Love it. I think she has it figured out…much quicker than most of us have it “figured out.”

It lost me. I don't see why race has to be a factor in all aspects of life.

@@sicituradastra9216 actually TOTALLY with you. I just think she's saying she wants to live to be a good number of healthy years like him. It made me laugh but yeah, agree it does get overplayed.

@@erinlynn7536 the fact that being black was brought up at all. Just made me lose interest. I want to see what you have to offer in talent. I'm not concerned about identity politics. When that stuff comes into play, I immediately become dismissive.
      Also, thanks for being civil.

@@sicituradastra9216 civil discourse is a lost art! But not on me :))) And yes, she truly is talented AF & needs no mention of race. Good point.

@@sicituradastra9216, my goodness! She made one remark in her intro about wanting a career as long as Bruce Springsteen's, and you "immediately become dismissive." If some up-and-coming male country star said he aspired to have a career as long and successful as Dolly Parton's, would you dismiss it as "identity politics"?
I am not familiar with Oladokun's work--yet--but I would hope that she does in some of her lyrics address the fact that racism does continue to exist in this country and may well have a profound impact in her life.
