One hidden reference that maybe you missed, maybe you didn't and just thought it was obvious... Seeing a lot of confused comments lol. The rope a dope was not his “style”. It was a specific strategy he used against Foreman. Ali covered up, stayed on the ropes which is usually a bad idea if you don’t have Ali’s movement, made Foreman miss, pulled Foreman’s head down and tied him up all to exhaust Foreman. That is the rope a dope. He used that strategy because Foreman was such a murderous puncher (watch the Foreman v Frazier fight) and Ali knew he had to be careful because if Foreman hit him with anything clean, it could be over. Ali usually didn’t do that, he’d dance around guys, pepper them with jabs and impose his will.
I think that wizard line goes even deeper than that Knox. In TLOR the lighter colored wizard robes indicted strength, at least in the film version. When Gandalf was the grey wizard he was second only to the white wizard and ERB actually alluded to this in an earlier ERB (Gandalf vs Dumbledore) with the line about how death just makes his brights brighter. So MJ coming back from defeat, his retirement, as a darker color is just Ali twisting the knife on how Wizard Michael was him at his lowest in terms of his basketball career.

As much as I know there was a communication issue on the Japan fight. It was supposed to be a show fight like all the Pro-Wrestling stuff, but Ali was thinking it was a regular bout. I've been hella busy with Uni and I just finally got time to watch your vids. Going on a marathon to catch up. The Cypher was crazy btw🙌🏽 proud of you, sending love 😌
There's actually a video of Michael Jordan schooling a basketball player on his former team. To break down the long story, this after he retired the first time, this basketball player kept talking trash saying he'd school Jordan hard at basketball.
The guy wanted to play with Michael Jordan to quote school him. So Michael by surprise showed up and put this guy to the test. Jordan while winning told the guy to look around the gym. Those banners represents the teams success and after scoring one last time, Jordan said don't call me back out of retirement. I'm done.
The video's old. It was filmed around the 2000s I think. But it's still on UA-cam. You can actually find it Knox. Check it out. It's good.
You get me through my grind at work, much love
Knox's space jam was this s*** you're funny 🤣 thanks for the breakdown 🔥
As a non-American who isn't into sports, this was even more informative than your usual ones!
Watching you work through to get rope a dope worked out was great. Lol. Think I missed commenting on last week's ERB so I gotta get a double can't wait for that MC Lars - Flow Like Poe reaction. Can't wait for that MC Lars - Flow Like Poe reaction. You're gonna love it.
Next, do Richard Pryor vs George Carlin.
As for other vids to check out, take a look at KWA, by the Merkins
amazing recommendations
20:34 #deadinside Priceless! best (and most honest) reaction ever!
Your reaction from the Space Jam line had me rofl. Great job as always 😆
Hey Knox, there is a theory that he went to baseball to keep sharp while he sat out a 2 year suspension (Not announced) from basketball. He was being investigated and it was later dropped. But many people close to the investigation, think he willingly took the suspension, so long as it wasn't public.
Huh, that makes a lot of sense actually
didn't he need also money and it was a big deal for him to go to baseball?
@@6666Imperator, Like i said, it's a theory. It probably was true, that his father wanted him to do Baseball and this was him doing it for dad, while sitting out a chosen sabbatical (suspension). As opposed to having the findings go public, which would have Pete Rosed him, No HoF legacy tarnished. This was perfect to allow him, to still be in the limelight and keep athletically fresh. Working out will only do so much, without competition. I bet he actually did this, to keep the investigation results out of the public eye
@@crazylarryjr yeah, and a lot of people choose to ignore all the facts and evidence regarding Pete Rose, demanding he be in the HoF. The only scandals that happened are mentioned in The Last Dance.
When Jordan said: “ dribbling double balls that nobody can see”. I think it’s also because Muhammad Alee fought George Forman and George Forman was accused of greasing his gloves to blind his opponents and Muhammad Alee wasn’t able to see after the first match. It a far fetched possibility but that would be clever.
I think you're actually thinking of the first Sonny Liston fight where he was accused rubbing something on his gloves that blinded Ali for few rounds.
Interesting timing for this one since SPACE JAM 2 came out recently. Was like a few months back.
That goblin line from ali was also a space jam reference, cause goblins was there and he flew across the field :)
I'm almost certain the "nothing but net" thing was from a series of McDonald's commercials he did with Larry Bird, where they kept doing different trick shots.
love this one, excited to see what u think.
I’m laughing so much at the end 😂😂😂 the space jam line just this man literally speechless 😂😂
You’re great Knox! Would love to see Gretzky vs Hawk
He's already done that one
The term you are searching for is "Rope-a-Dope" where Ali used that technique on Foreman.
Bro I was waiting for this reaction! Thank you knox!
I think 'driving through a whole team' would have been slightly more difficult if they were allowed to punch you in the face.
I feel you Knox... the original Space Jam is one of my favorite movies of all time. I've watched it 1000 times. The soundtrack was actually the first CD I ever purchased for myself with some Christmas money when I was 8 years old. It was actually one of the first albums to get me in to hip hop. That Hit em High track with Busta, LL, Coolio, and Method Man? 👀. Then Slim Shady Came out a year or 2 later and it was on!
Sonny Liston through that If you watch the video Ali was wasn't posing he was telling him to get up! Ali didn't even think the hit was hard enough lol!
LMAO I’ve never seen anyone agree with the space jam line
Best reaction i have ever seen ❤️
Knox I watch your vids a lot but when I need a lift from a bad day your comedy is Gold for me. You can add logic. A bit of humor and a lot of heart to these vids. Much appreciation Knox.
I have been listening to E.R.B since 2011. I seen a few of your reactions on them. I searched for this one. It's one of my top favorites from E.R.B.
Mr Roger's vs Mr. T is top faves to. 😊 thanks for the love of these diss rap battles. YOU'RE THE BEST 👌
I've only seen one other reactor understand the Fresh Prince line. I knew you'd be the second one to get it. Too many people forget Will Smith played Muhammad Ali.
Let's gooooo Early I don't even have to watch the whole video I already know it's bout to be a banger
The last dance documentary was absolutly fantastic... im not a sports person but figured id give it a shot one day... and loved every minute of watching it : )
I love these breakdowns.
Watching Knox slowly figure out Rope a Dope was so simultaneously frustrating and satisfying. :)
I love that it cut to a commercial right on your face at the double dribble bar.
The Last Dance is soooooo good! I have watched it twice...now you got me wanting to watch it a third time.
Was watching the new Tom video.. now this. I like Fridays
Also when he said that you needed a movement it could also be referring to a bowel movement, like taking a crap.
Here before the notification got in... Step up youtube..
As much as I know there was a communication issue on the Japan fight. It was supposed to be a show fight like all the Pro-Wrestling stuff, but Ali was thinking it was a regular bout. And that confusion led to that.
I especially liked the beat of this battle. It combines the elements of 90's rap (Jordan's era), and the 70's funk (Ali's era) in one.
Aye, let's goooooo
I like watching you! I learn how to appreciate music! You should do napoleon vs Napoleon next. That’s a good one!
There was a line you missed. The one Jordan delivered about letting The Fresh Prince do Ali’s rapping for him: Will Smith played Muhammad Ali in a 2001 biopic.
He didnt miss that
Knox Hill my favourite youtuber that turns 3 minute vids into 22 minute vids 🔛🔝
Knox knows so much history that you'd think he lived through all these centuries of history
I actually find myself here to watch ERB videos to enjoy the extra stories KH adds to the battle. It adds to the ERB experience! Keep it up!
Your face after the space jam bar... priceless! 😂 I get it space jam for life!
ERB's writers are talented af.👌🔥
I think the flying through the air like a big dumb goblin part was a reference to green goblin from Spider-Man, since they both fly through the air
19:00 Also literally movement as in "bowel movement", because people need a movement if they're full of shit.
Thats the obvious one.
Rope a dope was the move
YES, I've been waiting form Knox to do Jordan vs Ali for a long ass time!!!
Man I love this erb series!
Rope-a-Dope, I always think about the Martin Lawrence movie Black Knight where he teaches Sir Noltey to use it lol
