If you are a fan of the Yamaha Virago, then you will love this video.
Among all Yamaha Virago projects, this one is definitely my favorite.
This great Cafe Racer project, is the work of American Sean Hogan, founder of "De Stijl Moto", in Portland, Oregon.
I hope you like it.

I could easily watch an hour vid on just one bike, going into greater detail of the build.

A beautiful example! The front brake master cyclinder resiviour, or the lack thereof, is subtle but brilliant! I woild much like to see more builds from him in the future!

For reasons of work and change of city I have been a little absent from the chanel, I have not even been able to hit the road in my modified Pulsar NS 200 and sadly I had to keep it in my daughter's garage because of not having space where I live. I'll be back soon. Virago was once a motorcycle scorned for trying to introduce changes to the v twin engines, they accused it of being a poor attempt to attract customers from the Harley segment, true or false, it always attracted me and still does and this fabulous project It shows that it is a motorcycle to create living dreams.Saludos desde León Guanajuato México
Very nice to see you here my dear Alejandro. Don't worry, I understand you. You are right about the first Virago's generation. Commercially, it had a poor success. But everything changed with the 2º generation after 1984. It became a realy interesting motorcycle compared with a harley. It ticks all my boxes. Compact and Great simple lines.The exhaust and Bronze on the forks. Won’t a test drive.
The custom made swing arm is a nice addition. It makes the bike stand out from other cafe Viragos

I used to ride an XJ750 in the 80s. I loved it's shaft drive but it was an inline four. I've since been drawn to the sounds and looks of big twins. The Virago is a shaft twin - and this version looks and sounds fabulous! Thank you for another great video!

Hi, just wanted to point out that you forgot to mention the custom swing arm which makes a huge difference in the way the bike looks as well.
I'm following this guy's project from the beggining till the end of it, and I was so sure that it would end up in here!!!!

1983 Yamaha Virago XV 750 was my first motorcycle and vehicle I bought myself. It was a very good and reliable motorcycle. Watching this video makes me want to get another one😊. Too bad for me I don't have the time to work on one 🙁.

If I were to define this project in one word it would be MONEY and lots of it . It's a beautiful bike and top notch workmanship ,but you can be sure this motorcycle was in the very high 5 digits. Also it's a complete custom meaning if you do intend to use it maintaining it is going to be very expensive , at least it looks as though the suspension and brakes are off the shelf parts . Still as I said a great show bike and a fabulous marketing tool for their company . Thanks for the video .

This is a very well thought-out build that has a well executed design. The exhaust works perfectly with this bike. I would enjoy hearing the V-twin being ridden too! The single carburetor really cleans up the area under the fuel tank. Very nice! Thank you for Racer TV, the Café racers only choice! Hope you are well in Portugal. Ride safe my friend.... cheers.

Eu sou suspeito para comentar pois sempre fui fã das Virago.. acho que nunca vi uma customização dessa moto que eu não tenha gostado.
Mas eu particularmente acho muito mais charmoso o desenho da raiação curva das rodas da primeira geração.. tanto é que sempre pensei na possibilidade de se utilizar também as rodas dianteiras originais. Mas para isso teria que serrar as pontas dos raios e depois soldar em um aro de 17 polegadas ( para ficar num diâmetro esportivo ), o que em outras palavras, seria "fabricar" uma roda e não tenho a mínima ideia se isso seria viável nesse material de liga leve rs..
Mas voltando a realidade, sobre o escape que ele utilizou na primeira versão, ele pode ter sido top enquanto era novidade ( atualmente há muitos projetos utilizando ele ), mas agora vemos que o novo modelo escolhido ficou melhor: aquela ponteira silenciadora seccionada e recurvada do outro modelo pode ser linda, mas tenho que admitir que o conjunto deste novo modelo ficou muito mais leve e fluido.
Também o banco desta nova versão é um pouco mais "esticado" que o da outra versão, o que também aumenta a sensação de fluidez ou velocidade.
Só fiquei curioso a respeito da balança traseira ( braço oscilante ).. se ele construiu ou adaptou de alguma moto.
De qualquer forma, comparada à minha referência em Virago customizada ( as XV 920 da Moose ), ainda prefiro aquelas, por utilizarem a balança traseira original, que combina perfeitamente com a linha do quadro, pelas rodas utilizadas nas da Moose, e por um acabamento geral mais sofisticado das Moose.
Como curiosidade, pedi pra minha mulher escolher entre esta e aquelas e, para meu espanto, ela disse que preferia as da Moose mas que esta era mais "bonitinha".. 😲 vai entender rsrs..

Olá Amigo Robinson. Quando estava a ler o seu comentário relativamente ao comprimento do banco, só aí é que me apercebi que havia me esquecido de falar nisso no video. É mais um pormenor que faz a diferença. Em relação à Balança traseira(Como se diz aí no Brasil), acho que ele usou a mesma balança da 2 geração da Virago, acrescentando aquela estrutura tubular em cima. Gostei de ler a opinião da sua Mulher sobre este projecto, e sobre as da Moose. No fundo, acho que Ela só estava a querer ser simpática com Você. Lol. I wish I could witness the bike traveling through a highway 1 drive along the coast or a twisty mountain ride going through the gears. Perhaps drone footage of the bike on twisty pavement.
nice job, a mix of old and new, well done, only the XV engine can give headache because of its permanent heat problem (rear cylinder doesn't get cooled enough).....
Keeping the ugly pinch-weld makes the tank look like a cheap tin toy, but the rest of the build is brilliant. Well done!

The exhaust system I number one looks like a plumber's nightmare. Number two has had a little bit more creativity and thought put into it. And really like his Mikuni setup.

Hello racertv! After 4 years of following this channel I am about to achieve my dream and get my own cafe racer machine. I love the old Gt535 with its 1960's engine technology. I am thinking of getting it since I fell in love with it back in 2016. I took a ride on one and loved the feel the kick and the vibrations however I got recommended to get instead a gt650 / svartpilen / Ducati scrambler.
Should I follow my heart and get the GT535 or get a more modern neo classic machine?
Would love to hear your thoughts. This channel was a huge inspirational for me every day I worked and saved money for my cafe racer machine during the army 💓 much love from israel thank you so much for everything you do
I owned gt 535 and now i own gt 650. New gt has better engine, less vibration and new chassis gives a lot better control over the bike. Between gt 530 and 650 you should choose 650
I've got a Continental 535, absolutely love it, best handling bike I've owned (I've had over 30,from 50s Triumphs to modern sports bikes) & would highly recommend it... However, I will be trading it in for the Continental 650 because as sweet as the 535 is more power (& therefore versatility for longer distances) is always welcome. Good luck and happy riding 👍🏻
@@vaibhavthapa713 Hey Vaibhav! Regarding the engine that is expected since 535 had a "new" 1960's engine, the vibrations are part of the charm I think. Personally I like having them instead of a non vibrating bike. You feel more connected with the machine.
About the chassis how unstable is the gt535? is it really that bad compared to the 650
