Man i hear ya 8 years ago i picked up an 03 Kawasaki prairie 440 for 400 bucks with no issues. If someone offered me 1500 i would honestly turn it down..
Yes, that 280cc king quad was an amazing machine. I sold suzukis, Hondas, yamaha, & kawi. that machine didn't look like much but it would out work anything.
I had a 2000 king quad 300 4x4... best quad i had back in the 90's era. Those sub transmissions are bad ass. We use to cut a lot of firewood to heat our house so we needed a good quad and trailer. When I got this quad we would just cut down the tree and drag parts of it back to the house to cut them up, lol. I bet money on the king quad. Little underpowered but for its time it was a great quad.
The 450 quads had their time. I built em all into serious race quads, people would dump 10's of thousands into them.....and I'd smoke em all on a YZ250 with PC exhaust. Bikes are just faster. They are fun but there's a reason the only 450 made is the Yamaha. Renegade and Scrambler 1000's are just as fast and 4wd (3x the price too). I don't think they'll make a comeback which is sad. Even the 80's had some awesome quads. The holy grail 250R, the faster in a straight line Kawi Tecate 250, the LT250, and then the bad boys.....the Banshee and Quadzilla. Wish they'd have kept making them all through the 2000's like the Banshee.
The sport 400 is the fastest of the bunch. The scrambler is the best choice probably. Ive been wanting to find one for years. I loved the old polaris 2 strokes.
😲Nooo waaaay!! I wanted a Polaris Scrambler so much when I was a kid!! I always wanted a 4 wheeler and never got one. I'd forgotten about the the Scrambler! Well done Leo!! 🤙🏻
I used to clear the big step up jump at Amerherst MX (ohio) on my scrambler 400. My girlfriend at the time said people couldn’t believe I was doing it cuz it was such a heavy quad!
I used to own that exact quad Matt got!! The KIngquad is an awesome machine!!!! Oh and Leo guessed exactly what I paid for mine in great running condition(abt 7yrs ago....) $300 !! It's not great at anything but who cares its a little tractor!! If you have a towing competition no doubt the King in lowest gear will dominate!!! Can't wait to see what you guys do!!!
Steve had the right idea looking for a 2-stroke. If only I still had my 2000 scrambler 400 2x4 which I sold for $1500 probably 10years ago. Thing was fast for a big heavy automatic!! Edit: mike reed for the win!!!
I have several scrambler here in MN. My 10 year old boy rips a 01 scrambler 500 4 stroke 4x4. It's a great machine. Down side is that a lot of the parts are not avaliable. There are several models that share the same parts, so used parts are pretty easy to come by.
Cannot wait for the challenges to begin....I think with what Doug got and his remaining budget he will be a run away winner. Although I could be wrong. Also....Sous.... love the energy!!!!
Me and my friends did this last year! $1,500 budget and headed to Busco Beach. Was called “Beaters and Beers”. One of the most fun times we have ever had 😂
Growing up my dad had the 425 magnum my brother had the 325 trail boss uncle had the 400 scrambler 4x4 and I had a 250 trail blazer. Man what a trip down memory lane.
Since nearly everyone maxed out budgets, you guys should do some intro spot challenges for some extra fix up cash. As is drag race or something would be sweet for like $500
I picked up a 2001 Grizzly 600 in 2016 for $1,900 (sold it 3 years later for $2,500) but that thing was a beast. It's actually fairly light in the front end and the straight rear axle made sliding in corners a breeze. You'll have fun with it I'm sure!
I’m doing a 1500$ build myself, picked up a decent 650 prairie Kawasaki for 500$ newer tires cost me 300$ for some bighorns. Not sure what I’ll add next
i got a 97 polaris sportsman 500 for $400 and it ran and drove the only thing that was broken was the wiring that was 2 years ago still running strong, tons of power
Shocked to not see a Wolverine 350/450, or a rancher, recon, something like, to many junk polarass around the shop. Stoked to see the rest of this series.
I overlooked your channel for a bit because I wasent into side by side stuff, maybe the name threw me off. loved the cheap sled stuff and i'm loving this as well. Just wanted to let you know you've got new guy watching.
Boy, I thought Papa Leo aced this one until you started covering all that was not perfect on the Scrambler. This could be a close challenge. Turns out, $1500 don't get much in Michigan. 😅
Nice, this is going to be the best challenge ever. I have a 1998 polarirs 400 sport 2 stroke but will not engage forward, only reverse, and I can't find the parts or a used transmission anywhere to fix it but is like new
Good choice Doug. I had the same quad 10 years ago when I was 13 years old and it was a beast. Ended up blowing the piston rings and I could still drift it on pavement and do wheelies all day. They don't make them like they used to
I'm pretty jealous of Doug's quad... I'm in the Davison/otisville area and finding a cheap 4wd quad isn't easy right now. Can't wait to see them flying through the woods.
The 4x4 is magnetic in the shock towers the chains run all the time and you push the 4x4 button on the handle bars on Nick's Polaris I have a 93 Polaris 350L trailboss which has the same drive train
@thegrantdanielsband the whole point is cheap quad challenge also you do realize these quads have like 20-30hp at most aside from the scrambler 400 2 stroke
That’s what I’m talking about. Lol not really into the snowmobiles but of course I still watch and enjoy the content. Definitely more interested in the quads 👊
I swear I laugh with y'all more than any other channel. Hilarious and great content. Should've done a pull start test. Doug would have died hahahahhahahaaaa
I'm so excited. I wish u could do this and incorporate ur fans like the danger ranger. If u could get the insurance to cover the event it would be a great way to generate revenue for the channel. Do it out behind the freedom factory.
Honestly though that king quad (300 cc) is in really good shape for its generation. I wouldn't call myself a fan boy of suzuki but my first wheeler I rode as a child was a 1988 quadrunner lt230e that I am fortunate enough to call my own today.
I had one of those King quads mine was an 88 and it was a beast. Dont luagh at it too hard. it made it through everything my Brute force did but a little slower. I would love to have that quad.
KING QUAD. You guys are seriously underestimating that thing. I have one and I love it. It is such a beast. Absolute power house. There actually fairly uncommon and $1500 is not a bad price.
Ngl Matt’s quad is gonna be such a turtle but it will out work and pull any of the other quads. It’s literally a utility quad. I think Doug’s gonna be sitting in the top spot if he cleans the carb and puts some fresh gas in. Grizzly’s run pretty good.
Little known facts about the 400 two-stroke players, 2 Wheel and four-wheel-drive They were the fastest production four wheelers built during that time the scrambler 400 four-wheel-drive would actually walk the dog on a banshee
As soon as I saw the $1500 price limit, I imagined the Polaris quad shootout. Those grizzlies were pretty good machines. Rocky mountain has an air filter and cage called I believe twin air for those Polaris machines, I highly recommend it. Looking forward to seeing the next videos. Great stuff.
Bro I had a 01 scrambler 400 2x4 liquid cooled 😂my dad bought it for me and my brother brand new off the showroom floor in McMurray pa was the first new thing he ever bought his whole life vehicle wise at the time see this hits home 🤘
The saddest part is that 5 years ago all these would be under $500 and would be good cheap fun
Ur so I sold my 2005 honda 2wd ( rancher I think) with a winch on it for 850$ if I had it now I could get 1200$ I’m sure
Ur so right five years ago I sold my 2005 honda 2wd ( rancher I think) with a winch on it for 850$ if I had it now I could get 1200$ I’m sure 9:01
Yeah man- I sold my 400ex just about 5 years ago for 2k. The guy I sold it to just sold it for 4k! Crazy... The used market went nuts...
Man i hear ya 8 years ago i picked up an 03 Kawasaki prairie 440 for 400 bucks with no issues. If someone offered me 1500 i would honestly turn it down..
@@danielsmith9500 Canada you’d get 3500$
I used to have one of the king quads back in 1990’s and it was literally a tank. One of the best quads that I ever owned!!
im a honda guy and even i have to agree. tough reliable old quads
Yes, that 280cc king quad was an amazing machine. I sold suzukis, Hondas, yamaha, & kawi. that machine didn't look like much but it would out work anything.
Lorenzo
Lorenzo
With that lineup a barrel racing challenge would be fairly interesting.... would level the playing field for the slow/2wd 4 wheelers.
Should do a cheap JetSki challenge next
I had a 2000 king quad 300 4x4... best quad i had back in the 90's era. Those sub transmissions are bad ass. We use to cut a lot of firewood to heat our house so we needed a good quad and trailer. Little underpowered but for its time it was a great quad.
That's my bet as well, that thing may not be fast but I bet it a goat climbing things with that's trans
That thing was a big pile of crap. Basically took last place
Hopefully this is just the start for more ATV content, would love to see the whole crew on 450/400 sport ATVs
The 450 quads had their time. I built em all into serious race quads, people would dump 10's of thousands into them.....and I'd smoke em all on a YZ250 with PC exhaust. Bikes are just faster. This is by far the funniest sxs blog video I've seen in the last couple years. When Steve said "$1500" I almost started crying 😂😂😂
The scrambler 4x4 ftw. I had one they’re solid performers. And fast enough. Faster than the others.
I’m calling it right now. Doug and the 600 Grizzly for the win!!! Done and done.
I like how you think!
I agree
That grizzly’s gonna kick some Polaris ass
The sport 400 is the fastest of the bunch. The scrambler is the best choice probably. Ive been wanting to find one for years. I loved the old polaris 2 strokes.
I have a 2000 Scr 400 , trail ported etc.
Slap a pipe and clutch kit to match on her, good to go!
I have a 1998 Polaris 400 sport two stroke and I will say the thing is insane it’s really fast and I had it bored out really fun machine
😲Nooo waaaay!! I wanted a Polaris Scrambler so much when I was a kid!! I always wanted a 4 wheeler and never got one. I'd forgotten about the the Scrambler! Well done Leo!! 🤙🏻
Cheap anything challenge is sxs blog at its best!
I am Pulling for LEO!!! My very 1st quad was a 1999 Polaris Scrambler 400 2 Stroke and it was a beast back in its day!
The furthest or highest jump challenge!!! Awesome video!! Can't wait to see the progression of the quads before the challenges begin!!
I used to clear the big step up jump at Amerherst MX (ohio) on my scrambler 400. My girlfriend at the time said people couldn’t believe I was doing it cuz it was such a heavy quad!
That would be sweet at the start for some extra fix up cash! Go send em as is right now for $500
Pretty sure the scrambler incident with Leo has ruled out any jumping challenges on these quads
Leo's back is jacked up from the last time he jumped... remember???
Pepperidge Farm does!
@brett knighten lol... Exactly!
Seeing Leo use a walker with oversized tires would NOT be fun...
im 26 now and i just tracked down my dads old 425 magnum from when i was 4! good to have it back
I used to own that exact quad Matt got!!
It's SXS Blog Time!!!
Steve had the right idea looking for a 2-stroke. If only I still had my 2000 scrambler 400 2x4 which I sold for $1500 probably 10years ago. Thing was fast for a big heavy automatic!!
Edit: mike reed for the win!!!
I owned the 97 Polaris 500 4×4 scrambler it had purple and black plastic. It was badass
Those 400 2 strokes run good. They are a lot of fun.
I’ve got a 2004 trailboss 330 and it has taken so much abuse and it just needs the valves adjusted
I built a 400 sport back in the day. I put 30 inch tires on it and she ripped! Wheelies all day lol
Hell yes Leo, I cant wait to see you dominate with the scrambler!! I have one and I love that thing. Ill be rooting for ya!!!!!!
I have several scrambler here in MN. My 10 year old boy rips a 01 scrambler 500 4 stroke 4x4. It's a great machine. Down side is that a lot of the parts are not avaliable. There are several models that share the same parts, so used parts are pretty easy to come by.
Hell yeah guys! I don’t know man, but I’m pulling for that Grizz!! That Scrambler is awesome but Doug’s grizzly is looking like a sleeper!!
Cannot wait for the challenges to begin....I think with what Doug got and his remaining budget he will be a run away winner. Although I could be wrong. Also....Sous.... love the energy!!!!
That scrambler is absolutely gorgeous!
Heck yeah I was hoping for a sport 400 in there somewhere. I've got 2 they're fun
My money is on the grizzly. Doug knows his Yamahas and those things are super reliable.
Since nearly everyone maxed out budgets, you guys should do some intro spot challenges for some extra fix up cash. As is drag race or something would be sweet for like $500
In my area those are all 500$ to 750$ . But the entertainment will be priceless .
I picked up a 2001 Grizzly 600 in 2016 for $1,900 (sold it 3 years later for $2,500) but that thing was a beast. It's actually fairly light in the front end and the straight rear axle made sliding in corners a breeze. You'll have fun with it I'm sure!
My family had a 2000 growing up so I’m excited to be ripping one again!
I always wondered why the did the Scrambler 500 a 4 stroke because they were so slow compared to the 400 2 stroke
Man I am so excited to see more of this. Absolutely stoked.
We still have an 04 Trailboss. They’re a great machine!
This is awesome. Was hoping someone would have a Honda TRX350. Definitely do a towing challenge of some sort like the tractor pulls
I so wanted to see a trx 300 or 350. But not for $1500.
I’m doing a 1500$ build myself, picked up a decent 650 prairie Kawasaki for 500$ newer tires cost me 300$ for some bighorns. Not sure what I’ll add next
Great video guys. Looking forward in watching the repairs and the competition👍😀
i got a 97 polaris sportsman 500 for $400 and it ran and drove the only thing that was broken was the wiring
that was 2 years ago still running strong, tons of power
I was hoping someone would buy a scrambler. I had a 500 and thing was a beast for it’s time
Heck yes! Suckers are awesome! Leo you do some amazing work with that camera and can’t wait to finish this new video and see what’s to come 👌🏽😎
Shocked to not see a Wolverine 350/450, or a rancher, recon, something like, to many junk polarass around the shop. Stoked to see the rest of this series.
I overlooked your channel for a bit because I wasent into side by side stuff, maybe the name threw me off. loved the cheap sled stuff and i'm loving this as well. Just wanted to let you know you've got new guy watching.
Thanks for watching Josh!
Oh yeah boys got a nice new coozie for my drinks. Black and gold is sick. Thanks sxs blog boiz
Yes 🎉 bring on the next video
Hellyeah! Cheap quad challenge! I've been patiently waiting to see this! I love sport quads myself!
Boy, I thought Papa Leo aced this one until you started covering all that was not perfect on the Scrambler. This could be a close challenge. Turns out, $1500 don't get much in Michigan. 😅
You ain't kiddin....
Leo I lost my mind when you said wooly booger! Not many remember that tire from back in the day! It made me evening!
Nice, this is going to be the best challenge ever. I have a 1998 polarirs 400 sport 2 stroke but will not engage forward, only reverse, and I can't find the parts or a used transmission anywhere to fix it but is like new
Believe it or not, i have one if you need it
Nice how much you want for it
And your location
@506 power sport 🇨🇷 I'd be happy with 250. And I live In S.D
@ tyler hill ok, that's a great price, but I live in North Carolina. I'm not sure how far that is from here
That scrambler is gonna run off and hide from the others easy
Back in the day, GNCC racing the wolverine 350 and the scrambler 400 were top dogs in 4x4.
Wolverine 350s were the first thing I looked for, I always thought they were cool machines.
Yesssssssss!!!!!!!!!!
SXSBLOG FTW
My profile picture is actually of my quad
Awesome guy's can't wait to see the challenges!! How about longest burnout?? Last challenge of course i feel tires are going o be ripped LOL 🙂
Most don't have brakes let alone front ones sooo burn outs are kind of hard especially on utility quads like these only 1 sport quad in the bunch
@@brettknighten1171 With a bit of mechanical knowledge and free parts from their supplier they can make it happen I'm sure 🙂
@thegrantdanielsband the whole point is cheap quad challenge also you do realize these quads have like 20-30hp at most aside from the scrambler 400 2 stroke
Yessss. I just bought my first one over spring brake and I love it. I love the vids. ❤
Hell yeah cant wait to see more
Few years back I got a 96 and 97 scrambler and sport 400 for 500. Was a hell of a steel and the best fourwheelers I've ever riden.
I want to just let you guys know, you are producing A1 content as far as I'm concerned. Hope you guys get to alot more subs and views.
No matter what happens between you guys dont ever let any of these guys leave this group i love it!
You guys are awesome, I can't believe you don't have 3 million followers! Bangers every time
Dudes I have a 2001 polaris trail boss 325. Love that thing.
I’m so stoked for this!! I’ve always been a quad guy but there’s no content on quads but this could be just what I need!!
This is going to be great! I've ridden with a few of those quads, Doug and Leo will dominate. Dougs Grizzily is unstoppable.
That’s what I’m talking about. Lol not really into the snowmobiles but of course I still watch and enjoy the content. Definitely more interested in the quads 👊
I have the same quad as matt Mines an 87 quadrunner 250. Thing is a stump puller in super low
Yeeeeeeeesssssssssss💯👍😎10/10
My thoughts exactly as soon as I seen the title lol
Honestly never laughed that hard in awhile each quad got funnier and funnier can’t wait to watch more.
I swear I laugh with y'all more than any other channel. Hilarious and great content. Should've done a pull start test. Doug would have died hahahahhahahaaaa
My buddy had one of those Polaris 400 2 strokes all modded, that thing went 90+ mph no joke fast
Love challenges like this and the snowmobile one you guys did recently. Maybe you guys could do some type of cops and robbers event?
Big fan of the Budget Challenge series, good stuff guys 👏 Next up we need to see the dirt bike challenge
Smart idea guys. I hope we see every kind of cheap challenge possible. These are great.
Scrambler 400 all day had 1. Had a suzuki mule to it will never let you down but is no race horse it's a pull horse.
Awesome old atv. I had before Xplorer 400 2 stroke 4x4 2001 and Sportsman 500 4x4 1996.
I throw back for the quad challenge crawling the palettes.
Shitstacle course lol
Ya that's it
Leo has this in the bag. Those scramblers are fast machines. It’s still got some good tires on it. Unless it blows up, it’s an easy win.
Suzuki King Quad is going to take the win, hands down. They are tanks, comfy, and light. Super reliable. Grew up riding one of them.
Cant wait for this challenge!!
I have a 96 400 scrambler it wins if the transmission works.. I replaced mine but took forever to find parts for it
KING QUAD. You guys are seriously underestimating that thing. I have one and I love it. It is such a beast. Absolute power house. There actually fairly uncommon and $1500 is not a bad price.
I’m so happy somebody had the right idea and got a Polaris 400!! 2 stroke powa!!!!!
Hopefully I can get mine burnin right!
I'm biased, my money is on Leo for this challenge. Absolutely love my 2002 polaris scrambler 400X
“What in the Florida lift kit?!” 💀
As soon as I saw the $1500 price limit, I imagined the Polaris quad shootout. Those grizzlies were pretty good machines. Rocky mountain has an air filter and cage called I believe twin air for those Polaris machines, I highly recommend it. Looking forward to seeing the next videos. Great stuff.
I had a 325 4 stroke trail boss, wasn’t good for anything but I had a ton of fun with it as a kid. Nearly indestructible
I'm definitely counting on some of the other machines to not make it to the end lol
Matt’s king quad will last forever
I had a friend with a built 400 sport that absolutely ripped. Embarrassed a lot of banshees
Had a 99 king quad and regret selling it everyday thing was an absolute animal duuuddddeeeeee!
Buddy of mine had a grizzly 600… that’s a sleeper, it’s crazy fast with a ton a torque. Think Doug’s gonna thake this one.
Love it!! I had a 98 Polaris 400 4x4! Good runner!!! Can’t wait!
Bro I had a 01 scrambler 400 2x4 liquid cooled 😂my dad bought it for me and my brother brand new off the showroom floor in McMurray pa was the first new thing he ever bought his whole life vehicle wise at the time see this hits home 🤘
wish you had found a blaster, just to see how my old quad would have done. i bought it new in 88 for 1,700. now that was a deal.
