Fireball has such a gentle and inquisitive personality ! He would be a GREAT OX, if you trained and used oxen on your farm. This was a fun video ! Thanx !
That's the problem with these 4 legged supervisors, they're not very good with tools. But, Fireball was trying to figure out how he could hand you the chainsaw. 🤣🤣
We used to feed our walnuts to our pigs... (Black walnuts). They're bitter & hard when the 1st fall off , but they loved em... Husk & all.. Hickory nuts too... In fact, our pen was about 5 acres of hardwood forest.. In the fall they filled up on acorns , hickory , walnuts & persimmons.. My uncle swore it made them taste 2x better... Maybe...Idk. But we raised hundreds a yr in six ,5 acre pens. In the 80's prices bottomed out , and we were out of the hog biz.. Went to beef cows for about 30 yrs . Now the farm is dormant . Kids all grew up & moved away so my family shut it down when my dad & uncle retired around 2000..
I liked watching this one, good job. Just a suggestion, if you feel concerned that they might push on it through the openings, you could put a cross brace of angle iron from corner to corner with the hydrant in between them. My cows would certainly mess with it anyway, just my thoughts. Good one Evan, thanks for sharing, have a great rest of week.
Love how Fireball was so intently watching you...that was great. At least you got the fence posts in while the ground was soft even though is was also muddy. Thanks for sharing the way things go on a farm. Have a Blessed evening.
Our hogs would get ahold to a water hydrant on a daily basis. Thanks to you tube I found the perfect solution. 6 inch pvc pipe cut 7 feet long put in the ground 3.5 feet run the water line up through the pvc pipe and fill it full of concrete. We did put a cut off on the hydrant. And it's too high for them to reach out of the ground. Haven't had issues in over 2 years
You should fence that field and put your cows on those corn stalks. And look for a used skidsteer brush and put that in your pasture for them to itch on.
Nice Work Evan post hole auger works great need some grease sounds like and maybe put fence all around to keep them away from valve. Steers look great nice meat I'm hungry lol. Have a great evening
I would cut some cattle panels to nail up around the posts cause I think they can still get in there plus you got to love animals the stuff they get into just is amazing and brings us all a good laugh
I really wish you would consider a second set of braces mid-level on your four post ▪Cattle can do a lot of damage with just their head and neck ▪Also while I was comparing the trees in the background to Middle Tennessee; I was also noticing how many improvements you guys have made over the last couple years to your farm ▪You should take the time appreciate your accomplishments ever so often; it will encourage you that you are making a difference ▪You should be proud of that! Good Job!!!
Mostly treated post or just treated to protect from bugs but water and ice can damage them in time, and I always put rubber coating on a post that is going in the ground and put water sealant on the rest of the post out of the ground.
I have found that a nut that is just smaller than the cap and push it in with the viseis much easier and more controlled. Good job,had to do same thing to mine last year.
put your walnuts into a cement mixer with some 2-3 inch rocks/ pot i some water to cover most of the way and turn on. this will get the outer coating from the walnut and the just put the walnuts in a wire basket to dry for the season. the water you get from the mixer can be user to get worms for fishing when dumped on the grounf, worms will appear for co;;ecting/ TRY IT/ when walnuts are dry the you can crack them for cakes cookies or whatever.
When fitting an axe head to a handle, you bag the handle on the floor, do the same with the pto shaft, hold the shaft, and as if tamping down dirt, the universal will go on without needing to strike it hopefully. :)
Good episode, sound quality was good, livestock where in rare form with Tom’s offspring and Fireball being so enjoyable. Of course I do enjoy watching you fix stuff too. Thanks for taking us along. It just goes to show, if it’s not one thing it’s another. Good fun.
Great video Evan. That seems to be the way it always goes on a farm. You want to do one thing that day but the animals have different ideas lol. Keep up the good work guys thanks for
The only time it is perfect is when it does the job you intend it to. If it isn't perfectly straight and level makes no difference. You did a much better job than most would do.
Our cows do the same thing to our hose, except most of the time they turn the water on . There's been several mornings I come outside to a big mess lol.
I know this is a year later and you have probably been told or learned how but a great way to do universal joints is to use 2 sockets one larger to except the bearing cap and one smaller on the opposite side and use the vise as a press, work great and if it gets stuck just tap the jaw of the vise with a hammer thanks for your videos they are great God bless
Got most of it taken care of, still need to close the openings . Inquisitive animals will snoop and destroy. Put in a scratching post and back scratcher so they will leave the faucet alone. Glad you got the post hole digger fixed and ready for when you need it. It came in handy today. Thanks for sharing with us, stay safe and have fun. Fred .
Just curious why you don't have a line shut off valve for each building or faucet upright? I understand depth might be a factor but if an upright breaks or freezes for some reason it would be nice to isolate that fixture until it can be repaired without shutting down the entire system. Im in Texas so code varies but 10-22 inches is sufficient for most applications. makes it easy to install valve boxes and lines. i would use cow panel to enclose that valve upright. just cut to fit and staple it to the posts. otherwise they may get their head in there and push on that valve pipe. i learned a long time ago if there is a weakness in the system the cows will find it and exploit it.. usually at the most inappropriate time. Love the channel and content.
I love the way your & Rebekah's farm is so neat & tidy....Update please on life in the pond turtles, fish, frogs, etc.,. & I'd enjoying seeing Miss Maggie again 🐾 🐾 💕 and seeing whatever the piglets have uncovered.
Great job Even. It's a great money saver your able to fix all you machinery. Very handy. I loved how fireball was interested in what you were doing. He really had you on in the end.
Pounding those joints us a good way to lose an eye the hammer, chisel or cast joint can. throw a piece out with the force of a .22shell better to use the vise as a press a big socket pushed into a smaller socket
O touro é o encarregado, está verificando se o trabalho está sendo executado como o projeto inicial. 😂 Lugar maravilhoso, deve ser satisfatório morar aí.. Abraço do Brasil 🇧🇷
One job , seems to always lead to other for me too, great job on the fix as well as the hydrant protection enjoyed the video cattle are looking real fine……..fiesta 👍👍👍👍👍👍👌
You might want to drive a few t-posts in the pasture for the boys to scratch their backs on. They just wanted to take a morning shower. lol Great looking animals you have there. Best of luck.
Qqination of adorable and hilarious with Fireball standing there, watching you SO INTENTLY As you were fixing the water hydrant, Thinking, “I can’t believe you’re taking away my shower “… or, “You’re always taking away all of my fun… I invited friends over tonight! LOL “as Fireball continued to watch in shock!! Anyway, the post was a smart idea and once you got it done it really looked like it was going to be a good solution to the problem of the cattle rubbing against the hydrant❣️❣️😊 My father always said that when you had more than one cow or cattle you could expect there to be a leader of the pack and the rest would follow & get into trouble.🤣
Just a thought you could take two pieces of your corner post wire and make a "x" with the wire wrapping around the base of the handle up high. Then no worries on it bouncing around in there and stabilizes your hydrant at the top.
Very nice workshop, be care full when pounding on metal setting on the concrete. Use a wood or rubber pad so as not chip the floor. Then it will look like mine.
Well done on replacing the joint bearing. When you have finished the job clean the post hole boring tool and coat it in oil, waste oil ?, before putting it back in the weeds. Be ready to go next time. How do I know?, guess ?. Do as I say, not as I do perhaps!.
Hey Evan love your channel. the other day I watched a video on your water trough, can you tell me what auto topoff you use at the bottom of your water trough? I can only find ones that have a solid connection for the float and my cows will just break it , so I need one on a string/wire like yours. thanks. -Steven
Is it dangerous for the fainting goats to "faint"? Oh I would have liked to see a little more of the drone footage of the corn harvest. That looked cool. You did a great job today!
Fireball is so cute!!! He’s like a big puppy. LOL
fireball standing there watching you drill that post was adorable
And licking the chainsaw.
The red cow would be really hard to sent to freezer camp
I like your building inspector
When it comes to going to the butcher it's gonna be kind of tough letting Fireball go, seems like he's become quite a pet.
Few things are more enjoyable than trying to set posts in the mud!
Dude, I love those turkeys and goats
I always used a socket to drive out U joints. That way it dont break it and it comes out straight. Good luck

I was wondering that about the walnuts. Thank you for answering my question 👍

Or a few strands of barbwire for a quick fix.
@@leeakers1018 I agree with you, combination panel around the outside would work too, but an opening may be needed to reach the hydrant handle.👍
Love how Fireball was so intently watching you...that was great. At least you got the fence posts in while the ground was soft even though is was also muddy. Thanks for sharing the way things go on a farm. Have a Blessed evening.

Fireball is a great helper! Great job Evan!
Be very thankful that Fireball does NOT have opposable thumbs. It would be much worse.
You should fence that field and put your cows on those corn stalks. And look for a used skidsteer brush and put that in your pasture for them to itch on.
If you had some old tractor tires… you could stack them to create a barrier to keep the steers out, yet still have decent access
OMG 🤣 Fireball is a Big Goof!! Have a Wonderful Evening!! 😊🌹
Evan, my mom used to get the hulls off walnuts by driving over them🙂
Nice Work Evan post hole auger works great need some grease sounds like and maybe put fence all around to keep them away from valve. Steers look great nice meat I'm hungry lol. Have a great evening
when you are having a hard tme augering a fencs post hole start with a smaller auger
Fireball is so silly😂❤
I like the way you talk to fireball
What breed(s) of steers do you have? That reddish one is beautiful...very healthy and smooth coat. Enjoy your videos.
Fireball is a big puppy. So cute
I would cut some cattle panels to nail up around the posts cause I think they can still get in there plus you got to love animals the stuff they get into just is amazing and brings us all a good laugh
The wind and the combine all part of the natural beauty of where you live buddy
I would put a metal fence post in up against the hydrant and use some stainless zipties to secure it, that's what I did with mine.
Use a old socket that the size of the U joint cap it will come right out.
Or even a new socket would work.
Mostly treated post or just treated to protect from bugs but water and ice can damage them in time, and I always put rubber coating on a post that is going in the ground and put water sealant on the rest of the post out of the ground.

Can the walnuts be used as food for any of the animals? Good job, by the way. You seem to be able to fix anything 👍
Pigs like the walnuts , squirrels ???

Fireball - "The Curious Cow"...
Inquisitive- I laughed as he watched you drill holes in the posts. Very unusual for a cow.
When fitting an axe head to a handle, you bag the handle on the floor, do the same with the pto shaft, hold the shaft, and as if tamping down dirt, the universal will go on without needing to strike it hopefully. :)
I think Rebbecka needs to keep Fireball this time around. He makes a great supervisor! Even if he’s inquisitive!
I was thinking the same thing
There not pets.
@@teenagefarmer Fireball may just be a pet! HA

The right size socket works very well.
How clever of you to use a vice grip to get those "things" (bearings?) in. Yea for you. God bless.
Great video, no problems hearing you.
Great video Evan. That seems to be the way it always goes on a farm. You want to do one thing that day but the animals have different ideas lol. Keep up the good work guys thanks for

Yep
You had a John Denver moment Evan, Some Days are Diamonds an Some Days are Stone 😅
Video turned out great.
Fireball was making sure you drilled straight 😂😂

Can you put a barrel over it ? Keep the top open so you can still turn it on and off.
I would put some boards lower around hydrant . They will get there heads in there and reef on it.
He’s in the back mumbling to the other two that he told them he’d get it built right😂
I hope to god you keep FIRE BALL HE MAKES THE SHOW FUN AND I LOVE HIM 😍
Getting ready to get ready to get a job done is a job in itself! Good job!
Good job Evan did a great job
Try to get some old car wash brushes for the steers
Mount your table vise to a nice tree stump!!☺

Maybe put some caddle panels around the post
Great job, going to be sad when the Steers go on freezer vacation
I have stuck the auger when it was wet
Fireball you need to listen to me. 🤣🤣🤣 Love your channel. Thank you.
I don't know why you don't purchase a post hole digger/tamper instead of using wood to tamp down the dirt around the posts!
might be a good idea to put some metal fence around your posts , to keep the steers heads out
