@@bigfaffproductionsThe latter. I am amazes at how grades go up from when I climbed a lot 60s/70s - it's bizarre. Sticky boots, chalk, cams, etc should reduce grades considerably methinks ( notwithstanding holds breaking off, polished rock). I think we are increasingly risk averse in society these days.
I seconded this a long time ago, I remember that first section looking really imposing, but a really fun climb. The camera makes it seem a lot steeper higher up. Did you walk the whole ridge, or just go for the climb?
No it’s basalt. Which could not be more different from the surrounding gabbro, being shiny and brittle (which is why the basalt dyke has formed a gap).
Takes me back to when I was the warden and resident guide of the S.M.C. hut in Glen Brittle back in 1965. Happy days!!
1965? Wow! A legend!
SMC hut? Do you mean the BMC hut
Current grade is HS, did it a few weeks ago on a Cullin traverse, made more interesting with a pack and boots
Not surprised they've upgraded it
Years ago it was graded Vdiff
Things falling off or climbers getting softer?

Did the whole!
Looks scary!!!!
I made it look scarier than it was 😉 get a good partner to lead it and job done 😁
Nowt wrong with a knee. It looks like a harsh climb for a severe, well done
Apparently hard severe these days
Doesn't look very familiar. Last time I did it there was so much polished rock hardly anyone could get up it.
Haha! Yes, it was very polished when we did it!
Did this for my first ever climb
Nice one, Billy! What a way to start your climbing adventure! How does it stack against other climbs you've done since then? Any favourites?
@@bigfaffproductions it beat me 😄 im a fell runner that went on a adventure with a friend but i promise to go back and finish it
There are loads of things I don’t like about his belay - so many things that I can’t be bothered to comment. It would take too long.
Come on, entertain us, Gordon!
Not gabbro then.
