This honestly sounds like two friends at an impasse. One is desperately trying to convince the other that their addiction is killing them, while the other is stubborn in their ways carrying a pessimistic outlook on their own life with their addiction being the only way to numb the pain.
I've had a friend who treated their addiction like 'I'm going to die anyways, I may as well enjoy myself while I can" they are currently grossly overweight, drink like a fish and smoke like a chimney and work themselves to the bone...

One thing leads to another and a misunderstanding leads to a dark duet with G pushing his all to show he deserves to rise up, hitting some flawless notes, but unfortunately, his voice is crippled by his constant coughing, with Ace attempting to reach out to him and show how much he loves his bro. The strain becomes too much as G gives in to the pain from his chest…which leads to his untimely Release.
One thing I will agree with Retro on, is that there need to vocals other than BF's to go along with not just remixes, but FNF songs in general. This is quite wonderful to listen to!

On the topic of duets and the Ace vocals, have you ever thought about releasing a video with the VS Ace mod using only the Ace vocal tracks? (By this I mean that both sides are sung by Ace.) I’ve thought about combining the normal and swapped vocal tracks without the BF to make something like that, but I am not a professional. I just love how the Ace vocals sound.
try putting both vocal tracks together in a program like audacity, and cutting out the bf parts in each respective track. then add in the instrumental and you should have yourself an ace-only song.

I caught myself listening to this song on repeat ever since I found it. The instrumental's difference just gives off a brand new vibe to the song which really makes it feel quite chill and easy going all the while being. sad and enigmatic. Gotta love Ace's vocals having SO many differences as well. Again, really improves the song.

There's something so hauntingly beautiful about this. Palpable concern in Ace's vocals, especially in the adapted "chorus" where his voice jumps up to a different melody instead of echoing Garcello; the slowed-down tempo and melancholy guitar giving the song a sadder feel while keeping the intensity; and finally accepting Garcello's fate as the two harmonize for one last duet. Full props indeed.
