Nice information.
There is this chocolate recipe, I used 3 cups of flour to 3 cups of sugar(is this person's recipe I followed). I did it, it came out nice, soft and very melting in the mouth😋 but my family said it was sugary that I should reduce the sugar. So, my next baking, the sugar measurement was 1 and 3/4 cup to 6 cup of flour. It was okay no much sugar, it was perfect but the batter swelled like a balloon and I was scared 😂 so, I didn't know why sha.

This might be challenging Chidimma cause you don't know what degree to bake with. So, I would suggest getting an oven thermometer or baking with blue flames with a touch of red as a last resort.

What causes the cake to be thick
If you're referring to dense cake, one of the causes is overmixing your Cake batter.

Depends on what the recipe calls for. I haven't seen this method before tho except it's a one bowl mix.

My cake always come out white not brown. Baked with gas cooker
This may mean it needs to bake a little longer to achieve a brown look but if the recipe you are making is special (I mean not regular) then it may most likely just be so, for example white cake.
