You will NOT believe this!!! I went to the Dollar Tree today and got dish drying mats. And I was trying to figure out how to make walker caddies. I recently started a church ministry and walker caddies are one of the things we need to make for donations. THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!
Nice finish. Put some tabs on the sides so you can wrap around the outer part of the walker to stop the 'bag' from moving/swinging about when it goes for a walk 😍
Chelsea, you could make a video on how to fold sheets or balance a checkbook and it would be fun and put people in a great mood. You have such positive energy and a beautiful soul that shines in every video. I just love watching them!
You make doing Anything Fun! Everyone wishes they could be YOUR friend, including Me! We have the same type of ideas in making things. Doesn't have to be expensive or perfect for certain things to be made. It is the Idea of "giving" and "appreciation", "thoughtfulness" and their "usefulness." ❤ 😊 ❤ I Sure wish we lived closer... and were friends. We'd be unstoppable with ideas... even tho you have plenty of your own! 😅😂
I am making a bunch of different items for nursing homes to use as bingo prizes. I'm going to add this to my sewing list. Thanks for the very well-presented tutorial.
“Staring at your neighbor, trying to get in their business.” 😅😅😅😅 I almost spit out my coffee. This is a great idea. I managed to snag two of those drying pads. So, maybe I’ll try it. Thanks you queen!❤❤❤
What a great idea! My brother-in-law has huntington's disease and has started using a walker. He has a very hard time carrying things. This would be perfect for him.
I applaud you for giving us all affordable , beginner friendly instructions. I make these myself and they are expensive the way I do it. When you join the center, I would make faux bias tape (from your scrap pile) and attach to front and back over the joined area. It is a lot of stress and weight for 1 seem to hold water bottles, remotes and phones. Keep in mind they need to be washed frequently because of bacterias that like to hang out in care facilities. If you are worried about the bag sliding, you just wrap the self adhesive bandage wrap where you don'twant it to slip. They usually have it on their walker handles for antislip and comfort. It will still be amazing no matter how you do it. You Got This!
You just gave me an idea. One dsh drying mat with the pockets on one side would make a great sewing apron with ties to go around the waist. You are sew inspiring.❤
I have a girlfriend in Florida that has just been told that she MUST use a walker(she's not happy). I'm going to make one of these and send it to her. 🥰🥰🥰
Chelsea - you are the best! I won't have time to make a bunch of these for Christmas but it is now my goal to make a bunch of these to show the love come Valentine's Day. I will make them and donate them to nursing homes.
Hi from Western Australia , we don't have dollar tree so I will probably just quilt some fabric from my stash. I will add poppers/snaps near the top to stop it moving around. Thank you for the inspiration. 😊
I absolutely adore this demonstration because of your personality and honesty. I fight my perfectionistic self all the time by being a little bit goofy and telling everyone, including myself, to not sweat the small stuff. I hit the subscribe button and am eager to see more of you and what you share. Thank you,.
I'm in my 70s & have been sewing since I was a preteen. But I can still watch your tutorials all day. You have such a magical way of teaching newbies and us old timers as well. ❤
A few years ago when my mom used a walker, I made her these, one for each season. I made a few to donate, too. I used thrift store placemats and even a table runner. 🎉
This came out great. Am sure Senor’s will really enjoy a pocket for their belongings. But you know you gave another idea, I was inspired by this project that it accursed to me I could follow the same instructions but not fold it and many pockets and maybe ribbon to hang it in my sewing or close to stor small items. That was a very nice project. Thank again. Ready for your next project, but right now am heading to dollar tree. ❤❤❤❤❤🎉
My sister is recouping from ankle surgery & heart surgery - I’m gonna make her one, but with an all occasion mat/fabric. Thanks for the tutorial - very easy to follow & I know she will love it. I give this tutorial a 10!!
Recently I made for an elderly friend an over the arm couch organizer. I used one dish mat the long way and on the ends I made the same thing you just did! 😂😂 creative mind think alike!!! 😉🤭😂 I love LOVE LOOOOOVE your tutorials!! On my way to make him a walker caddy 😅💃🏻💃🏻 happy sewing!
My mother-in-law has some health issues and from time to time needs a walker. I am definitely making 1 of these for her to keep on hand. ⭐️ Gold Star pretty lady!
Extra points for using the matching placemats! Love it!!! Now I think I'll try using placemats to add pockets to one of your dish drying mat bags. Could you make a bag out of the tapestry placemats from Dollar Tree?
Yes, please. Maybe the kind of bag, we used in the 60's while wearing our bell bottom jeans. We used to throw over our head and it hung on one shoulder, with a long strap.
What perfect timing. I am having a total hip replacement surgery on December 11 and will be on a walker for awhile. I will definitely make myself one of these. Love your channel.
I have worked at nursing homes. My whole career and there was never enough of these. Look so nice I love them. But if I could make one suggestion to put ties on the bottom Velcro get lots of fuzzy in them and over time won’t work. But toeing is great.
I will be making some of these. The only change that I recommend, is maybe add some fusable binding on the back where it hangs over the walker handle for added strength.
I have not found any drying mats at The Dollar Tree Store since the summer. I love watching what ever you make. You are a great teacher. You are funny, cheerful and real.😊❤
Love this idea!!! I will be making lots of these in Christmas and winter and spring and summer and fall fabrics!!! Everyone needs one for each season of the year!!! My mom has passed away, but she spent the last year of her life in an Assisted Living facility. The dining room looked hilarious during every meal. 2 of the walls inside the dining room looked like a "walker parking lot" for sure!!! We had the most fun with the "parking lot"! I want to make all different colors and fabrics to brighten the whole facility with everyone having a new walker pouch! Thanks for sharing this!!! ❤❤❤♥️
I purchased something very similar to this for my grandsons. It was about the same size, but attached to the rails of their bunk beds. They keep all their books, special items, and even their money ( there was a zipper pocket on it.) I bet you could make this project work for this kind of option!! My mind is thinking about all the ways I could make these (one for myself!!)
@ These kinds of comments are not helpful, but rude and unkind. When people leave comments, they don’t expect them to be judged and scrutinized. Please don’t do this to anyone else!
These are a great idea. You might like to consider the person's vision. Busy patterns or dark colours can make it more difficult to pick out the item they are looking for from the back ground. The way the plain and pattern colours are done on this do help to distinguish where the pocket opening is, a binding along the edge could do the same.
So cool! And you can also use this same concept in making a sewing machine caddy(pockets on one side, and the machine sits on the other, and you wouldn'tneed the velcro) 👍
Thanks for showing this. I asked for this on one video too. You could sew the pockets of the lower section before putting it on, so the lower could have 4 pockets or 4.5. Then sew all the way up just on the middle to split the back pocket.
Your timing is perfect. I love your channel and my mother just asked me to sew her a bag. I’m a beginner so I’m a little nervous but I know you will get me through this. Thank you so much. ❤❤❤
@ thank you for the encouragement. I’m working on it as we speak. I couldn’t find the materials you have, but I have some quilt material and it’s coming along great !! thank you for the tips!!
Chelsea, I am so glad I found your channel. I have learned so much from you. Love love love love love all the Drying mats❤ I bought so many in the last month. I want to try all these Projects for Christmas.❤️
Good advice. Stay out of your neighbors business. And I came across your video just in time. I was looking for a caddy pattern. What a neat idea of using premade items. Thank you 🙏
This is so great!! Thank you! I want to make some for a nursing home. I think I’ll make an extra pocket, skinny enough to hold a pen or pencil. I’m imagining making a few for each holiday, too. Our Christmas will be lonely this year . . . This will bless me, too.
I love this project! What a great gift for those who use a walker. I have mobility issues and rely on my walker all the time. How nice to keep your personal items with you as you’re switching spaces. Thanks for the awesome tutorial!
I sure wish I could purchase some of these lovely printed mats. The 3 dollar tree store closet to me has the typical red, blue and brown or gray, that’s it! As I’m getting older and have health issues I don’t have the strength to nor patience to deal with quilt making. I’m going to make tissue holders for ladies to carry in their handbags which I can make out of scraps and donate to the local cancer center. Just my speed these days, lol. Happy sewing everyone! 💗👋💗
This is such a good idea. I am a nurse and know how useful these walker pockets are! I plan to make several for my local nursing home. I love that they are seasonal! Thank you; you got my creative juices flowing. :)
You can align the one that is a bit longer with each side and sew that first then the bottom with a small dart that would give the pockets a little more give room. If that makes sense. ❤❤
Fantastic! You might also be able to divide the smaller front pockets before attaching to the main piece. Once connecting to the main bit, sew up the middle to divide all in half, for variety.
You will NOT believe this!!! I went to the Dollar Tree today and got dish drying mats. And I was trying to figure out how to make walker caddies. I recently started a church ministry and walker caddies are one of the things we need to make for donations. THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!
Oh yay!!! You’re so welcome!
I need to make one for my sister. Thank you.
I am going to make one to hang on my oven. I need a spot to hang my silicon hot pads and tuck some cute kitchen Christmas decor 🌲 ❤
That sounds like a great idea!
Great idea
Instead of two pads, use one and fold that in half for a smaller version of the caddy for the oven handles! I love that idea. ❤
Can you share how you make it?
Great idea.
Dont forget the guys out there. They might like plaids or solids if they are anything like my husband.
Nice finish. Put some tabs on the sides so you can wrap around the outer part of the walker to stop the 'bag' from moving/swinging about when it goes for a walk 😍
Good tip

Or two dishmats, sewn together to make pockets, could make a nice sewing machine pad.

Made a lot of these. Donated to local nursing home. So needed there

Yes, please. Maybe the kind of bag, we used in the 60's while wearing our bell bottom jeans. We used to throw over our head and it hung on one shoulder, with a long strap.
This is such a great idea . I live in an elderly apt and practically everyone uses a walker or a scooter!
Oh I love this!!! It’s perfect to teach my daughter and she can help with our sewing ministry at church!
Just a cute idea! I wish my grandma was still here so I could make her one. I like that idea of making some for nursing homes.
It’s always a wonderful gift to share!
What perfect timing. I am having a total hip replacement surgery on December 11 and will be on a walker for awhile. I will definitely make myself one of these. Love your channel.
Good luck with your new hip! I hear great things from people who have made that journey.
@patpawson I came home the same day I had my total hip replacement and only used a walker for about a week. The surgery is different now.
@ that’s what I’m told.
May your healing journey go smoothly. Hugs
I have worked at nursing homes. My whole career and there was never enough of these. Look so nice I love them. But if I could make one suggestion to put ties on the bottom Velcro get lots of fuzzy in them and over time won’t work. But toeing is great.

Amazing . We have students at the highschool that could use this and maybe for a wheelchair too.
I LOVE your laugh, Thank you for being so awesome. your ideas are so good and helpful.

I just recently had a knee replacement and could have used this. I will make one before I do the other knee.
👋👋 What a great idea. Maybe I better make one for my future self. 😉🥳
That’s sew AWESOME! What a great service project for a church group! Or sewing/quilt guild!
So cool! And you can also use this same concept in making a sewing machine caddy(pockets on one side, and the machine sits on the other, and you wouldn'tneed the velcro) 👍
You always do the most wonderful things!!! Thankyou so very much!!!❤❤❤
Aw, that means so much to me! 🥰
I made one for my Mom out of placemats, and it was easy peasy She gets good reviews from every one that sees it
Thank you, Chelsea. I love the Dollar store projects.😊
Wishing your dad the best and he will love your walker pocket bag, so will your mom!

I've been making bags out of quilted place mats for years. ❤
Thanks! I have a friend who is having knee surgery and will be using a walker. This will be great for her!
Love it!! I'm inspired to make these from Dollar Tree dish mats and my fabric stash!! Sew easy!! Thank you ❤😊
I would fold it under. Your videos are great tutorial’s thank you.
Wonderful. My project for cold winter days when I can’t get outside. Thank you!
I have made several traditional walker bags, all for very deserving and lovely women. I cannot wait to make some with your method! Kudos!
This is a Awesome idea 👍🏻👍🏻🪡🧵💯🤗
Glad you think so!

Thank you Chelsea great job of explaining. It is so pretty.❤
I'm so glad you like it! 😊
I have a friend that is using a walker now and probably forever so I’m going to make her one of these.
Thank you. I have made a few walker pockets before out of upolstery fabric but this looks so easy and less expensive to do.
This is so great!! Thank you! I want to make some for a nursing home. I think I’ll make an extra pocket, skinny enough to hold a pen or pencil. I’m imagining making a few for each holiday, too. Our Christmas will be lonely this year . . . This will bless me, too.

You just gave me a good idea. I'm going to make a ruler bag like this just adding a handle at the top. You are a genius.
This is such a good idea. I am a nurse and know how useful these walker pockets are! I plan to make several for my local nursing home. I love that they are seasonal! Thank you; you got my creative juices flowing. :)

Great idea using refinished products as “fabric” and making the walker bags. K
This is great. 🎉 I'm going to make these for my Mom and her community members. Thank you for the great pattern.❤
You are so welcome!
from Gerry- Such a wonderful idea and so useful. Perhaps my quilt group would take this on as a charity project. God bless.

I will look into this since I may have to have a hip replacement and will be on a walker for a little bit!❤❤❤

Try using their plain drying mats, but cover them with pretty fabrics of your choice.
I want to give thanks to you and all the joy you share with your community. Please enjoy!
