  • This is video #2. I give a quick tour of the interior of the car including the electronics for the PCS electronic shifter and PCS paddle shifters along with the gear vendors switch buttons and indicator lights. Then we go out for a test drive putting everything into action using the paddles to do our shifting and the latching buttons to activate the overdrive. Let's go!

    Just got a 64 dodge 440 with a 318 and push button auto. Gear vendors 727 upgrades are supposed to be the best there is and your video is the best driving video proof I have seen so far. I've got the 727. Can't wait to wake it up.

      Sounds like a great setup. Thanks for the compliment on the video. I too struggled to find a video that demonstrated the GV in action. Although this video was made for the PCS system and paddle shifts it does highlight GV. I just got some new buttons, so I plan to make another video once I get the buttons installed. This one will be a more comprehensive video featuring all the electronic shifting components.

      @@scottcerreta1724 see if you could pick up a microphone if you haven't already. Id like to hear the shifts more. Still haven't decided if I'm sticking with the 727 or going with the 518 for 8 gears

    Scott, that system is an awesome upgrade to an old school el Camino. I doubt my 68 will get that system because I love the staple floor shifter but I love what you've done. Fine job!

    Hi Ruben thanks for the question. The steering wheel is a Momo Jet. I bought it from Summit Racing. The paddles are an add on option for the electronic shifter. These are separate from the steering wheel and come from PCS. You can check out their website, not cheap.

    Thanks for the video!! Where did you get steering wheel? Do the paddles come with the steering wheel? Or they separate?

    I'm heavily debating saving up for a gear vendor for my 4l60 in my Silverado and running 4.88 gears, how does the gear vendor work when running it automatically? If I went full throttle would it go 1st too 1st over drive 2nd, 2nd overdrive etc? I'm going to be doing a cammed daily driver and god the 1st to second gear with a 4l60 just kills it, drops it right down too 3K rpm

      No. You'd have to do that manually. The auto feature of the gear vendors will just engage the overdrive just once, when the vehicle hits 40mph.

      these systems can be complicated and I'm not sure how much help I would be. It's been a while since I have installed this. I suggest you call PCS. I called them several times throughout my installation and they helped me a great deal. For me, they were very friendly and easy to get a hold of and shared some files and walk me through the process. Hopefully you can have a similar experience with them. Give them a call.

    That cool dude but do you really have to toggle the overdrive when gear splitting ? I'd be cool if it drove like a 6 speed. Not knocking yours at all it's really sweet

      Unfortunately, it does need to be toggled on/off for each gear. It is a true OD unit and not a multi-gear transmission. Then again, if applied to an old school transmission like the legendary TH400, you can make it outperform the original and I am quite happy with that. I prefer this for my 70 el Camino instead of upgrading to a 4L80 or some other modern transmission. To each their own, lots of options are available nowadays. It just depends on what you want and need. For me, I love the GV and do not mind the manual on/off function. Plus, I have the paddles, so it is quite fun to drive.

    Can you leave in manual mode all the time for just using 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear not overdrive for city driving?

    • @scottcerreta1724
      @scottcerreta1724  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, absolutely. Full manual control is available and this is how I use it most of the time now. I find that auto mode shifts into OD way too early.

      @@scottcerreta1724 ok thanks. I was told that if I leave it in manual mode that i would be responsible for taking it in and out of overdrive and that I could premature wear out the cone clutch inside the gear vendors unit that's why I would just leave it in automode. I just want to basically bypass overdrive especially if I'm cruising in the city. I need my low end torque gears not the overdrive gears. Thanks for the info 👍
