and Kawasaki those machines don’t feel any better the the bigger cf motoa
Suzuki KingQuad 750axi.....most underated and under appreciated quad ever
Well, you're experience dates back to about the time I was born, but we have come to similar conclusions! Thanks for the comment!
Thanks I Learn a lot from this video. About to buy my first one I'm going with the cam am 450
I have a 2013 arctic cat mudpro 700 with 120 hard rode hours on it. It’s been rock solid. I haven’t even had to change the brakes yet. Only thing I ever changed was a torn cv boot. Runs just like new as well
Yeah the old mud pros were awesome.. Textron is cheapening up the Arctic Cat brand tho.. It sucks because the old cats were great...
Love my ‘19 850 XT-P MAX. Fair and honest vid fellas! You’re on the right track
another great video, love the real world opinions on these newer badass machines. keep up the good work, cheers
Thanks!
What an awesome gig!!! I'd do the exact same thing!
I hope so too, they are reasonably priced.. If you're not abusing it, it should be fine.. We've ridden ours as hard as we could
The best thing you can do is get a basic tool kit and find a common rig like an artic cat 500 or Polaris sportsman that doesn’t run and cost under a thousand bucks.
Thankfully last year I chose the 2019 Yamaha Grizzly SE
Great machine!
Great choice! Thanks for checking out the vid!
I've put a lot of time on these machines and I agree on almost every aspect.
Nice quick to the point. Well done. Owned a 1984 Honda TRX. Loved that thing.
Thanks!
I’ve got an 02 Yamaha bear tracker, she ain’t perfect but she gets me around. One day I’m either going to buy a grizzly or one of the yfz something something. I’ve had a Kawasaki prairie and a few Polaris but nothing lasted like my Yamaha
I just love all the raptor 700 subliminal messages all over the video 😂😂😂
Nice video, clear and to the point. A lot of good info!
Thanks!
Have pulled out many Honda Yamaha models CanAms too..I used my 2up Polaris
Nice 👍
Excellent video , I own an XTR and ya it's only 686 but it's not a stone boat . 220 kms to a tank of fuel and no unexpected trips to the dealer . Looking forward to see more of your reviews and compilations of dirt anilation
Thanks brother!!! I miss my Grizz but the Raptor is some pretty solid consolation!
The Grizzly would be a better option, same motor but it's not quite so detuned..
My uncle has had a Tracker for 11 years and it runs amazing
Tracker or Arctic Cat? Arctic used to be awesome... Those days are gone now
After watching this video I'm leaning towards the Outlander 850 Max 2up. Great video you got a subscriber.
What´s your take on the CF Moto Quads? I hear great things about them. Great video!
I did a video on them vs Arctic Cat if you're interested..
ua-cam.com/video/HzaG25Jorcc/v-deo.html
Hey I have a CF Moto 600 and let me tell you I love it!! I go everywhere all my friends go. They have a Sportsman 570, Brute Force 650 and a Kodak 700. Plus I get compliments on it everywhere I go. It comes with a 1 year warranty and I added 3 more years
Dirt ObseXXion that was a great video you did. It was one of the determining factors to me choosing my 600 CForce
@@tryingmybesttobemybest4664 How much did you pay for 3 years extra? Curious, I'm thinking about picking one up.
I have bought a 200$ atv.. A 350 honda fourtrax.. Its a bit old and worn but man does it run better than any atv i have ever seen
That's awesome!
Where do you guys ride? I'm over by Owensboro. Let's hear it for the older, wider, grumpier guys riding out there. I'm agreeing with you, I'd take any one of the machines mentioned in this vid, but I do enjoy rockin my KQ.
We're near Etown area.. We were out at Turkey Bay in most of this one..
Hell yeah! In the words of the Viking, "If it don't smoke it's a joke, 2 stroke for life!" HAHAHA!
Thanks for the comment! I agree with all, especially the Raptor part.. We've been on the Raptors a lot lately..
I just watched a video from a guy who went into detail as to how horrible the Polaris 450 is. Things breaking like crazy.
Thanks Peter! I appreciate it!
Great job! very entertaining.
I’m with you, I like riding my lazy boy on the trails.
Dustin Slanec You are dead on . I have a Sportsman XP 1000 it's awesome in every way I can't find a better ATV .
Dirt ObseXXion The can am 1000 cost more ($12,749) now because no DPS model you must go with the XT model to get the 1000.
They are junk. Never will buy another one again!
What do you think of the kymco mongoose 270 ? There is one for sale on market place for $2300 for a 2020 model
I have had a bad run of Polaris units. I run Kawasaki currently. I would pick a Kawasaki, Suzuki, or Yamaha over a can am or Polaris any day for reliability. If you are set on performance and options get the cam am over the Polaris. This is from my personal experience!
Similar expirience with Polaris.. Solid advice.
I been thinking of getting a nice wheeler and TBH a brand new kind quad for around 7 k or so fits the bill I believe.🤔
Dang where's my Brutes?? Ive had MANY four wheelers and my fav is still my old 06 650 brute SRA all modded out...LOVED that thing!!
I liked my Grizz but I definitely prefer a manual transmission too.. I've got a Raptor 700 and Sportsman 1000 currently..
