    7-11 is so good when you're in a pinch. Used to go there all the time for lunch during work since we technically don't have a lunch break. The musubi and pork hash is good. Even love the tamales and taquitos LOL. Love the breakfast too. Mahalo for sharing all the different dishes there. That takes commitment to eat that all day. I think mochiko chicken is usually sweet.

      7-Eleven Hawai'i is da best for grab and go and affordable eats. Their musubis and pork hash are good. Have you tried the shrimp version? We're going to try it the next chance we get. We had no idea they sold tamales!! Which locations serve it? We LOVE TAMALES!! So many ono things to pick from for sure. Yes we were well behaved to eat nothing but it all day. We know our bank account said thank you a few times!! 🤣 The mochiko chicken...we've tried it at several spots and always got that nice subtle hint of sweetness but didn't get that from the mochiko musubi so we were curious if that was a norm for it to be made with that sweetness. Mahalo as always for coming along with us on our foodie adventure!!

    Pork hash is Hawai'i's version of siu mai and usually also contains shrimp. On a local dim sum menu, pork hash and siu mai are ocnsidered the same thing.like manapua and char siu bao. And though most people from other places are becoming familiar with Spam musubi and its shape from the slice of SPAM from the can, the triangle is the traditional Japanese shape of musubi or onigiri. Round rice balls are only made for funerals, so as kids, we are taught to make the triangular rice balls (now much easier with the plastic molds) 7-Eleven in Hawai'i has great and unique foods, but you'd be amazed at what they offer in Japan - often seasonal and regional! The Hawai'i 7-Eleven stores are locally operated and under the direction of the company in Japan. Mainland 7-Elevens are a whole different operation and can't possibly compare or compete.

      Hi Jody! We've definitely had the chance to learn more about Hawai'i's beloved pork hash. We were wondering though why 7-Eleven doesn't combine pork and shrimp together since it offers both versions separately. We've also started to learn more about onigiri. We had no idea about the round rice balls and it's history. 7-Eleven in Hawai'i and other international countries we agree is great. The 7-Eleven in the Philippines serve local Filipino food and snacks as well as Japanese related goods. Mahalo for stopping in again. Have a great week ahead!

      Aloha Rebecca! So sorry for the late reply. You are always so sweet. Definitely agree that 7-Eleven is awesome but only in Hawai'i and international locations😋. A go to for us when we're on the island for convenience, affordability, variety, and flavors. 🌺Happy Aloha Friday🌺 and mahalo nui for your continued support!!🥰🤙🏽

    Aloha Michelle and Jose! Oh..for the longest time.. the mochiko chicken was the only musubi I would buy from 711. And yes, it's suppose to be sweet🤙😋 The Char Siu Manapua is good too👍

    Hi guys 👋
    7/11 great cheap food options there. Here at home , the only thing I would get from 7/11 is their slushy’s on a hot day. I’ve never looked at the food options here.
    When we were driving around Oahu to the north side , we did stop at a 7/11 near Kahuku to get some slushy’s and they had the Ube Tarts and had to get them. Now I know why you love them , they tasted like little cheese cakes, delicious! 😋
    Cheers Rod & Gem

      Hi Rod and Gem!! Yes so many cheap AND delicious options to choose from the 7-Elevens in Hawai'i and talk about convenience too!! Here in the mainland USA...we don't really get the slushies or other fountain related drinks as there's far too much negative feedback on the cleanliness of the machines!! Glad you two finally got a chance to try the Ube Tarts. When you go back this fall, if you two have a chance and rental car, check out Uber Factory in Wahiawa. They are the original creator of the Ube Tarts. UBAE which sells their Ube Tarts in 7-Eleven is great too but it's nice to try the OG version as well. Thank you both so much for always showing your support!!

    That 711 you went yo at Kalakaua and McCully is where Strictly Dumpling went to and did his video back in 2019 that was deleted.

    McD is real eggs, it's the way it's cooked that makes it that texture. It's a contraption that constantly scrapes the surface so the scrambled eggs only take a few seconds to cook.

    • @michellejosefoodandtravel
      @michellejosefoodandtravel  7 місяців тому +1

      We can say that the egg on the egg mcmuffin is definitely real eggs and only that, but the scrambled ones that are folded we read contains eggs but also modified food starch and citric acid. Its then precooked, folded, and then flash frozen by their suppliers. Once its ready for an order its grilled with real butter...at least that what we've read from a few articles. Did you know there's a few UA-cam channels were employees actually record making the food and preparing it during their shifts?? Pretty interesting to see behind the scenes and we have seen a few of the contraptions they use to make our food!!

    I have noticed that sushi rice doesn't get hard in the fridge. I've had a leftover poke bowl with sushi rice the next day, and the rice was not hard at all.

    • @michellejosefoodandtravel
      @michellejosefoodandtravel  4 місяці тому

      Hi Eme! We apologize for the late response. Definitely sushi rice has a better consistency after being in the fridge than regular jasmine rice. Lucky you have leftover poke to enjoy!! We usually finish all our poke right after buying it!! Thank you so much to stopping by our channel!!

    Another good video. Just too bad you couldn't feature even more of the 7-Eleven food like saimin, pho, and the many other dishes. BTW, mochiko chicken should be marinated in a teriyaki based sauce before it is dipped into the mochiko flour. Basically the mochiko chicken you had was just like the karaage with the only difference being the mochiko flour.

    • @michellejosefoodandtravel
      @michellejosefoodandtravel  7 місяців тому

      Mahalo Marvin! We really wish we could have featured more eats from 7-Eleven too!! The next trip we'll probably do a 7-Eleven mukbang. So all of the mochiko chicken we've tried (minus the one in the musubi in the video) have had a nice hint of sweetness to it which is why we were expecting 7-Eleven's to have as well. Is it unusual to have it sweet?

    Unless you're Really, Really Hangry...have never ate the paper wrapping on char-siu manapua!-lol. In fact, much rather prefer lup cheong to char siu. Just had lup cheong, reg shrimp/spicy hash & smoked salmon onigiri for yesterday's lunch....

      Ha ha ha let's just say one time we were really really hungry and that happened!! We do enjoy anything with lup cheong and have seen it in the warmer several times but for some reason didn't get. They do look like a breakfast staple we have in Texas called a kolache but it's baked and not steamed. Have you tried the curry one? Your lunch sounded ono!!

    W/in past 4-5 years, have never had any fast food chain(McD's, JB, BK, TB, etc) breakfast. Because, IMO...when you live near places like Tanya's, Koa, Barrio...All others pale in comparison!-lol

      If we lived in Hawai'i, trust us we would hardly ever visit fast food chains either (minus Jollibee...lol we love their fried chicken and gravy and oh peach mango pies). We still have to go try the fried chicken at Paalaa Kai Bakery!!

      @@michellejosefoodandtravel it is my opinion that Paalaa Kai Convenience Store's fried chicken is not as tasty as it was a few years ago. I no longer drop by next door after buying pastries next door. I did a Yelp review of that convenience store maybe about 6-8 months ago
