I like how you are always prepared for whatever challenge you may face, Phil. And, you always seem to maintain a great attitude as well. Kudos to you! The snow is quite beautiful, however, I hope you will be able to heat the chateau very soon at a reduced cost by making your own wood pellets.

Lightening blends in with the landscspe. I live in Wisconsin USA and my turnips were snowed on Wednesday. I planted a little late and still harvesting the garden. Glad you fixed the pump. We won't talk about the guy that welded it first. Hope your pellet making adventure is a success.

So happy you were able to fix the wood chipper. Hope you are able to make your own wood pellets to heat the Chateau. Where we live we usually have ice or freezing rain a couple of times during the winter months. Last year we had a good amount of snow so were stuck at home for about a week before it started to melt. My hubby says, you may want to drain it, refill it with new, run it for a short bit.
Then drain it again, as there is still likely going to be water still in the system, and then refill it with NEW again and use it.
This will ensure you have removed all of the water and get no further issues. Safe rather than sorry.
Since this is an important machine for you!
Really enjoy watching all of your endeavors.

Hi Phil, am I right in thinking that you don't have any under cover shelter AT the Chateau to store the Lawnmower and chipper etc ? If you don't how about a winter project to create some? You've already proved the concept, The Temporary roof you created for the stage ! Build another metal frame and get some canvas sides and roof made and possibly put it against the wall where the old Peacock house is/ was ? You could leave the front wall open so you can put the mower and chipper under it in the spring when you start your spring cleanup. You could even move it out during any events if the weather is proving iffy, to make some extra shelter available by the Bar and then just take it down and store it at the workshop during the winter. Not sure how much it would cost but the benefits of having somewhere dry to keep the machines would surely be worth it if it's not hugely expensive to build one ? If you design clever so that either the front or back wall could be left off it could be used either way round depending on what you wanted to use it for, and could possibly even give you somewhere to shelter from showers while doing something out in the open instead of being banished inside ( I'm thinking of painting patio furniture etc) Just a daft thought that popped into my head. Stay warm and give Lightning a scratch behind the ear
    Cheers
    Matt

We had 15 inches of snow a week and a bit ago. Fun times! Our road crews are out every hour or so. We sand for ice and pray for sun. We did get sun. 60°F and that pretty much took care of the ice and snow. I love Colorado!
The American South get the occasional snow and entire states shuts down. They don't have snow removal equipment. Luckily for them it doesn't usually last long.
Good luck on the oil, pellet making and heating the chateau.

You are sounding more upbeat now so that's a great sign! Yep, here in Yorkshire we got snow and ice (usually where I am it misses it altogether so it was a surprise). Not seen the council go round with gritters. Wonder if they still have them they sold so much equipment off. I sooo miss a lovely open fire. We can't have them now and the alternatives are useless. I recommend the furry throws though!!

Luckily we haven’t got the snow…yet. As no one is used to driving on snow there are lots of calls for the farmers to get cars out of ditches. Trying to start the chipper reminded me of my Orange Dylane I had in London. When I took it to the garage and moaned about it the cockney chap said …What you expect it’s just an effing motorbike with a chassis!🤣🤣🤣🫶
