Ma’am! I’ve been sewing for the better part of 40 years and you’ve got me in Dollar Tree buying them out of dish mats and I keep getting side eyed by the staff 😂😂😂 ETA: You give the most Bob Ross Vibes in all of your videos, it genuinely makes me So Happy to watch you. ❤
I did it! My only issue was sewing over the zipper at the ends. The zipper did not look quite right and then "unzipped" outside the place I sewed over.😢
Honestly sometimes I just watch you because I need someone to tell me I’m doing a good job. I’m laughing but also serious, I don’t always interpret it as “your sewing is great good job”, a lot of times I’m like “she means I’m doing ok in life. She’s telling me good job at adulting”. But seriously, you’re a great teacher and I appreciate you and your cheery attitude so much. ❤
Wouldn't it be great to have you on TV to watch and learn on the big screen? 🤗 I'm surprised they haven't snatched you up to entertain the masses! 🤔 People would love your personality, your patience and your ability to teach!!! I would record every show! 🤗💖 I'm now 77 and have been sewing for years, but you have taught me new things to sew for my Beta Sigma Phi sisters!!! Thank you, Chelsea...you're a breath of fresh air!! 💖💖💖
Those mats are expensive in Denmark where I’m from. Therefor I went to a thrift store and bought quilted placemats for 20 kr it’s about 2,75$ and made 2 bags😊

You make my day! You are so upbeat and so joyful to watch and listen to you and your interjections that you put in it is absolutely wonderful. Keep up the good work. I am an old lady. You don’t hear a lot of good words and sounds anymore so I do appreciate listening to you. Thank you.
Chelsea, you're me fifty years ago (I'm 78). Your channel is the best. So glad I found it. Keep sewing and having a good time doing it. Sewing is still my happy place. Thank you!
I just found her channel, too! Happy and easy to follow, though I am a veteran sewist at 72!❤❤😊 I still love the simple projects for those stolen moments in my day!
I'M SO IMPRESSED with your sewing process and presence that I'm virtually speechless. I believe if I had encountered someone like you in past years, I would have done more sewing. BUT, even though I'm 69, you have inspired me to do more sewing. Just your attitude has helped pushed me to overcome my hesitation sew. THANK YOU!
I thought this was going to be clickbait especially about the zipper. I thought oh sure we can make it under $2 if we have a zipper that we've taken out of some other garment or extra zippers just hanging around but no you actually purchased the Zipper by getting the mesh laundry bags! You are a genius! I live in a coastal area and can easily make the remaining mesh into a shell bag by just simply stitching the top over and threading through a drawstring! What is my drawstring? I have old t-shirts that I cut and make t-shirt yarn out of and I use it from anything from holding the fabric over my kombucha jars to holding up my tomato vines to making a drawstring for a shell bag!
Ok, I made the typical rookie mistake …. I pulled off the zipper after the zipper sides are sewn on. Is there an easy way to put it back on . Queen of the ripper:) thanks
Possibly a cute birthday gift for a young girl. And fill with a brush, comb, lip gloss or chap stick, coin purse, cloth handkerchief, possibilities are endless.
That is the first time in a while, I've heard someone mention cloth handkerchief, so glad someone else thinks of those, also if you know the receiptient personally, if they happen to wear glasses, a glasses cleaning cloth would be nice.
This is PERFECT for wet swimsuits during the summer!! Just throw in your swimsuits and bring them home. Toss them and the bag in the wash! I’m going to make one for each kid of mine. Thanks for the tutorial!!
I had the same idea, and picked up some mats for beach bags. How do yours hold up after repeated washings? I think I will box the corners AFTER I sew the corner seams. That way there will be no raw edges, just a couple of "dog ears" on the inside of the bag.
If you purchased 3 of the dish mats, you could make a tote bag. 2 for the body of the bag, square the ends and 1 mat for straps. With the mats vertically, they could be a bag to put library books in or horizontally sewn for more of a beach bag. If you needed a pocket for beach bag, the net laundry bag with zipper could be used. I love your makeup bag idea, just found your site, thanks for sharing your inspiration and imagination. ❤️
Absolutely adorable! I teach 3rd-9th graders in the first ever fashion class in our district. It's been a wild ride I wouldn't trade. I'm definitely gonna give this a shot with my youngsters

Hi Chelsea, you make my day! So much fun to watch & you make me feel powerful to sew & have fun with the ideas you come up with! I❤hearing about your son & children! The old saying: OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF BABIES😊

Thank you youtube for popping you up in my feed. Cool! I need newbie sewing stuff. I haven't sewn a zipper since high school. I made a dress I couldn't wear. I got excited and tried to make a hot pad from dollar tree into a pan handle protector and failed miserably. This is such a cute idea. My baby girl will love a custom purse to pay with. She's 6. What a simple, clever idea to use dish drying mats. I've made projects of all kinds for decades and never saw this before. I work at a senior center and we have a gift shop with things that were all made by our members. This would be a great addition. I'm looking forward to seeing your other projects. This would also be great to make for toy/school supplies drives and customizing solid color items with appliques of items or positive messages. One can also slip a positive message into the bag. It would ALSO be great to make "care packages" for men or women and put in small personal care items - razors, chapstick, lotion, tissues, etc. That would work for not only charities but also as a small gift for someone who might be in the hospital or nursing home. Wishing you continued success with your channel!
Super cute and easy bag. Thank you, now I know how to box corners. My youngest is now 29 but she would do the same at the playground when she was about 3/4 and say “Hi kids, I’m here!” So stinking cute!

Adorable. I want to do this and add crossbody straps to it so it can be a bag for quick trips to the high street with just a few things in there. Great video. ❤
Sewing zippers is the next thing on my list to learn to do in my sewing journey. I think I always just have a fear of wasting or missing something up so this project is very affordable and I won’t feel bad if I mess it up the first couple of tries. Thank you.
I think I might make these for my nieces! One does theater and one does cheer. I think they could use these for their curlers, makeup, and accessories!
I LOVE your instructions, voice, attitude, and story of your children. Great information which I will definitely share with my friends!!!! I will definitely continue to watch your videos!!!

Adorable. I want to do this and add crossbody straps to it so it can be a bag for quick trips to the high street with just a few things in there. Great video. ❤
That’s a great idea.
That’s an awesome sewing tip to cut the corner out! 😊
I did it!!!!! And it came out SUPER CUTE 🥰 ❤❤❤❤
You are so bubbly. I love it
Sewing zippers is the next thing on my list to learn to do in my sewing journey. I think I always just have a fear of wasting or missing something up so this project is very affordable and I won’t feel bad if I mess it up the first couple of tries. Thank you.
Don’t feel bad! Messing them up is actually how you get good at them!!!
OMG Chelsea thank you for the video. your teaching and instructions are so easy and professional. thank you.
You could also satin stitch the raw edge by the zipper to match the other 3 sides
I think I might make these for my nieces! One does theater and one does cheer. I think they could use these for their curlers, makeup, and accessories!
absolutely!!
I love watching you so much. You make me smile and I want to run to Dollar Tree. 😄
