A few notes as Satchel is my second fav character. His primary gimmick is Charm which turns an enemy into an ally when the total amount of charm on an enemy is higher than their current HP. It's incredibly satisfying and I almost never use any attack items when using him. Many instruments get bonuses from having more instruments or have a 1-time activate feature. For his pocket pieces you can rotate them to give a bit more flexibility. It's a good idea to have a primary pocket and then smaller pockets in the corners/sides. Many items are really only effective when you have multiple pockets.
Dont know if he ever figures it out, but he was using bows wrong at 1:00:00. You can rotate bows to change the direction they look for arrows. Arrows also do more damage if their firing line has less/no other items filling it up. Had to get that out somewhere ^^;
The game is pretty easy, but the additional difficulty mods that you get through progressing actually turn it into quite the challenge! The town building is also really nice, adds a sense of progression that the game didn't have when it was just one run and endless mode. I really love Backpack hero honestly, it's a fun quick game that you can invest in for minutes or hours depending on what you like. Though if you want to play with all the items, do the more single classic runs and try to unlock the difficult modes.
Flip your bows and stuff around, the use the arrow in front it, they also shoot the first arrow in each row or column in the active space, so that one mouse bow can shoot 2 arrows for 0 energy on the first use then the mouse bow gets more expensive with each use, play around with rotation while you move stuff. Your shoe hat can be flipped and used as a shoe, if your backpack is 4 spaces high its actually better.
With the energy items that hate things being near them. I tend to like making an arm off of my inventory. Usually one lower then the top all the way to the right one up so there is nothing it can possibly interact with.
I 100%'d this a while ago, quite fun. I think it's maybe a litte too consistent outside of some of the challenge runs; to me, the mark of a good roguelike is when the answer to "what's the best card/gear/etc." is "it depends". I was able to get consistent setups in this a little too regularly, but maybe that's because I deliberately didn't unlock most of the items until I was already almost at 100%.
The game looks really fun to play and I'm going to buy it after seeing this, but it's one of those games that isn't super enjoyable to watch someone else play. Watching someone hem and haw about, picking and tweaking their inventory layout all around for the majority of time isn't one of the greatest of experiences to watch. I get that's a big part of the game, but when we're someone who doesn't even know what those items even do, watching someone flick them all around who does already know, it's like watching Grandpa rearranging the tool wall repeatedly for hours for unknown reasons.
All I'll say is this game is as easy as you make it. It has it's own built in challenges and obviously going for the most broken build every game is going to make it seem easy.
@8:30 I’ve never even played the game and I’m annoyed. He said the armor gives +1 attack to adjacent items… why would you waste its optimization by putting another armor next to it. Fucking frogman.
Okay cool, I've been playing with my friends even though it's not. You request access to the closed test and refresh the steam page, then you're in. AA plays alphas and betas all the time so I'm not sure how this was relevant. I was just giving him an idea of a game similar to stuff he already plays.@@AveMcree
It felt like a game I'd play on my phone, but the ripoff you mentioned is truly horrible. Look into steam remote play. This game was the reason I got it set up and now I can play it on my phone.
Glad your playing this game. Me an my wife have watched you for years. I'm just on a fresh account cause I say stupid stuff. But boy yo I enjoy some AA an especially when he plays the games I love. Kenshi is my top fav 😍
i remember this since its based ofdf a f2p moble game that came out but didnt do well and someone picked it up and made it a full game and its soooooo good
LMFAO so I have this exact game on my phone but it's called HIKER and it's a fucking exact clone down to the assets except instead of a mouse you are a cute witch but everything from map style to items and every asset lmao it's 1:1
I played the demo then never again because they did a crap job of advertising their early release so I could only watch other people play it for the longest time and i burnt myself out watching
My first gf was coming over to my house for the first time and one of my cats had a giant diarrhea dump under the kitchen table had to scramble to clean it before she showed thankfully she said she couldn't smell anything phew
So happy to see a big youtuber play this! I hope it really gives it the exposure it deserves!
;P I anticipate you may be thinking "I'm not a big youtuber". As modest as you may be, yes you are a youtuber of some renown now.
He has multiple channels lol I doubt hed ever but if he thinks hes not a big tuber than hes aggressively lying to everyone @@newgirlde
Came for Backpack Hero, stayed for AA wrestling with his anti-mouse predjudice he gained in the Great Floridian Rodent War.
I played an unhealthy amount of this last week.

Thank you for playing this. One of my fave rouge likes.

I swear AA always picks games I’d be interested in playing.
I think it takes a certain kind of moxy to take one of the things most gamers hate and turn it into an entire game.
58:40 amphibian didnt get the mustard gas joke i dont think
I really love these uploads. Love watch/listening to them while I drive my semi
i love when he plays games like this
you can look at older videos from No Rolls Barred to hear how they say it, they were partnered with "Draughts" board game café
I’m rushing out to buy Vampire Accountants right now!

Him ignoring arrow requiring empty spaces for so long felt so bad to watch

Cool beans. Saw it on sale on steam and couldn’t wrap my head around the mechanics from the trailer.

This game kicks SOO much ass. I have like 700 hours in it.
Gonna start calling new assassins creed games "inventory management roguelike"

i was wondering where all this internalized rodent hatred came from but then i remembered you live in NY

Modern RPG geek tetris.
I love it.
We need more seriesAA!
I remember when the demo for this game…. Spent way to much time playing that
Schmootz haha I miss the NY lingo XD.
Backpack a gem.
Raid equipment manager?
Just like in prison, shivs require zero energy during an attack....
@8:30 I’ve never even played the game and I’m annoyed. He said the armor gives +1 attack to adjacent items… why would you waste its optimization by putting another armor next to it. Fucking frogman.
Nice game and your fun as hell
You should check out Sworn. It's basically co-op Hades.
basically not in early access yet

Yooo so happy to see you playing this! I love this game and have been trying to get all the challenge runs done.
Have you heard of vampire bloodlines, old rpg that has more life than it’s worth
I'm jealous, I tried playing it but it tells me translation not found for every option, even after changing languages!
Umm... doesn't urine (even cat urine) and bleach make like, poisonous gas? Like mustard gas or something? Is that person okay?
You ever tried megaloot?
I get they want to make something towards progress and, keep making progress/videos idk they scratched that itch, im hopeful for you
You should play gods of defense!!
looks like a cute game.
2:13:11 The Peglin Community is dying! Repost if you love pegging!!!
I played the mobile app version of this but the constant "watch an ad" pop ups turned me off. Didn't know there was a PC version. Def gonna get it
It felt like a game I'd play on my phone, but the ripoff you mentioned is truly horrible. Look into steam remote play. This game was the reason I got it set up and now I can play it on my phone.
I hard recommend you try out Dragon’s dogma 2 i Believe you’d like it and be able too make good videos as well

Knapsack Knight
Idk i kinda like backpack battles better... I actually accidentally bought this thinking backpack battles was out so i refunded it
The older version was better, I can’t argue the developers on their decision but the town aspect was a little out of the water
love this game
i remember this since its based ofdf a f2p moble game that came out but didnt do well and someone picked it up and made it a full game and its soooooo good
I felt it was harder on the beta, ngl
Hard Mode 3 is the sweet spot of difficulty imho
@@emmaseckso1870 gonna try that cause what I was playing all got solved by infinite builds and felt repetitive to me
@@maus6199 oh yeah, most of the infinite builds have been patched I think?
@@emmaseckso1870 didn't know, haven't played since the first full run I did, guess it's time for me to revisit the game

AA did you delete my comment promoting another channel with good Backpack Hero videos?
If you included a URL, it likely got deleted automatically
@@wizard-pirate Nope, just an at symbol + Insufficient Stats. Like AA's videos but Insufficient has like a million Backpack Hero videos.
promoting other people UA-cam in some comments is pretty frowned upon. Imagine if I went to your channel and promoted mine?

What if, the game name wasnt backpack hero rather backshot hero
