I couldn’t help but to make this video so long! There is a lot to discuss with this watch and share with you. I hope you enjoy, as I discuss the details you need to know, and there are a few nice pictures in there too. I also show the strap versions that this watch is available with.
Although I got this watch cheaper on eBay without a box from a trusted seller, these watches are still great value at around £200 on the silicone strap. Available of course from Watch Nation, or many other grey market retailers and Rotary directly as well!
Watch Nation have worked well with Rotary to create a real value for money watch that has individual styling, as well as offering the right spec for this to be a dive watch!

You can back hack this movement by holding the hands in reverse. The 8205 is a good longterm reliable movement requiring little servicing for approx 10 years. Excellent build, quality brush/ polish finishing, superb bezel action and great lume. Minute and bezel pip in blue lume, minute hand with black surround. For the money a 300m dive watch that does the job well. Good job Rotary. Nice review sir.
Keep up all the great reviews nice watch for the money these look! I’ve just bought a seiko 5 sport (in orange) also like these might buy one next.!

Just picked up the Pepsi version for $230 USD shipped. I was originally looking at a few Seikos and automatic Citizens but when I found this for well under $250, it was an easy decision.
Thanks for the review Dan. This is certainly an able new player in the territory. Very SKX like, but with the crown at 3 and better specs. The lume on the minute hand and the lume pip being separately colored from the rest of the watch lume really makes sense from a dive timer point of view. The brand Rotary seems popular and regarded as good value in the UK. Maybe they can win some territory worldwide with this watch. Take care.
That is a great looking watch. I agree that value in a watch is about more than specs; often it is about a connection we form with the brand’s history.
Well the power of your video....which i thank you for.... I had already researched this watch before viewing your video... I had researched many within my budget and the favourite was The Orient or the Rotary.... I was put off the Rotary due to what appeared a weakness in the crown wheel... The Rotary is not perfect either and you have isolated its faults well in your video.... Three days later the postman delivered the same watch and colour as in your video... My preference was black, but the green one was being sold privately on E-bay at very good price... I thought at the price of (£95)
it was worth taking a chance as it had hardly been worn... Well, the watch arrived and is way above my expectations... I had intended to order the green strap as per your video and had actually looked on your website yesterday to order... I held off in case the watch didnt arrive... However, the watch has arrived and i still holding back, only because the strap it comes with is by far the most comfortable strap i have ever experienced and i can assure i have tried loads.... So i am reluctant to change it though, i did think your coulour coordination with your green strap was fabulous and it enhanced the green of the watch much better than the black strap does... I may in due course order the green and transfer the black strap onto another 22 lugged watch... If and when i do i will order from you..

Its a very nice harrods like green as well, beauty, reminds me of the skx a little and that cant be a bad thing seeing how many of seiko sold lol
Really enjoyed the video. Thanks. I have a ceramic bezel version. These watches are great value, especially if you get a good condition used. Weirdly lots of these with no boxes on eBay, so suggests potentially someone on wish or similar platform might be carrying these (maybe). If you were able to push higher I’d recommend a Certina DS Diver or a used Hydroconquest - although these have crept up in value to around £500+ used.
It’s really nice to see someone review a cost friendly brand that isn’t Chinese or homage. They have their uses but it’s nice to see this kind of watch reviewed. Along with Citizen who make some amazing watches, Rotary make one or two killers.
I'm not very fond of the color green but this watch looks pretty. I love the case,bezel,case back,strap and design. I would change the crown,hour hand and maybe the movement.
It would be nice if you could make a review about Rdunae 6105-8000 from WR Watches. I think it's a very interesting option t a very good price. Thanks for another great video and for sharing it with us.

This watch looks gorgeous on the green tropic strap, perfect choice! And the fact that the rotor wobble or noise isn't very noticeable on this watch bodes well for the overall quality of the watch. Cheers👍

Thanks Dan & G'evening 😎 . Coming from a former Roadie /stagehand that new microphone sounds good, it's got nice clarity to it. I like that rotary and rotary is definitely on my bucket list. I just picked up two genuine lorus musical Mickey Mouse watches for my girlfriend to replace one she used to have she was telling me about and a 3rd that was listed as a guy's watch that had an interesting almost meteorite style dial that I just had to see that just arrived in the post. It' has a gold tone 35mm case but it needs a new 16mm strap. to make it look more like a guy's watch I was thinking a black or possibly khaki nato strap so I'll definitely check out your eBay store and add it to my favorite Sellers List. if I decide not to keep it she'll just have 3 Mickey watches so it's a win-win either way 😋 .

Impressive,rotary always good value I've got a few, the latest aGMT I bought about 2 years ago,the oldest 2 datejust homages I bought in 1989 one quartz one automatic both still working perfectly.

Looks fantastic on that green tropic strap. Almost like a ‘military’ dive watch with that colour green on the dial. In fact, with the amount of rain we’re having in the UK at the moment I think a dive watch is essential when out and about. Like the quality and attention to detail and the fact that if there is an issue I presume you can take it into a citizen AD rather than having to send it abroad like you do with AliExpress watches? Enjoyed the review and great job to the guy at Rotary who was the brainchild behind this.
It would be easier to sort a problem (although very unlikely to have a problem) with a rotary watch.

With super tight fitting solid end links you have to do both ends of the springbar at the same time, tricky but not impossible, I have a strapcode bracelet which is the same. There is a special tool you can get but I do it with 2 cheap springbar tools, if you can get the two ends between the lugs you're half way there.
Looks amazing. Great colors, bezel and dial should not be matched, looks perfect this way. I couldn't believe how well it looked on tropic and leather. All my watches have hacking, but I could live without it - you can be at most 30s off if you set minute hand correctly. Finish seems to be very good, slightly above Parnis or Pagani. I wonder how does it stack against San Martin or Cronos watches (similar price). I can get Kamasu cheaper, but it looks better than Kamasu.

im wearing the pepsi version and its fantastic. Its a chunky boy though...def a presence on the wrist, but not crazy heavy by any means.

£200 for an automatic diver with sapphire from a western brand (obviously still made in Asia) is great value

This looks to be a great divers' watch but they have missed a trick by not having drilled lugs as shown by your inability to put the bracelet back on. Good review.
Hi mate. Just getting into watches. Ive had a couople of rotarys coincedentally but now after watching your mod and review vids im getting interested in the hobby. Will the brown strap on this fit the pagani. I want to fiddle with a pagani as it seems a good little base to play with without being too scared
Great watch to start with. The pagani (40mm case size for certain) has a 20mm lug width, so any 20mm strap will fit. Then other mods get trickier but the results are bigger!

I just ordered one. I was think a SanMartin water ghost diver. Hulk. Well I wanted something different so I got the Rotery hulk on strap. Main reason I got it on a strap instead of the bracelet I probably wanna get an engineered strapcoat bracelet something really nice for this. There’s one major downside to this watch. You probably already know what it is. Yes the movement don’t know why they did not use the Seiko Nh36. I think the miyota 8215 is dated without hacking. At least rotery could use the upgraded version of the 8215 because it hacks. Hopefully they will put it in their next production run. I don’t care too much as long is the movement is accurate

This one was on my radar, but at £250 (orange face with stainless bracelet) the Miyota non hacking movement put me off. I ended up going for the Islander which was £12 cheaper inc postage. I appreciate I have a wait and duties to pay, but I still think It'll be worth it.
Oh, by the way, it was your fault I bought the Islander, as I was watching your heimdallr review, which was also on my maybe list, but inconsistent build quality put me off.

Cookies and cream for the Americans, Fish and chips for the English, who's price point for then, the Gibberish ? 😁 The watch- it's come down in price, it started at £250 and now it's £200, certainly more appealing at this price. I've seen it referred to as an skx with a 3 o'clock crown. At this price, yes. As always , good stuff Dan.
P.s. My watches from Ali turned up, the pagani GMT and Daytona, excellent. But the cadisen, the crown unscrewed and fell off when I tried to set it. Bit of loktite and it's sorted. Oh and I bought a couple of your straps, Stop costing me money !

Great review! I emailed Rotary and Watchnation as I won a Pepsi on silicone strap on eBay for £90. I wanted to buy the super 7 bracelet to swap out. Turns out the lugs are different on the silicone strap versions and won’t take the bracelet ☹️ Reckon I’ll have mine on a Milanese - just need to find a decent one. Any recommendations?

Good review. Seconds hand could have been orange, bezel orange and green and perhaps thicker engraved letters. Still, a beautiful watch and perhaps the only one that has ticked so many boxed in this price range for me.

@@watchmewithwatches Had mine now for two weeks and initially, i was disappointed because it looked small on my 7.75 inch wrist but literally by the hour, I grew into it and have not taken it off. It's getting lots of positive comments too.
It's obvious they were trying to hit a price point and get features in there, and make it well built. Maybe for extra brick and mortar sales. Obviously the case and bracelet are awesome (if you never take the bracelet off).
Cheaping out on the movement is probably fine for most people, and it's not like it's a sketchy movement or bad, but to me, a Miyota 8000 series is a big no for over $150. I find that the power reserve from these are significantly worse than stated, but are otherwise fine.
Different strokes for different folks, but I would wear an actual turd on my arm if it had an ETA in it. Like a cow turd though, not like a dog. And before it turns all white and stuff. Imagine a nice high beat cow turd on a vintage leather Geckota strap. That's what I'm talking about.
Love an ETA cow turd. Great for environmental awareness, yet practical at the same time.
I think some Ali express brands are already doing that mate but with pt5000's instead. 😁

I own a few watches with an 8000 series movement, while I agree with you in principle, in practice, they are no trouble to live with and you soon forget they don't hack.
I would like to have seen the minute marks stop at the 15 instead of the 20. Make it align with the day, date and crown.

Rotary is a Chinese company, its not British, however only for PR purposes. Similar to Loreo as well as their business operations.
Clearly a lot to like here, but like the islander watches its just lacking that element of originality in the design
Nice job Dan. This is the third review I've seen of this and the clincher. It's a nice watch but not nice enough. Something is missing, I don't know what, handset, bezel font I don't know but I can't get past the "meh" factor it's just a bit too generic.
Going to the black dial next?
Rotary brand + Miyota movement + sapphire crystal+ 100/200m water resistant.... Affordable and decent watch.
300m/1000 ft water resistant actually.

I'm not sure the "best" 200 pound diver should have a miyota movement.
Its a shame, its not terrible as a movement. Just not as refined. Some argue though the unidirectional winding is actually more reliable and durable.
