I'm not new to sewing, but I love your teaching style. The next time someone ask me for a Beginner sewing channel I will definitely recommend your page. Thanks for all that you are doing for the sewing community.
Chelsea is the cause of my addiction to installing ZIPPERS! Yall… she single handedly convinced me via tutorial that it wasn’t that hard and she was NOT wrong! I was in Joann the other day chatting with a lady wanting to learn to sew and I told her start with zippers they aren’t hard and they will make you feel so accomplished
You have such a wonderful personality! I’m 71 years old, I’ve been sewing for over 60 years! But Girl, you still teach this old lady a bunch of new tips! Keep it up 👍🏻
I absolutely agree. I'm around 40 and I have picked up sewing because I am not able to connect with people and socializing has off late seemed hard to do .. but when you come across genuinely human teachers, who also share their anxieties and wins and general bits about their day... you feel a little less lonely and you feel connected to your kind through this hobby
@@blooey5231 I know what you mean! It's like hanging out and sewing with that neighbor that you actually feel comfortable around. Have a great weekend!
I'm a newbie sewist and I've been watching your tutorials lately (haven't made too much yet) for tips and tricks and you have made me feel SO much more confident. I'm a visual learner and I like to know things before I start so when an issue happens I know how to fix it. I'm also obsessed with you as a person, the singing, the curly hair, laughing at yourself. Very much like myself and you make me feel comfortable 🥰 thank you for these posts and for being you!!
Cute bag & fabric! (With directional fabric, there is an extra step, you should watch to make sure you sew the zipper to the top 🔝 of the fabric so your hedgehogs 🦔 run on their feet! Same with ironing your directional lining fabric - check that it’s turned in the same direction on both pieces of fabric so when you’re looking 👀 in your bag when it’s finished, the directional lining fabric faces the same way on both sides😊. If you care, that is! 😉)
I have also been sewing for 60 years and so enjoy your enthusiasm. I’m also learning. Keep it up. With the cost of everything these days you make it all manageable.👍
For newbies, you don't have to buy a pressing cloth. Any remnant that you have that isn't fuzzy will do. Terry cloth towels are a no no. Been there done that stuff stuck to iron, ugh. If you have a cotton tea towel, use that. As long as it's clean it's good. Of course it'll now no longer be a tea towel; it's now a pressing cloth.
Yes, I agree!! 🥰 I have several different sizes that I have cut from old, worn-out bed sheets!! They have been "washed to death" & are super soft and not full of lint!
What cute bag, I see it be in my purse holding my cosmetics. One thing you should tell everyone is that the heat and bond is only a one time use It is a simple project. I like doing the corners that way instead of cutting out the corners.
I shared this tutorial on my channel! I donate to non-profits & these will be BIG money maker for a thrift shop that provides scholarships to nursing students! I'm so excited!
Lady you are so Beautiful...someone special one of the best ..Creative Teacher of sewing techniques ...with Greatness..that your gift you give makes room for u in every way..comes back to a thousand times more...😊..Thank you...🎉
I love this! I love apples! I used to live in Massachusetts a while back and now I'm in South Florida! I miss the apples from the north because the apples here are tasteless especially compared to picking them fresh! Nothing compares to fresh apple picking!!❤😊
Thank you for showing exactly where to sew the sides of the bag where the zipper tabs are. Now I know why my bags look odd at those points when I turned my bags. I've been sewing the whole side including the tabs.😂
This Heat n’ Bond method has been a game changer for me! It’s perfect for those “easy-to-sew-gifts” for this time of year. I’m going to use mine as gift tags that also hold a gift card or a lipstick (my bags are much smaller than this, but just as adorable as Chelsea’s). Thanks for your extraordinary clarity and encouragement! Happy sewing everyone! P.S. I ended up trimming the boxed corners and using bias tape to finish the edges. Good luck to all of the newbie sewists!! Welcome to the community!!
I thoroughly enjoy watching your tutorials. Easy to follow, great instructions and an adorable giggle!! I think I would hand tack the inside boxed corners to the bottom of the bag. Just a couple of stitches will do 🎉
Chelsea, I love watching your videos they have help me so much. I have been sewing making the bags that you have been showing us how to make. I will be selling them at a Christmas event. And I have gotten better putting zippers in with your help.
Excellent teaching vibe! So happy to find something to inspire and engage our younger generation. Everyone needs these skills to bring with them into the Golden Years!
Thanks, Chelsea. I have been sewing for 60 years, but a couple years ago I had a health event and now I can't seem to get back in the swing. Your videos help are helping me to get my act together. I am going to try soon. Promise. Your encouragement is amazing. I have probably 200 yards of quilting fabric I was trying to sell in Etsy. Not going so great, so I am going to make some bags to sell at Spring craft shows. Wish me luck!!
I’m a new sewer and just HATE zippers, however I will try your method and see how it goes, I have about 10 different zipper bags that I don’t show anyone but do try to use, I would love to make one I could take out in public 😅😅. I really enjoy your videos, thank you for being you
The fall season brings out the apple crisp in me. I don't like apple pie, but love apple crisp/cobblers. I live in upstate NY, so the fall is sooo beautiful here ☺️
I did a cheater lining by zigzaging the 2 pieces together - it was decor fabric so it was already a thicker material but it made for one quick project!
You have the most beautiful blue eyes and the prettiest smile that it’s a pleasure to learn from you and your personality makes me laugh constantly. You give a strength to those of us who have the doubt that we can do it, boy that’s what keeps me coming back time after time. You are totally appreciated from this 80 year old woman and I hope to keep company with you for a long time.
"so many uses for a hedgehog bag, specifically " 😂 I have made quite a few zipper bags, but have not seen this technique of using pinked edges and heatnbond to layer the fabrics. Great ideas!! Enjoy your videos! Thank you.
Always a great make and fun to watch. FYI, there is a variety of blueberry that grow almost to plum size, jk. My sister and brother in law raise blueberries in eastern TN and have maybe 10 varieties. Yummy!
I just found u recently i love love ❤️ your tutorials so easy i think i can so make it im in Ontario Canada i only know one dollar tree stores i will have to drive about 45 min to see if it is still there .u are so 😍 amazing and happy and a great teacher thank you 🥰
I would love to see you teach a French seam and how to do that hidden gem stitch. It uses that stitch that does several straight stitches and one zigzag. It was something from HS sewing class and I always have trouble remembering it.
Goodness! I am so glad I found you! One video and I have learned so much! Thanks for the positive attitude and wonderful tips and tricks. Please keep the videos coming!
You make me so happy Chelsea. I love the way you laugh and give everyone good vibes. It’s really good for all the beginning sewers to have somebody so positive when they are showing them how to do zippers. Keep up the great work and keep smiling.
So I just finished watching this video and I have always seen that type of fusible bonding in Joanne's, but couldn't figure it out. I absolutely loved that you used this process and will definitely have to at least try a few of them......thanks again
Hey, Chelsea - love your channel! I’ve been sewing for over 60 years, but still like to watch sewing channels to pick up new tips and techniques. Keep your mind open and never stop learning - even at 77! I went to your Amazon link for the zippers, but couldn’t find the one with the striped zipper tape. I think that might be a Tula exclusive. Do you recall where you got it? Keep up the good work! People are LOVING you! 💕
I love apples too; however, I have tested allergic to apples. I’m so going to sew this project. I have 7 young granddaughters who would love to have this bag for travel!
Not a beginner at all but I love watching you. My husband has grabbed all my pouches for his charging cords when he travels (which he does a lot of work) and he's always saying, I could really use more, so I will make more. Thanks!
I LOVE Tula Pink fabric!! This is stinking cute and I adore the fun zipper and pull. More cuteness overload please. Also- sounds like i need to plan a trip to Pennsylvania ❤ I'm in Indiana

You're re-teaching me those old skills and a ton of new ones! Zippers? Heck Yeah! I had never even attempted them because I heard how hard they were... ummm.... no they're not... lol I love you and I love your channel! Keep up the amazing work and inspiring people with your amazing personality! And thanks for helping me to remember, it's art and I can do what I want and it's all ok! Your projects are perfect for quick and easy gifts that I can share (or not share 😜) but don't require so much time like with my quilts. Also love your positive aura and laugh. So happy I found you!🤩

You can use your picking shears and cut the boxed corners.
That’s a great tip, thanks for sharing!

Yes, I just use a remnant piece of material. Works fine.
Just use parchment paper! You can use it over & over. Nothing sticks to it!
You do an awesome job teaching. Thank you!
I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos! 😄
Your face, when that loud noise came thru, OMWord I had to rewind and watch again. You are hilarious! I love you!

I collect hedgehog stuff & pinks & purples are my favorite colors! I'm in love with that fabric!!

love it - keeping it real with the abandoned backpacks and weeks' worth of laundry. :)
