I remember when I was 17 I told my mom I wanted to shave my head and got told no bc it would look ugly. I knew it wouldn't though so I just went into the bathroom and did it anyways. Everyone told me how cute I looked and to this day, 5 years later...i still have a shaved head , and when I feel like having hair I just throw on one of my wigs. Sometimes you just need to go for it b.

(regarding when brad said "if you're gonna shave your hair you might as well try out different styles") my mum was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago and before she started chemo she did just that! she dyed her hair bright pink and cut it into different style, each getting shorter and shorter until she shaved it. (she's fine now she came out of remission in 2018 😊😊)

I actually learned to cut hair by watching hair videos (such as brad's) and giving my dolls hair makeovers. Now, I literally give my friend free haircuts. She has thick, coily, red hair and it's hard to find a stylist that can work with that in our area. I have watched so many haircare and hair cutting videos that at age 10 I chopped off 4 inches of my friend's hair, and it looked good. Her mom hates the fact that my friend doesn't want super long, straight hair but she can't figure out where my friend is getting her hair cut. Obviously, her 10 year old friend isn't the first person you'd suspect.

@That one person I'm assuming they mean that when looking at these and videos where people are failing at their hair, Brad would technically have the opportunity to be really toxic about them. However instead he tries his best to be nice where he can, and makes sure to point out when it looks good and stuff (from what I've seen anyway). There are other youtubers that aren't as nice
He's not even trying to be nice. I don't think he thinks badly of these people at all, he is so humble. I love when you tubers / people with money are truly on normal people's level and say oh yes £40 is expensive for this or that and realise that not everyone has amazing hairdresser skills like him. When I went on chemo my hair started falling out. So I spent an entire day cutting wild styles into my hair. It was so much fun! I also learned I could rock a Mohawk

lol story time! when I was twelve my neighbor tripped onto me and we both fell in a ditch, we were both fine but my hair was NASTY in the front, so my mom took me to get a fringe to fix it and I...hated it. then for haloween we put cheap spray on black dye onto my (medium deep) brown hair to go with my cleopatra costume. when I took a shower afterwards the dye came mostly off my hair, only to dye my skin gray. and THEN it was picture day for my home school group three days later, when my skin was still not quite alive looking but not quite zombie looking, and I actually kinda liked my hair. I was on my way to needing glasses but didnt have them yet, so my mom was like just far enough away that my eyes couldnt focus on the camera very well, so now I have this one photo of me sitting in an autumn forest, and my kinda serene unfocused look with my weirdly greyed out skintone without looking like a zombie made me look like Angelica Huston as Morticia Addams with a cleopatra hair cut.

The reason I think people assume drastic/impulsive haircuts = crazy because our hair has a lot to do with our identity, how we view ourselves, and how we want to be perceived. Unless a girl has a history of changing her hair regularly, the only gals I know who do a big hair change are also going through a big change in their lives. Yours included! I went from long hair to pixie because I had a baby lol see also: Angela Bassett cutting her hair short in Waiting to Exhale :)

I did cut my hair short at the beginning of the pandemic, I am a doctor and i was in too tired to clean it every single time I came home, so I am now rocking a super short pixie, because hair grows and its cool to experiment with it, I'd never done it if it wasn't for you Brad!!! Ps those are nurses scissors, here in Mexico we call them tijeras de botones.

16:26 those my friend are trauma shears lol. Also called bandage scissors. They're used in the medical field for everything from removing bandages to cutting someone's clothes off in an emergency. Definitely *not* kids scissors lol.
Those mfs stay sharp after cutting off a plaster cast off someone's leg... They are not precision tools though.

The last two weeks he was in and out almost every day or other day. It was a revolving door. Then he left for a hospital and went into hospice there. He went on to glory on July 23, 13. When I started chemo I had a couple of weeks before my hair started falling out and I did try several different haircuts before it was all gone. I was told to try different styles to see if I liked them and maybe wanted to get a wig in that style. I first got a lob, then a chin length bob, a pixie and then I had it shaved off. A hair stylist who is also a cancer survivor and sort of specializes in styling wigs for people with medical hair loss suggested having it shaved with the clippers set at #2 so that’s what I did. Then I went home and used one of those tape lint rollers to get all the little hairs out so I had a smooth, shiny bald head rather than it looking like a 5 o’clock shadow. It was really nice to do it all at once because I really didn’t want to watch it fall out slowly and get stringy and patchy along the way. I met several women who refused to shave their heads and tried to hang on the the little bits that were still there and it really wasn’t flattering and nobody was fooled by it. I also met a couple of women who never let anybody see them without their wig on, including at home in front of their husbands and children. I get that your hair is your “crowning glory” or something like that but bald is beautiful, too. I hated wearing the wig that I ultimately got and preferred going au naturel or just wearing a hat if it was cold.

@@phoenixdavida8987 Thank you so much! I’m doing great now and have been in remission for about five years now. My hair has grown back, but I still use that picture a lot. My granddaughter has alopecia and we want her to feel positive about being bald. I think she actually really likes it because it’s dramatic and unique, just like her!

this is exactly what my mom did while she was on chemo! she gradually cut her hair shorter before going bald- and this allowed for her to explore several hairstyles that she’d been too scared to try beforehand. she’s officially cancer-free now and keeps her hair in a short pixie (a style she’d never have tried had it not been for the chemo). it was a great way to find some good in a really scary situation. i’m glad to hear that you’re doing well now! :D

You shouldnt cut your hair with any other scissors beside hair cutting scissors and if you use them to cut anything else besides hair it ruins the blade and is useless. Take care of yo hair people

And that is why i will never have bangs again. When my mom agreed I was old enough to take care of my hair like big girl ~3rd grade I had short hair and bangs and I grew it out. It took years to stop looking weird. Viva la late 90s/early 2000s flippy flat clips. I didn't fully ditch the Sephiroth look untill 8th grade when I did my first hair donation and started fresh.

Yess and with anxiety I have it! like panic attacks and people are panicking and they are like “I’m litterly having a panic attack” and they are just scared but when I have a panic attack it’s like I can’t breath and I feel like I’m about to die

It was so scary and traumatising for me because I was literally dribbling water whilst my mother was attempting to get me to drink water to rehydrate. I felt like a baby because I couldn't even swallow for several hours. Panic attacks can very literally be debilitating!

"A lot" of research on this topic can definitely be done in the same day as the decision to do it and the actual doing it 😂 when your hair is that long and it's taken years to get it that way, deciding to chop it later in the current day is VERY impulsive 😛
I happen to think about something for a long time and research but never decide to do it. Then, the exact moment when I jump to it is super impulsive. That could have happened as well.

Your face shape isn't what would determine workable colors though, your skin tone would be the more important component, and I think you have a good tone to offset cool colors! 😊 I'm obsessed with all things teal, it's the only color I wear really, but it would look absolutely awful on my hair because of my skin tone which bums me out!!!
