- Today we explored Kuala Sepetang, a local Chinese fishing village in West Coast Malaysia.
We got the local bus from Taiping to Kuala Sepetang or Port Weld in English.
We spent the day exploring the fishing village, meeting friendly locals, visited a stunning Chinese temple and had some incredible food.
The seafood here is well known to be delicious we had a Mee Udang for 5RM and it was so good.
We also visited a local Bao bun spot where the owner was super friendly and gave us one for free! Best bao I've ever eaten probably.
Why does nobody visit Kuala Sepetang this place was amazing we could have stayed for days 🇲🇾

I'm Malaysian, never been here, very nice place...I love chinese food
@@lenielam8670 You should visit Lenie
For goodness sake, u visited sleepy towns in Peninsular Malaysia. You do a thing foreign tourists would not do, let even locals. I applaud your courage for exploring. You are a rare breed of tourists. Even we as locals don't explore those sleepy towns.
Thankyou so much 🙏 This is what we love to do
I did my 3 months teaching internship in Taiping, but have not visited Kuala Sepetang. Watching your video I'm sure to visit this hidden gem in my next visit to Malaysia; thank you Ellis WR
You should definitely visit so beautiful
@@EllisWR will do
This is great ! Places not usually covered by the bulk of video bloggers ! Keep it going ! 👍 Malaysia #1 !
Glad you appreciate it 🙏 our whole series is from places tourists don't really visit i hope you enjoy 🇲🇾
I love it. Never seen a foreigner vlogger go into small gem's places in Malaysia such as you guys. Usually I only see hotspot in big city's being explored 👍🏻
I mean you guys are actually helping Malaysian discover new places to eat and helping their business ❤
Yeah we love it! Everyone makes the exact same videos in the same 4 places it's so boring. I don't care about views I want to show cool places 🇲🇾
We love to discover small family businesses 🇲🇾
Really happy to see you interact with the locals & enjoyed Mlysian food ❤
We love Malaysian food thanks for watching 🙏🇲🇾
Interesting you made it to K. Sepetang. Even for locals it is not a place people visit. I last visited in the 1990s for a fishing trip at the river there. This was because my fishing buddy's uncle is a fisherman. He lives in the house where you filmed from the bridge. It was a tranquil and peaceful place for a city guy like me. A good video off the beaten track.
Bet it was so cool back in the 90s.
We loved it there these places are best to explore 🇲🇾
Remember been to this village for a bit, then went a little bit off road to search for Mee Udang around the same area, which is another option for us. Great video and enjoy to watch.
Thanks so much Ahmad 🙏
Omg!!! U can see the river is still clean, not like other countries have a lot of rubbish.. i'd realy proud to see the community of Chinese Village area always keep cleen each other👍👍👍
Yeah really appreciate them looking after It!
that views is stunning
Isn't it!
Hi Mate, you guys are really exploring and thank you for sharing your experiences

Thanks so much ❤️ we'll be back one day soon
I'm glad you guys venture into this fishing village. Nice, friendly, clean village.
Thanks for watching matuns 🙏
Yes fresh seafood is everything about this lovely place!
RM5.50 for a small plate of wantan noodles with 3 big wantons is cheap!!
The wanton is huge! You can’t get such in Penang already with similar price..
How ridiculous is that! Big portion fresh seafood such a good price! Delicious aswell
LOVED this video! What an interesting little town!
Cheers Thorts this is the type of town you'd love I reckon
Interesting pau bun factory, old school
Was so cool

Thanks so much!
Bestnyaa mee udang. Udang besar2. Makan time panas2. 😊😊
So good!
Enjoy your stay. I can see that you are enjoying every minute of your holiday. That’s nice. The glutinous rice cooked in the bamboo tube is called lemang in Malay. It is soaked in coconut milk and cooked over charcoal fire. Tastes delicious on its own because of the strong coconut milk flavour. The locals used to eat it with curry. I believe you also love the Chinese steamed bun with the pork filling.
Appreciate the info. Were loving it here. The steamed buns at this spot could be the best I've ever had honestly
Beautiful sky..beautiful day and friendly people ❤👍👍
Couldn't want anything more!
Wahhh the Pao Factory. It looks organized and clean. 😋
I know was well cool to see
lemang, sticky rice with coconut milk, hari raya traditional food served.
Sounds well good
In Malaysia only, it is no surprise even in a fishing village, everybody able to converse in english.
Lovely people
So much of historical touch❤
Thanks Navin 🙏
Miss both of you from Bangkok, Thailand😍😍😍
Thanks Aey ❤️
30:19 you need to peel off the top filmy layer before you eat (the layer is to keep the pau moist). Next time peel it off, it will taste different😀
I peeled it off!

Did you try "Mak Jah Prawn Curry Mee" at Kuala Sepetang..?
No is it good?
Famous for mee udang malay style chinese style
Mee Udang everywhere
What you had, was Big Pau (normally pork based with a quarter or half boiled egg). There is a bigger version 2x the size and it has a cheeky name (I’ll let you guys find out what is it called)
Lemang (Rice cooked over fire in bamboo togive its signature fragrance) is popular during Hari Raya, and it’s usually eaten with rendang, usually a spiced beef dish (some could be chicken instead) which has several versions, but mainly wet or dry version, and presented based on the cuts, shredded, dry floss version….
I really appreciate the info. The lemang with rendang sounds delicious
Yeah, it is a Pao factory. Unfortunately, older generations are normally not English literate.
Don't worry were not bothered! People are super friendly 🇲🇾
I missed the small town vibe. Large portion of food, reasonable price
Yeah it was great
Chinese noodles always paired with pickled chilies. Either it's soup or dried noodle.. Mix in it, it is not spicy at all... #fyi=always mix/stir Malaysian food/drink or mix a small portion each thing in your plate or bowl in a scoop of your spoon or barehand
Thanks for the info 🙏
That is a lot of prawns in the noodles
How good is that!
you can take a river cruise to watch the fire flies near the river.
Thanks Mila sounds amazing
Sawastikas related to temples on the Chinese sign on the bridge.
Yeah yeah Jim weve seen lots here in Chinese areas
@@EllisWR it’s all over Asia… India to Japan. Love following your off the beaten path adventures! 👏🏻👍🏻😃
@@jim.pearsall Really appreciate it Jim have a top day 🙏
@@EllisWR The real meaning of the sawastika is super ancient. When you say welcome in Thai,… Sawatdee kha or khrup is an echo from ancient Sanskrit from over 2 millennium ago. The meaning of this greeting with the wai means good health to you. Sawastika = good health on to you. We can ignore what perverse fascism did by trying to appropriate it wrongly.
@@jim.pearsall cheers for the info 🙏 We understand!
