forever grateful for your openness and willingness to share your knowledge and process. getting to know how you made "Lost Stick" and your ups and downs with the process so far was SO fun, especially knowing how amazing it turned out! Definitely picking up a copy; can't wait for your next video!
Oh my goodness, the photograph vs scanned differences are wild. No wonder I have kind of struggled to like any of my pape cut art when I scan them in. The cover turned out so beautiful and quite impressive!
Omg YES please make a video about photographing your artwork at home vs hiring a professional to do a super good high res photo, cause I have a lot of canvases and traditional drawings but I feel I can never achieve the colours and deepness of the og artwork, not even with Photoshop😭😭😭😭😭
To sum up, I photograph my own pieces now! I feel like I have a lot more control that way, and I’ve been trying to watch tutorials on YT to guide me through it 😅
The difference between the scanned and photographed versions of your collage covers was wild! Thank you for the tip of an angled light source ~ I think that's something I'm going to play with for documenting my more textured paintings.
I just got your book in the mail last night and just have to tell you that my daughter LOVES it. I have read it to her three times already this morning and she keeps asking to continue reading it again. After watching this video, i did the pre-order to support you because seeing all your efforts really impressed me and it truly shows off in your book. Love it, and thanks for the video ❤
I don't usually comment on youtube, but I love your art ❤. I also saw a bit about this cover process in your Substack! Excited for you and Lost Stick! 🐕
thank you for taking the time to share your process! your videos are always so insightful and educational and are very inspiring to me as an aspiring children's book illustrator. keep up the awesome work, Anoosha! 😊
Thank you very much for your hard work and dedication in creating these wonderful illustrations. I am very excited to share them with my preschool class!
The concept of the book is soo clever and the art is just gorgeous with those colors!!!! such a great project I love how passionate you are about your work
Absolutely amazing ! Thank you so much for making this video , it was so informative and inspiring :) I was afraid of what working as a children's book illustrator could look like after graduating, but you explained the process in so much detail it cleared so many things up for me. Really helped me understand how working within the industry looks - thank you
Thank you so much for your insight, Anoosha! Watching your videos has really provided inspiration for me to take the leap and start working on my second book!
Hey Anoosha what are the specs of the iPad you use including storage space? I'm considering buying one for artwork and have no idea what's good? TIA :)
Such an interesting video about the making of this cover, can't wait to see the next video and wish you all the success on this book, question is it available for Europe?
I’m not 100% sure! I think it might be available in some bookstores; doing a quick google search it seems to be available in some of the major stores in UK, Germany and France at least so you might be able to! The preorder link from BuyOlympia also offers international shipping!
This is so beautiful! My dream is to illustrate as well and this is so inspiring 🥹 I really wanna try the collage method and really experiment! Seeing ur process makes me feel like I can try things too ❤️❤️
Hi Anoosha, your videos are so valuable and I enjoy listening to you. Since you’re using Procreate, I wanted to know what colour profile do you use for your illustrations? I heard publishers want CYMK but there are so many CYMK options in Procreate. Which option do you use?
When illustrating traditionally, how do you determine the size of paper you should be using? For example, if I'm working on a 5.5 x 8.5 wrap around book cover, how big should my paper canvas be? Also, what other factors should I keep in mind to maintain quality?
I would say to work at whatever your trim size is plus maybe an inch of bleed all around, but personally I like it work a little larger at 140% of whatever dimensions I have just so I can get those small details in easily. Scan with a high dpi (at least 350dpi) and with a good scanner!
thank u for sharing! 💛 also, how did u decide on what story to write? I’m struggling to pick one because there are just sooo many interesting stories to tell 😅
Hello Thank you for this video, adding the timeline is so helpful to better understand how the process was for this book. You mentioned that you will be making a separate video about the full process, from writing to the final version of the book, I do have a couple of questions. 1) For this book you had nearly 20 concept sketches for the cover, but of course you didn’t know this beforehand, how did you manage the number of concept sketches? Was there a number of concept sketches included in the original contract? Did you exceed this number? Was there a separate compensation for any ‘extra’ concept sketches? 2) Traditional art vs digital art, did you notice any resistance to the use of traditional art instead of digital art from the publishers? Perhaps since you were the author in this case you had more of a ‘say’ in the decision, but between this book and the other books you have done since, what is the response from publishers and authors to the collage mix traditional art style? Thank you :)
I am your follower and I watched your growing and I want to congratulate you for your success writing and illustrating your C.P.B. Question: you illustrate traditional your last C.P.B ,did you editing the illustration digital to? Thanks to share this valuable information.❤😊

@@AnooshaSyed yes I actually started one last night! I unfortunately broke my pinky so I’ll have to pause on the art 😭

Hi, I really want to tell you that thanks to people like you, I want to dedicate myself to illustration.

It was the story that I was most inspired by, and excited to work on! Also the one that had positive encouragement from my agent and publisher
Wow, Well done! 😊👏🏾
