My first watch was on my 18th birthday 1982, it was a Rotary, after decades of Rotary decline I still feel nostalgia for Rotary. Might buy one for my lads 18th!
Must admit I've got a bit of a soft spot for Rotary. I've got 2, so has my wife, they're durable and reliable. Enjoyed the review, cheers.
Love the fact that the larger watch brands have noticed your channel, all your vids are great (so i hope more brands will contact you) :D
I feel honoured!
0:17, loving the prowler look around. Your Crimestopper game is strong.
Congrats on this! Happy to see brands getting in touch with you.
hi Dan, great review as always. Glad that Rotary came to you for this.
Looks like a great watch - I have the 'Hulk' Super 7 - partly inspired your review over a year ago (and still really pleased with it!)
Definitely will be considering this, particularly in the yellow.
Love the dial color! Another micro adjustment would be welcome. I'm personally not a fan of cyclops magnifier but not a deal breaker. I have a few Miyota 8215 movements and they have always performed well for me so I don't get the disdain for the movement? Not a bad watch at all but drop the price a bit and it's a winner! Nice to see something other than an Aliexpress watch on your channel. I do like those watches but nice to see something different.
Great review.
Cheers!
Thank you! I do try and mix in as many different bands when I can. Micro brand reviews aren't hugely popular, but I still like to do them to support innovation and new business. I so like to support British brands, hence Accurist and Rotary getting a look in! Then we have the delights from Japan with Citizen and Seiko!
Congrats on the name brand recognition! Long overdue, imho. Your reviews are crisp, insightful, thoughtful, humourous, and (most importantly) helpful. I’m sure this is the first of many.
Great looking watch, love the review. Do wish it had two things you mentioned: orange dial and tapered strap. Thanks for this.
Thanks for your kind words Chad! I'm really hoping to build more brand relationships next year, and find some great watches for you all! 🙏
Hmmmm… Seamaster minute hand and Mercedes hour hand? Seamatic, sound vaguely familiar… 8215 movement is the one you use when you can’t get an NH35 or are pinching the pennies. I like the colour palette and the case back is very nice. It’s not a bad effort, and I love to buy British, but it feels like Rotary’s best designs were in the past, they made some glorious dress watches.
🎉Congratulations my friend 🎊. Such a historic brand calling you is wonderful, and testament of how much your channel has grown and is going places. Keep it up 👍
Thanks so much my friend! Appreciate that
Congrats for well known brands reaching out to you and send you pieces for review dan. I like this watch and how it's designed. I agree with you about the cyclops. The finishing of the date frame is acceptable for the price, but better leave it unmagnified. I noticed that this particular copy of the 8215 had the Miyota stutter.
Thanks Alex. I'm so chuffed they contacted me. I always love sharing watches with you all, but its hugely flattering when I get contacted!
Good luck to you chief. I had a look when I saw the image. Fine watches mate 👍👌
Nice show! am not going to repeat your justified comments re - case ET -AL, but a lot of folks rubbish Miyota Movt,s , was kind of brought up on them really as a kid going to work on Moped with a " Citizen 7 " yeah ? looked like a Rolex. Had shed loads of watches with Miyota,s . But , there must be some kind of trade requirement here between Miyota & Rotary ( Given the British stuff?) either, Miyota japanese technicians ? or Chinese techs are regulating these movements because in three weeks of useage the accuracy is frankly astonishing on my blue example, also exactly same on my hulk example, I kind of have watch nerd experience with Miyota,s and whilst never questionably un accurate on my Promasters and Reidencchild Pilots, these movements are excellent! maybe I got lucky? ( twice)!
I don't know why I have not bought a Rotary yet I do look at them I like the Swiss/British heritage of the brand and maybe this model is the one that I might just go for. Your black strap on it definitely better than the bracelet. Good review
Thanks Stewart
great review and a fantastic looking well-made watch always great content and with the Price creep on most Ali express watches at present this makes sense to me to buy
Dan, the answer to your question is: Yes. Nice watch, good review.
Review suggestion: Accurist 7219 Dress/sports watch 100m WR, with Sapphire £55 delivered next day, 40mm, 20mm lugs, solid links, solid end links. From Accurist themselves
I agree, i have one ready for review!
Perfect!
Lovely watch. I done a review a while ago on this model. Only thing missing in my opinion is the Miyota 821a movement with Hand winding and hacking!
Congrats on big brand stepping up for your channel Wow I really think that will help the growth of the channel and yes I do like Rotory my still has her tank style Rotory that I got her over ten years ago and still working fine and I would keep that on the rubber strap looks amazing Thanks my friend 👍
Thanks Michael! I really hope I can get more brands on board. Its fun sharing new releases with you all.
Its a solid offering, I agree, they should have removed the cyclops - it doesn't do it any favours, but other than that its a nice watch. I like the bold yellow dial and hand choice and its has its own character. I would have liked to have seen the 821a instead as its a better movement. But I like it.
Great watch, love the color, solid brand, I like it. Rotary now on the list. Thanks, Dan, congrats on the first time. You are very infotaining, love your sense of humor.
I love this, i own a orange doxa, but would like this to add to my collection as a fun watch but with good spec, solid end links is a real bonus 😊 going to check out your business 'off the cuff' now 👍🏻
Thank you for the great review!
Thanks for contacting me, I'm very honoured! I'm glad you like the review 😊
@@watchmewithwatches we will keep you posted with our new launches.
Great looking watch just found my Christmas present thanks for the look I aso like that strap but iv got just over81/2inc wrist size so most straps just fit in less they do Extra large thanks for look at a great peace
I could get my dad to try it on with this strap, he has a big wrist.
Nice colour, another micro adjust, would be nice.
Overall, nice Looking watch.
Nice case back, nice lume.
Love the yellow dial and do like the handset but not so keen on the cyclops date window.
I do have a Rotary watch, a Chronospeed I bought many years ago but haven't worn in a long time.
Great review! Just noticed Rotary have now got an orange option on their website - and it looks great. I think the best thing about this watch is the handset - looks great. Personally, I’d love them to do a 40mm 10mm thick, no-date Quartz version - based on the Henley GMT.
Thanks! It's such a nice watch for the amount they charge, and the fun colours really help keep it fresh and different to the norm.
Awesome review!!
Thanks Heath! 😊
It didn't immediately strike me as being Submarinish, didn't even enter my head until you said it. Very nice, definitely different enough to justify its existence.
Also, I think you should ONLY ever be sent yellow and black watches from now on.
Great video, sir
Three very good things about this watch: aesthetically it is very pleasing, it is NOT a homage and it actually trumps San Martin price-wise due to the elephant in the room - the extra 20% VAT that is whacked on to SMs etc which is starting to kill the idea of them as an unbeatable value proposition.
How is this not a homage?you mean not a clone/replica
@@oaoaoas it's not an homage at all. It's completely original. Original hands, original dial.
Good job Rotary! Its got to be the best speced watch from an actual brand for the money. I wish Seiko would take note of what Rotary are doing. Nice review.
Thanks Michael, I think overall the value for money with this one is great.
I really like Rotary watches and have the the orange and green Super 7s on bracelets which are nice divers at their price points. This seems to have a lot of of the Super 7s DNA that Rotary can call its own and not share the credit with Watch Nation. The case profile, band and clasp all look identical but bezel on this one is a bit different and slightly tapered, which as you point out, takes some of the height off of the head. The super 7s can be a little top-heavy. I agree to with your point about the bracelet needing more of a taper - that makes me think they are using the Super 7s rather than making a new bracelet. The yellow dial really looks like the nicest of the bunch but again, it looks like they recycled the Super 7s indices. The cyclops maybe wouldn't have looked so odd if they hadn't framed the date window. And the skeleton handsets look like they came from their skeleton line. So other then the case back, I think this is a bit of a miss since it's taking a place in their catalog that's already filled and it's not really that original but rather something that's been put together from other watch lines in their catalog. But if it's an anniversary run, it may not stick around, which is probably good.
Excellent and interesting points. Thanks for sharing, and watching my review. Regards, Dan.
I've owned a few Rotarys over the years and they've always been great. Nothing special but great. This one is really nice but a bit too "polished" for my personal taste, I prefer dive (tool) watches to be brushed, but that's just me. Great review as always. Cheers.
Thanks Paul! I have enjoyed seeing their products develop over the years, and think even more fun and interesting watches will come!
A whole year of your cool channel! Happy you are getting sponsorship. This is not a "me too" watch like S.M.
Thanks mate, im hoping this is the start of even more exciting things!
I looked at these, but settled on the Rotary Super 7 SCUBA in orange with stainless strap. I'm just not that big a fan of the hollow hands. Good review though.
This is a variation of the Rotary Super 7 Scuba. The case and bracelet are the same but with a date only movement. I have the orange dial version and it's a very well made watch. Imo equal to anything San Martin do in that price range plus a bit of heritage behind it. Rotary have really started upping their game recently.
I agree, I look forward to what comes next. I would like to see an everyday sports watch with snazzy dial!
Brilliant! That is how you do it, Seiko.
Great to see sapphire and ceramic become more popular with entry level but mass appeal brands
I agree, its about time!
I think people need to be made aware about the sweeping hand stutter on this movement. It can look rather alarming if you’re not used to it. I almost took mine back as faulty.
I love my seamatic although I would have gone with an updated movement
That looks like a lovely, well spec'd watch for a good price. Sure its not as cheap as the AliExpress specials, but it's certainly price competitive with other, non-fashion watches you would likely find at a High Street shop. I compare that watch to the Bulova Devil Diver reissue. Bulova put a $795 RRP on that, and it also has an 8215 movement. And as with Bulova (and Seiko, for that matter), it's unlikely that very many people will pay the full RRP.
Fantastic review Dan. I think Rotary makes really nice watches. This diver is an excellent piece and good value for money overall. Do wish it had the NH35 or upgraded Miyota, but the existing Miyota 8215 movement is tried & true and I don't care about rotor wobble. I believe it is important to support brands that have history, honestly invest in R&D, strive to offer great customer service and will offer support if any issues arise. Thumbs up mate on this beautiful watch 👏🙌👍🙏
Thanks Felo, I agree with you on the customer support and also backing brands with history. People still value that sometimes. Its still an enjoyable watch to wear, and looks unique. 👌
I have a GT monza needs a new stem and crown nice old watch parts seem to be a problem. Found a stem and crown so I can use the watch but they dont lock down as they should . It would be nice to find the parts
There may be a generic part that will work. Try cousins, they sell vast amounts of watch components, and you could buy a set of different stems and crowns to get one that works for you.
It is a nice watch I like the yellow dial and the loom
Yellow is lovely for a gloomy day, then the lume is good for the night!
I bought a rotary Lexington dress watch model in 1999 for C$300 I wore it for four years until I bought a Tissot automatic and I gave the rotary to my dad he still where is it
Nice watch good review but whats the Henley connection ?
Henley-on-Thames? Thanks
Probably is!
Congratulations 👏
Congratulations hopefully they send more in, huge tick in the reviewers box I'd imagine....cracking review as always buddy....I do like this watch, the price is great considering they are a very well established high street brand....there's only two things that nip me a little....1.the cyclops and 2.the highly polished case.... however I can live with the polish but would have to remove the cyclops, neither are deal breakers....I'd be more than happy to add one of these to my collection....the case back looks fantastic....do I want a San Martin in my collection, yes, in fact I have my eye on a couple but I wouldn't choose one over this Rotary....🏴⌚🏴⌚
Thanks Brian, I do hope to work with more brands next year. Let's see what happens!
@@watchmewithwatches have my fingers crossed for you, the channel is definitely heading in the right direction....next year will be an even better year....🏴⌚🏴⌚
@@briancolyer8483 thanks Brian! I'm working my ass off!
@@watchmewithwatches it's paying off, hopefully as things progress you might be able to produce some of those stands and trays....when the boss isn't looking....all the best to you and the family....🏴⌚🏴⌚
@@briancolyer8483 you too Brian, enjoy the rest of your weekend 😀 👍
I really like it what great value for money Rotary is a bona-fide Swiss watch company I know it has a bullet proof miyota engine but Rotary do manufacturer some watches with a Swiss automatic or handwound movement why buy a san martin a company with zero heritage..... Incidentally Rotary was the watch that started me on my horology obsession I still have the watch in my collection purchased from HL BROWN jewelers in 1973 still in its original box with warranty and receipt for £24.... This hand cranked Rotary is in fine fettle and working well keeping good time.... Iam considering buying one of these divers it's a no brainer really under £300 from a watch company with 125 years of heritage... What's not to like? 👍
Well said sir!
I like this Rotary Wasp.
It’s a bit big for me, I would have preferred a 39mm case, no cyclops and brushed finished case.
But great specs for the price.
I agree, I think people like a chunky watch when it's a 300m diver. A watch for people who expect something to feel substantial.
🙌🙌 top review sir 🙌🙌 looks a good around watch, probably not the best to run a 10k in tho 😂
Lol, my left arm would be bigger for sure!
183g, I thought my MTG B2000 was heavy at ~150g. Yikes.
P.S. Is the number "1" in "1000ft" meant to look like that?
I'd prefer a Rotary instead of an Aliexpress Chinese San Martin all day long. I'm surprised that was even questioned.
If it can smaller a bit in size (>40mm) will be more suit my tiny wrist. Nice watch otherwise. Thanks for your great review.
Dan can you do a head to head with your £250 Rotary and the new *£150 Orange Dial Cestrian Dive Series ‘Tiger’ Orange Dial Black Ceramic Bezel Steel Bracelet Automatic 300M please*??
for price and specs and even history, might as well get the old invicta pro diver
You could do, its all down to personal taste in the end.
Hi, why do rotary do this and the super7?
I don't know for sure. The super7 may have been created in conjunction with a retailer.
@@watchmewithwatches thanks
I have skinny wrists. My bro gave my dad a big snide Rolex .looked real but to big . Rotary have smaller watches why I like them
The white tip of the hour hand is a big fail, the rest looks good
I agree 👍
Myota 8 series... At this price,a 9 series is expected. They could keep the height to 13mm then. Looks good otherwise. I like the brand
Very nice looking watch nice review but let's be realistic $330 . Is an outrageous amount of money for that watch my last high dollar was $159 $25 coupon 134 shipped and received I put it up against this thing in a second.
I'm used to 'accents', yours is fine, however when you said "ass" I almost fell out of my seat, interesting considering I'm on the couch with a 130+ lbs of Presa-Dane dog draped over my lower extremities! ... I subscribed.
Lol! Great to have you on board
As the hot newcomer they did right by you Dan. Super proud
Thanks Erwin! 😊
Can't say the skxa35 has anything to worry about
Is that the discountinued seiko with hardlex, hollow end links, pressed clasp and similar movement? 🤔
@@watchmewithwatches seiko is missing a trick not selling a yellow dial dive uso rated 200m watch
Ofcourse yellow monster 👻 👽 💛
I don't know, maybe I'm a watch snob because for some reason i would never consider buying a Rotary
a nice looking and well built piece but at that price it should have a 9000 series myota and at the end of the day its still a chinese watch
I think the high beat movements are generally saved for even more premium watches for high Street retail models. I think the average consumer isn't too clued up between regular and high beat movements.
Not a fan of the cyclop over the date on any watch, too much of disturbance.
You are like me, I have one on my devil diver which is one of the few I really like
@@watchmewithwatches me too I made the mistake once and i still have the Seiko chronograph with a cyclops and all the goddamn Sunburst thing going on and now it all bugs me so much I can barely look at the watch but I still have it LOL.
