Maybe it's a bit OCD of me, but there's one thing that has made me use an Xperia phone for the past 6 years. The screen. No, not because they have better screens than any other manufacturer, it's because they don't have any daft potholes, notches, pillholes etc in them. Just can't use any phone with one. The screen holes just catch my eye and I can't unsee them.

Yes, even the curved bezel on the Huawei P20 Pro was distracting for me. Sony has kept things classic, practical, no-nonsense. The only thing that the Xperia 1 VI lacks is the anti-glare Gorilla Armor, which is also stronger than Victus 2.

One thing that rubs me the wrong way is how people criticized Sony's "overkill" 4K display and wanted a lower resolution, yet now present the FHD+ display as inferior to Samsung's BECAUSE OF the inferior ppi. What do people want? Lower resolution, or higher?

Hello Ken, I got mine last Monday, so some six days ago. I’ve been experimenting with it and I’m very satisfied although there is still a lot to discover. I’ve been next to my Motorola which I am quite satisfied with, anyway. But, I’m an Alpha Sony camera user, so this is more than a natural choice for me. However the technical specs convinced me to finally buy a plus €1000 or dollar or pounds phone… This only has so many advantages like the 190 g of weight, the three-point 5 Jack, deck, the nice Grippie feel of the whole thing and the extra ordinary battery life, that you mentioned. At the moment I’m experimenting with its battery life myself…

I changed from S23 ultra to Xperia 1 V last year after my Samsung stopped charging. And it's light years better. Screen better, speakers better, premium feel is better with Sony. And no disrespect to you making this video, but my wife has the ultra and we just got back from Bermuda and my Sony phone took better pictures pretty much in every situation. The camera is not as hard to master as everyone says. I basically keep it on P or program mode most of the time and it's just as good with points and shoot as my wife's Samsung. And unlike Samsungs zoom which is all digital and produced with AI, Sony's phone has a real zoom. The only advantage to the Samsung is the software is a little more polished and smooth. Not surprising though because my Sony TV destroys my wife's Samsung as well. I mean it's not even close. Sony is quality and Samsung is quantity.

Next year's Xperia 1 VII will have that anti glare coating but I can't wait till than as my current phone Xperia 1 ii is very nearly 4 years old now and it's getting slow and losing juice it doesn't last me a day anymore so I have to upgrade this year but it's still a cracking phone and next year's Xperia will probably have a 1440p screen and less battery life 🔋 🤷‍♂️ I just can't decide on colour, I like the silver but I don't know about looking at those silver bezels all day every day the black is more subtle and sleeker 🤔

Hi! I changed my galaxy s24 ultra to Sony Xperia 1 VI because I'm used to the quality, and unfortunately the galaxy s24 ultra still doesn't offer quality but only quantity over and over again. The Xperia 1 VI offers quality, although the Xperia screen should be a little better than just HDR+, it is compensated by a very long battery life, a pretty good camera with its natural color gamut, a very fast phone, and the Xperia doesn't even have the upgrades that have been done on the s24 ultra and every update made the s24 ultra camera worse and worse and more! This is my description, knowledge and experience at this time and it doesn't have to be suitable for others! Thank you!

I think sonny will add a night mode or tweak the HDR and general brightness of nighttime shots with updates as my 4 year old Xperia 1 ii shoots better night time shots than it used to when new and for most phones it's usually the other way around they get worse as they get older to make you buy the newer model 😆

A 1.5k screen (yes it's the minimum today, and above all, Samsung was criticized for years for its S+ which were "just FHD"), 4 years minimum of Android update (but the smartphone must be released in February at the latest, not 2-3 months before the new Android version and especially the new Snapdragon) because there, it's no longer even 3 years of updating but 2 years in real life, a 1" main sensor, better video stabilization, keeping its niche features (Pro Camera, colorimetry, headphone jack, SD card) by adding mainstream features (better HDR, better photo night mode good auto camera like on iPhones, Galaxy and other smartphones), a "really" good telescopic zoom, and above all a price of $1000- $1100 max, there, Sony will be able to get back into the game.

I have the S24U...great phone...virtually never use the stylus....
I have the Xperia mark 6 on order and waiting for delivery. The thing I care about the least on "any" phone is the camera. I shoot like 10 pictures a year - LOL. ALL recently modern cell phones take better than average pictures for 99% of the population, and they're viewed on a 6 inch screen. They all look just fine. The things the Samsung doesn't have that the Sony does is what I am interested in. All the different hardware features. From reading on various sites I think the cell reception on Mint (T-Mobile) will be just fine. A long distance trip outside of the city may be problematic without N71 but I rarely travel more than a few miles from home as it is! We will see soon enough. If the reception is bad...I will return it and keep the S24U. If the reception is good I will be utilizing Swappa again.

@@josephseman5333 I already have a Sony Xperia 1 VI. I am very pleased, I wouldn't trade it for anything else. For me, the most important thing is the musical quality. But sometimes I use my phones to record videos and take photos for my channels. It turns out that it is not suitable for the films I make. It's not the phone's fault but the software's fault. I don't understand that when you buy such an expensive phone, Sony can't fix it quickly.

what about laggy animations on Xperia ? there is really annoying lag while phone changing refresh rate nobody mentioning. Tested both for 10 days and here is my outcome:
    Xperia
    Audio: more bass, less spacious,
Battery: very good performance, great standby results, drop during the night only 1%
Indoor photos (gray conditions): less noise, more sharp outcome. White balance rather cool, whole shoot is sharp, better macro capabilities.
Indoor photos (dark conditions): much less noise, much sharer outcome, better highlights management
Video overall: lack of sharpness, Xperia 1 V recorded much clearer video over VideoPro app.
Video Zoom: soft, lack of saturation, stabilization could be much better
Video night: needs software improvement, too shaky stabilization, lots of noise.
Additional features: Memory card slot, 3.5mm audio port,
Extra: less premium feeling while holding it in hand, but is much more comfortable due to size and weight
    S24U
Audio: much more specious sound, with slightly less bass.
Battery: great battery performance after updates, average standby, drop during the night by 3%
Indoor photos (gray conditions): more noise, sharpness present in the center of the shot, little green tint, more warm white balance
Indoor photos (dark conditions): much more noise, photo is sharp in the center, worse highlights management
Video overall: much sharper, with higher dynamic range. Little bit more saturated,
Video Zoom: clearer picture, sharper, very good stabilization, saturation is just on the good level,
Video night: lack of lens flares, sharpness is OK, sometimes appearing magenta/green tint.
Additional features: S-Pen, DeX, Antireflecting display coating,
Extra: premium feeling while holding in the hand, little bit less comfortable however with bigger screen.
Verdict: I decided to stay with S24U. This is more complex phone as a whole package (we should remember that phone is not only about camera).
System navigation is smooth and phone has much more features which justify price more than in Xperia case. Sony still needs few software updates to
fix some issues, for instance there is a weird lag which appears while phone changing panel refresh rate. Video has a lot to improve,
there is a lot of sharpening applied to photos in auto mode.

Xperia and Galaxy are not similar at all. To understand this deeply, it is worth knowing that the differences in the way each country thinks are at the root. Sony, which makes Xperia, is a Japanese company. Japan is a country that values naturalness. Therefore, even today, there are few people who want to have cosmetic surgery, and when this becomes clear, they tend not to be viewed favorably. Samsung, which makes Galaxy, is a Korean company. Korea is a country that is greedy to obtain ideal beauty even if it is artificially done. This sometimes leads to the idea that it is okay to be beautiful even if it is a lie. As a result, Korea has become known as one of the world's leading cosmetic surgery powerhouses, and it is a culture in which most beautiful women walking around the city have had cosmetic surgery. This is also connected to the direction of smartphone development, and Xperia cameras tend to value the natural color seen by the eye and do not intervene artificially as much as possible. If I had to say, there is a part that aims to take photos that reflect only the photographer's intentions. Therefore, unless it is intended, AI will almost never add any flavor. On the other hand, Galaxy cameras are exactly like Korea itself, and it is better to take beautiful photos even if they are fake, right? This idea is at the root of it. Therefore, AI also actively intervenes, aiming to take flashy and beautiful photos regardless of who takes them, rather than following the photographer's intentions. As a result, it has succeeded in generating flashy and eye-catching images for social media. However, if you ask whether the photos are tasteful, you will quickly tire of them, so it's safe to say that they are best suited for social media. We can't say which is right, but these two models are clearly suited to different people.
“Why the iPhone sells well to Japanese people.”
It's a very simple story. There are many different types of people in Japan, and the reason is that many people are very brand-dependent. Another factor is that in Japan, it is mainstream for carriers to sell devices, but Apple imposed strict sales quotas on carriers, which led to iPhones being offered at unusually low prices. Therefore, iPhones are especially popular among light users who are not very knowledgeable about smartphones and people who are not very wealthy (however, due to political intervention in this area, more and more people are unable to buy new iPhones because they are too expensive). Also, a strange atmosphere has been created among high school and college students, where people feel that if they don't have an iPhone, they can't join in. In short, many people treat smartphones like fashion items, and carriers sell them at a large discount, and as the number of iPhone users has increased to a certain level, the situation where students cannot communicate well with their friends without using Airdrop has spread.
