I joined a little too late to hear the original theme, but I got to experience it before it got quest support. And while I'm sure quest was a major breakthrough for the game, it drastically shifted the player base to seemingly more kids and young teens than anything. It used to be pretty rare to run into kids before that, and if you did, they weren't as bad as they tend to be now.
Also it does kinda feel like the game is being pushed into a more sterile direction, the anticheat, the ui, the subscription... it feels a little bit less of a wild west like it used to in prior years, and more of a daycare.

I miss 2017-2019 VRChat. I'm too afraid to set foot in a public world now because of how toxic everything has become.

I hate how VRChat lost it's touch. The real world integrated in and it's become sort of like a high school society. It's become hyper sexual garbage. Sorry not sorry but I loved it when there were less people and more meaningful relationships.
