I’m a pianist. He’s not playing those keys. He couldn’t play them even if he wanted to, because that’s a fake piano.
His cat paws are purrfect. I mean, like how my cats paws looked when walking on my keys. No chords. No correct notes. Just plunk, plunk, plunk.
Eric Singer had a cover story for this. A former bandmate of his from the Alice Cooper band, who is the keyboard player, gave Eric Singer piano lessons to prepare him for this part of the show. But of course, nobody learns a brand new instrument for the sake of performing only one song. The piano technique for Beth is advanced enough that it requires some level of touch. You can see in that other video that the individual fingers do need to articulate independently, with fine hand movement, and rotating up to hit certain black keys. That shiny stage piano is an empty shell, a prop, into which a digital keyboard locks into place. We see it here with pedals, but for most of the tour it had no foot pedals. At times Eric was not seated, but standing while "playing". The origin of this concept seems to be the Paul Lynde Halloween special from 1976, which features a similar scene: Peter at the piano. Towards the end of that segment, the rest of the band gathers around the piano by Peter, in a similar way to what they do on this tour. Given that Eric Singer is a real musician with a decent resume before KISS, it seems disrespectful to him that KISS asked him to do this.
When I saw them at the Hollywood Bowl Nov 3rd 2023. I don’t think it was Eric Singer at the piano playing, last alone singing.

The piano is a prop in the entertainment industry; especially if the performer cannot play the instrument. Numerous entertainers fake a song, but it's the present of the performer being on stage that counts.
No need to be a piano virtuoso to know he is faking it, Horrible!

Surely if Eric Singer pretends to play the piano during the "End of Tour" tour performances, it's not his choice but a request from the concert organizers, maybe Paul and Gene made that request, I don't know, it's just my assumption . But what I'm absolutely sure of is that Eric Singer is an excellent professional, a phenomenal musician and extremely dedicated to his work.

Peter criss did use a piano back in 1976 on a TV for a holloween special and the band came out just like they do today at the end the end of beth

I compare a Kiss concert to going to see the circus with the clowns, elephants & trapeze artist. Kiss would maybe agree these days.

I think he's really playing the piano, just not everything we're hearing. Most of it is surely pre-recorded, and Eric is just playing the basic power chords. I also think that having it appear that Eric is singing AND playing... is another way for Paul to take dig at Peter, who has always said Peter can't play piano, and didn't really have much to do with the writing of that song... that it was Bob Ezrin who actually made it what it is.

It is clear that Eric Singer is not playing, the base is all pre-recorded. At the show held here in Brazil months ago, it's clear that Eric is representing. There is a moment when he stops "typing" the keys and the music continues. Even in the days of Peter Criss the bases were pre-recorded, but today it is part of the Show to have Eric Singer "playing" the piano. By the way, today some Kiss songs are also pre-recorded. If Eric Singer doesn't really play the piano 🎹, I see it as a total disrespect to him, who is a phenomenal music professional and extremely dedicated to his work, as well as a disrespect to the public who pay to watch a good show. Eric Singer has already proved to everyone that besides being one of the best drummers in the world 🌎, he is also an excellent singer, his voice is beautiful, he really interprets the songs very well, he sings very well and plays the drums at the same time, which makes it even more phenomenal. Really, if that's true, I don't see the need for it in KISS performances.

OK to be serious...Grand Pianos when played as a solo instrument should had the lid up otherwise it sounds muted. What we're hearing hear with the lid down wouldn't sound so clear. So yeah backing music track being played.
01) It's probably a backing track and he is not playing, but, for sure, KISS Backing track is diferent than the video you choose, so, its not a fair comparision, maybe some fan should listening this Beth version and play on the piano to compare.
02) anyway, Eric Singer is part of KISS too. A great musician and deserves a lot of respect

I see the black keys moving, but not the white keys, and he isn't playing with movement in the fingers like a real piano player. He looks like his wrists are just going up and down as his fingers smack on the keys. Not a real piano player.
