In the USA, vodka prices are generally lower than in the UK due to differences in taxation and the alcohol market. Here’s a breakdown of the factors that influence vodka prices in the USA: 1. Alcohol Taxes and Duties • In the USA, alcohol taxes are generally lower than in the UK. The federal government taxes spirits at a rate of $13.50 per proof gallon (about 3.8 liters of 50% ABV alcohol). • States add their own alcohol excise taxes, which vary widely. For example, New Hampshire has no additional spirits tax, while Washington state has some of the highest. Some states, like Utah, control alcohol sales and set their own prices. 2. Production Costs • Like in the UK, premium brands use higher-quality ingredients and advanced distillation and filtration methods, which add to production costs. • However, the USA has a robust domestic vodka production market, allowing brands to produce and distribute vodka at lower costs than imported products. 3. Distribution and Import Fees • Imported vodkas, especially premium ones, incur additional import fees, shipping, and distribution costs. • Domestic vodkas have lower transportation costs, helping keep prices down. 4. Branding and Marketing • Many vodka brands spend a significant portion of their budget on marketing. In the USA, vodka brands compete in a large market, investing heavily in advertising and partnerships, which are costs ultimately passed on to the consumer. • However, the USA also has a large number of domestic craft and small-batch distilleries that don’t spend as much on marketing, allowing them to offer premium quality without the same markup. 5. Retail Markup • Like in the UK, US retailers mark up vodka to cover operational costs and generate profit. However, large retailers like Costco or Walmart offer discounts due to high volume sales, often making spirits cheaper than in smaller or specialized liquor stores. Example Breakdown (for a mid-range 750ml bottle): • Federal Tax: Around $2.14 • State Tax: Varies; $0 in New Hampshire, up to $3 or more in higher-tax states • Production, Import, Packaging, Marketing: Around $5-10 • Retail Markup: Around $3-5 Average Price Comparison: • In the USA, a mid-range 750ml bottle of vodka might cost between $15 and $30, depending on the brand, quality, and location. Premium brands, with higher marketing and packaging costs, can go up to $40 or more. In short, vodka prices in the USA tend to be lower than in the UK, largely due to lower taxes and a competitive domestic market that includes both mass-produced and craft options.

There's different chemical forms of alcohol including poisonous alcohols, plus the brewing and distilling doesn't necessarily produce a pure product. In fact it's just about impossible to make anything pure.
@@YolandaPlayne making something 100% pure sure is impossible, but making something 99,99% or more pure is definitly possible, there are several purification ways in the industry which get used and since we‘re talking about ethanol it‘s an extremly easy task. Besides that there are actually several different alcohols in there, but only in trace ammounts. I highly doubt that someone would feel the difference of a composition difference of about not even 1%. And just for the record, all alcohols are poisonous.
@@pyrotex0751 However her question is why is ones that don't taste good are as effective and my point is that even minute concentrations of off-alcohols could be detected by taste and lead to lowered drinkability of certain formulations which goes toward their perceived effectiveness. A great example of this is Skyy vodka which is specially crafted to avoid off-alcohols. While it's possible to achieve two or three nines in a lab setting, doing this in a commercial product is usually not economically viable.
Is it really? I can't imagine vodka tastes like anything but ethanol and the water it's diluted with. When vodka is made, it's distilled down to almost pure ethanol and then diluted, there can't be much of a difference between vodkas.
@@Billiamwoods oh but there is. Poor quality vodka tastes exactly like you described it. Good quality vodka, while not exactly a feast for the sences, will taste pretty neutral and it will not make you want to vomit unlike cheap vodka.

Exactly. The cheap ones are absolutely disgusting, but anyone above the cost to make it and distill it a few times to get that neutral distillate will be fine. Anything more expensive is bs like Apple, you pay for the label, not the product.
I discovered I can't tell the difference between appropriately diluted grain neutral spirits (Everclear is best known, but one can get cheaper) and vodka in mixed drinks. So I've now plumbed the abyss of rotgut, and its fine.
I work at a liquor store and the shooters of Grey Goose are now in a aluminum bootle rather than a glass bottle …… no price change and costumers tell me to taste change either
The cheap vodka is cheap for a reason and it comes through on taste and overall effect on your morning (or afternoon) after. Middle of the road and really expensive are just dumb, but the low end of the top shelf are great. You don't have to break the bank for a quality vodka, but certainly don't settle.
I used to work at a bar that sold something called a "blind taste test". It was served like a flight of draft beers, but instead each glass had a different "grade" of liquor. If people could tell which ones were bottom shelf, mid shelf, and top shelf, they would get the shots for $1 each. If they got any wrong, they paid full price.... Most people paid full price.
This is true as hell I used to get ciroc all the time for mixed drinks or to drink shots. until I tried New Amsterdam the large bottle goes for 15$ at my local shop the 1.75L where the ciroc costs 60$ that’s a whole 45$ difference and especially in mixed drinks you won’t taste the difference. In the USA, vodka prices are generally lower than in the UK due to differences in taxation and the alcohol market. Here’s a breakdown of the factors that influence vodka prices in the USA:
1. Alcohol Taxes and Duties
• In the USA, alcohol taxes are generally lower than in the UK.
2. Production Costs
• Like in the UK, premium brands use higher-quality ingredients and advanced distillation and filtration methods, which add to production costs.
• However, the USA has a robust domestic vodka production market, allowing brands to produce and distribute vodka at lower costs than imported products.
3. Distribution and Import Fees
• Imported vodkas, especially premium ones, incur additional import fees, shipping, and distribution costs.
• Domestic vodkas have lower transportation costs, helping keep prices down.
4. Branding and Marketing
• Many vodka brands spend a significant portion of their budget on marketing.
5. Retail Markup
• Like in the UK, US retailers mark up vodka to cover operational costs and generate profit. However, large retailers like Costco or Walmart offer discounts due to high volume sales, often making spirits cheaper than in smaller or specialized liquor stores.
Example Breakdown (for a mid-range 750ml bottle):
• Federal Tax: Around $2.14
• State Tax: Varies; $0 in New Hampshire, up to $3 or more in higher-tax states
• Production, Import, Packaging, Marketing: Around $5-10
• Retail Markup: Around $3-5
Average Price Comparison:
• In the USA, a mid-range 750ml bottle of vodka might cost between $15 and $30, depending on the brand, quality, and location. Premium brands, with higher marketing and packaging costs, can go up to $40 or more.
In short, vodka prices in the USA tend to be lower than in the UK, largely due to lower taxes and a competitive domestic market that includes both mass-produced and craft options.

It seems common knowledge that its value comes from the purity and the time put into makin it
Smirnoff 100 is the way to go
Luksusowa is perfectly fine for everyone and the price is great!
Quality vodka is absolutely worth it
russian standard
Is it really? I can't imagine vodka tastes like anything but ethanol and the water it's diluted with. When vodka is made, it's distilled down to almost pure ethanol and then diluted, there can't be much of a difference between vodkas.
@@Billiamwoods oh but there is. Poor quality vodka tastes exactly like you described it. Good quality vodka, while not exactly a feast for the sences, will taste pretty neutral and it will not make you want to vomit unlike cheap vodka.
Good vodka actually has a taste
Grey goose feels mutch smoother and softer when drinking pure but you have so ask your self if it's worth the money. But there is an actual taste difference.
BRO BLESSED HIMSELF
I buy vodka for around 7-8bucks in poland and its good . The name is stock
You should do commercials! no CAP!!❤
How close they get to flavorless is the key.
I like svedka. The bottle fits nicely in the hand while you drink directly out of it at your friends' apartment.
I just get a bottle of Skyy , seems to be a nice middle ground.
The variation in price is because of smoothness. Most cheap vodkas are really harsh
Grape distilled vodka is amazing
Heyy happy birthday man, can’t believe you’re already 57
bro looks exactly like him i was waiting to see someone else notice.
Polish potato vodka is still the best
Exactly. The cheap ones are absolutely disgusting, but anyone above the cost to make it and distill it a few times to get that neutral distillate will be fine. Anything more expensive is bs like Apple, you pay for the label, not the product.
Why did this video raise my brightness?
Stolichnaya my preferred vodka (Russian: Столичная) is a vodka made of wheat and rye grain. It originated in the Soviet Union in 1938.
I discovered I can't tell the difference between appropriately diluted grain neutral spirits (Everclear is best known, but one can get cheaper) and vodka in mixed drinks. So I've now plumbed the abyss of rotgut, and its fine.
Some of the best vodka I have tasted is about 10 bucks but it is made in town. Alot of bars are putting it in the well
I work at a liquor store and the shooters of Grey Goose are now in a aluminum bootle rather than a glass bottle …… no price change and costumers tell me to taste change either
yes! this was my question! i guess i got a good deal 😂
People say Vodka is flavorless but I actually really enjoy vodka’s flavor
Pennacle and Rain. Pretty good value. Vodka is vodka.
From my experience, the only thing that matters is times distilled and times filtered with diminishing returns beyond 4-5
The cheap vodka is cheap for a reason and it comes through on taste and overall effect on your morning (or afternoon) after. Middle of the road and really expensive are just dumb, but the low end of the top shelf are great. You don't have to break the bank for a quality vodka, but certainly don't settle.
Belvedere is the best vodka you can get imo. it’s like $40 a liter but it’s basically flavorless and smooth asf
Water has taste, so it's not tasteless. Try brewing coffee with distilled water and you can taste the difference.
Fun fact, nothing you drink will ever be any of those things
This is true as hell I used to get ciroc all the time for mixed drinks or to drink shots. until I tried New Amsterdam the large bottle goes for 15$ at my local shop the 1.75L where the ciroc costs 60$ that’s a whole 45$ difference and especially in mixed drinks you won’t taste the difference. Save your Money
Meili vodka, jason momoas vodka, is $20 for a fifth and is really good. Highly reclmmend plus its a cool bottle
I prefer grey goose or belvedere. Tend to be less harsh going down
Wheatley Vodka. Amazing Top Quality Vodka. A mini mart has them on sale for $10 a bottle. That's a steal.
I always said that the best thing you can say about vodka is it doesn't taste like anything.
The name. That is all. When i drank vodka i drank Svedka. I had alot of people laugh at me at parties when i would bring it back in 07. But no one ever had anything to say but positive things once tasted.
Some are distilled more times which leads to less hangover. I think it needs to be distilled 9 times to completely eliminate hangovers. Theres a company called skyyy i think thay does this
Drifters Glen vodka is great
that's why i buy the cheapest rum i can get
Ketel One is what's actually worth the money. Otherwise, I'm happy with any 7X.
Fun fact: I used to use ciroc for nail art when I didn't have rubbing alcohol.
So if the Vodka has no discernible taste, other than a glowing sensation, is it good?
never had an odourlous or flavourless vodka
You can’t convince me to buy expensive vodka.
The More expensive ones usually are more distilled
Best vodka I ever had was russian made from patatos super good
