The second ingredient in this product is Hydrogen Peroxide. The chemical used as part of the formulation for hair dye. This is where the lift comes from.
You are right about not having to use expensive products when we have other natural cheaper things around. You can use straight lemon juice concentrate or from the actual fruit. Go in the sun and that will lighten up or a blow dryer or even a hooded dryer. However, you must keep the hair moisturized because lemons will dry your hair and cause damage especially around the edges. Moisturize moisturize moisturize.
I'm honestly going to try this because I don't actually wanna dye my hair but if you have a relaxer don't use this! My mom used this back in the day when she had a relaxer and it made her hair fall out because of the combo. Be safe out here lol.
I tried that bs and my hair I hasn't been the same since. It strips your hair of its natural nutrients and it DOES I repeat DOES HAVE CHEMICALS IN IT. My beautician even confirmed that. My hair turned red/brown and had to get cut off because it dried it out and messed up my natural curly texture. Words of advice look at the person on the bottle... IF YOU'RE NOT WHITE OR HAVE THEIR TEXTURE OF HAIR, DON"T USE IT!!!!!!!!!!! Save your time, money, energy, and the damage you will get from it. Have a lovely day
Sun-In does not work with hair dryers ..Just an fyi for all y'all who are about to listen to this woman and fry your hair onto the floor. It works with uv rays from the Sun. The product has peroxide in it which is a lightening agent and very drying & damaging (esp on hair of ppl of color, natural or relaxed). There may not be a faster way to ensure hair breakage than this except perhaps a relaxer. I used to be a hairstylist & the amount of hair damage you'd see from products like these was crazy on both white and black ppl because once put on it "bakes in" in the Sun. There is no neutralizing involved so it just continues to fry your hair. Those precious ends that already need to be babied because it's the oldest part of your hair become dry, brittle, & susceptible to unnecessary damage and breakage. Don't be sheep ladies, do your own research and don't just listen to ppl who have everything to gain from video views.
Carmen L. What do you recommend for lighting or dying hair. I am natural and i don’t want to damage my hair. My hair can get dry very quickly at times, especially my ends.
@@mnmmo2923 I just saw your msg now, sorry for the late reply. There is no way to 100% ensure no damage when you're lightening. The process of lightening itself is damaging by breaking down bonds. But if you're 100% natural and looking for reddish or coppery hues the best way would be to use henna. If you're looking for Blonde highlights like the girl in the video there is no way to achieve that without lifting color, and that's the damaging part. So, just make sure you're starting with healthy hair that is not dry and is free of damage. You never want to lighten hair that's already dry. You also want to "prep" for it by doing several conditioning treatments prior to the lift and you'll want to do several after. And make sure to keep your moisture sealed in with a good oil. There are also a lot of really good highlight sprays on the market now. I would suggest starting with one of those before something permanent. Those can be fun and you can play with different colors and tones and best of all zero chance of damage. Hope this helps ☺.
My uncle bleached his hair blond using just lemon juice and sitting in the sun. Your hair is so pretty. I'm too scared of doing anything to my hair in terms of colour because it's so weak naturally.
The main ingredient in that stuff is hydrogen peroxide. It's just a cheap version of regular hair dye, but it can still do the same amount of damage to your hair. Be careful ladies an do your research
JoiDior Before I saw the video I thought she was going to say she used hydrogen peroxide. My sister used peroxide to lighten her hair in the 90s. But you're right...be careful.
JoiDior Yup ... I mean you know like she said, one of the ingredients is lemon juice or some variation of ascorbic acid but it still has chemicals in it. So like you said: you definitely want to be careful when using it.
My mom bought it and she wants me to try it with her but after reading all the comments, I’m going to have her return it for her sake. She has really thin hair and I’m afraid she will go bald after using it 😭😭
Your hair is gorgeous! I hate to break it to you tho but the active ingredient in Sun In is hydrogen peroxide. That's the active ingredient in developer (the thing that lightens hair.) That's why bleaching powders work. Bleaching powders usually contain a few ingredients that help reveal the cuticle & allow the hair to lighten with continuity versus applying a straight liquid such as developer (which activates the bleach.) Sun In contains water, hydrogen peroxide, aloe, lemon juice & chamomile. I could go into the long details about ph & acid versus alkaline and why the ingredients are there but it'd be dull lol. You can actually make that concoction at home if u wanted to & save your $3 but your hair looks amazing!
"no chemicals" the issh got hydrogen peroxid "nothing harsh" lemon juices pretty acidic and harsh on the hair :/ it never hurts to research or even just repeat ingredient from the back of the bottle before try to inform anyone on a product
3% hydrogen peroxide with 1:1 mix with water isn’t very harmful at all. And lemon juice is way less harmful and less damaging then bleach. Doesn’t hurt to do research
SunIn is not new and my bff used it, then regretted it. Her her looked GORJ for a minute, but the peroxide and inability to control the lightening process ruined her hair. She had to do a SUPER chop for damage control.
PEOPLE WHO R HATING ON SUN IN, why is u here then sis? People who actually enjoy sun in came to this vid. I use sun in for a while and my hair is healthy asf. People have different types of hair 🙃
Ur right Not hating , warning others to be careful with use thats all if u have fine curly hair be careful with use dont do all the time wish someone would have told me before I ruined mine
I used that product years ago when I would get relaxers however my hair fell out after using it. I literally saw my hair wash down the drain! Again that was years ago and I'm natural now.
Not trying to take the shine from this product or video BUUUUT.. if you have natural hair im telling you only use this once (or not to constantly) because it'll dry out your hair. I only recommend this to people w thick, strong, HEALTHY hair.
Lmao!! This brings back so many memories. I didn't even know they still made it. My best friend and I used it in Junior High and it broke our "relaxed " hair off! We was good and honey blonde for about 2 weeks then the breakage began. Lololol...we in our 40' s now.....WOW!!!! Yours is so pretty though!
Kesha De'na I just left a very similar comment. This stuff really brings back memories. I used it to get that Ready For The World blond tip in my bangs
Bahahaha.....i love you!!!! Sun-in was always the secret from 20 years ago. The white girls at my school used because they had no money for highlights. It always looked natural!
use it on just a small bit of hair and leave it for a week or so before doing it all over. results vary from person to person so it my damage your hair or it may not. it's best to have a small piece of hair damaged than all of it because you jumped into something you didn't know would turn out badly
Make sure you reeeeeeally deep condition and take care of your hair. Sun in broke my hair off and damaged my hair. I know everyone’s hair is different tho. It’s pretty tho.
I've used this product to lighten my hair for years and the results are similar. I've not experienced any damage. Though I do make sure to wash and condition my hair when it gets to the color I want. After applying it, I make sure not to fall asleep without washing my hair. The color lasts for the most part until it grows out.
It’s funny how some people say that hydrogen peroxide will damage your hair, but doing anything to alter your hair’s appearance will cause damage, so everything needs to be done in moderation. Wearing a tight pony tail is bad your hair, using cheap shampoo is bad for your hair, using heat tools will damage your hair, being in the sun for too long on a hot day will damage your hair, swimming in the ocean will damage/dry out your hair, coloring or bleaching your hair, almost everything causes damage to the hair. It’s dead so what do you expect? Just don’t put the sun-in directly on your scalp, and wash your hands when you’re done applying it.
@Southern Fern its an example to get her point across. not to compare, I thought that was very clear to come to that conclusion.. but anyways, I heard its a lower concentration of bleach so isn't that somewhat better?

Alikay Naturals Lemongrass spray does this also. I used it one summer and was asked daily if I dyed my hair. I didn’t put two and two together until I watched a video on benefits of lemon and realized that’s what was doing it. If you have natural/black hair, I would use Alikay as opposed to Sun In as it looks like it’s more suited for Caucasian hair. My hair stayed moisturized and not stringy with Alikay. It also works best when you use it and you go in the sunlight since sun shining on the lemon product in your hair is what lightens your hair.

The product is called Sun-In, which is a Spray-In Hair Lightener in Lemon Fresh. You can use it on dry hair, blowdrying it to seal it. You can find it in Walmart and also find it on Amazon for like 6 bucks.
You’re damaging your hair, it’s lightening because it has peroxide in it which is going to make your hair dry and brittle. Would not recommend anyone to put that in their hair.

I would not use Sun In on relaxed/ perm hair.... The main ingredient is peroxide.... I used this product back in 1995, and my hair fell out... I had to get a hair cut (cut low and even all over my head. This product was not for ME.

you look like Eve... good video thanks
Lemon, Honey, Cinnamon, Hydrogen Peroxide!! Major Keys
You're so pretty! How often do ppl say you look like Eve?
Damnnnn she’s a Queen omg so beautiful omfg
Half yall speaking on the damage it done to your curly hair 🤦🏽♀️ sis moisturize. Sis even said she deep conditions after she uses this product. Simmer down simmer down.
It damaged my healthy natural hair. I only used a little bit too. Had to cut it. Super drying.
I wanted to make a mix using Half sun in and half water with a few pumps of conditioner added. Do you think this will damage my hair still?
@@bbydoll1222 You have got to use a good moisturizing conditioner after you use it. Its just like any dye, after you rinse it out you have got to replenish your hair with a good moisturizing conditioner. I hope this helps.
So This can damage ur hair ... next video
Yes thats what I read It does have harsh comicals In it so if anyone were to use it dont use it so much people say its not harmful but It actually Is 🥺🥺🥺🥺 so i be careful while using this product goodluck to anyone who's trying 😋🥰❤❤❤❤❤
@@MsFoxxiLadii So after using the sun In use a good moisturizer it won't be damaged as much?
I really wanna make my hair a lighter blonde but I'm scared I'm going to damage it. 😥 I haven't straightened it for 3+ years now

They still sell "Sun In" in 2018???
Press Secretary Nevis lol I just said the same thing. I was using it in the 80's!
Yeah they still sell it. I just got mine today from Walmart ☺️ always wanted to dye my hair a nice brown but never had the time. But, idk if it depends on where you live tho I’m in Maryland. B-More reppin😝😘 lol
Lol I’m still seeing commercials on UA-cam with some whiteys running around in the beach swinging their hair
As long as people want lighter hair this will be on the market.
Press Secretary Nevis are you from SKB ?
I love your edits! What do you use to edit your videos
Doesn’t Sun- In have peroxide in it?
Linda Evans Johnson YES IT DOES
Linda Evans Johnson yes sunny and has peroxide in it and it keeps on processing your hair and drying out your hair and if it's not already moisturized and got oil and products in it is going to keep trying and I'll keep drying it out unless you wash it out
That's called...CREATIVITY. Thanks for sharing beautiful.
I used it in the 80's and it works, it's been around a while
Rhynda Watson Same here
Is it actually permanent?
I used sun in in HS and it worked great back then. Glad to see its still poppin.
Lovely K I used it in College and loved it
Is the color permanent? Like will it be like that forever
How do you get your baby hairs to stay down like that 😩 mine just curl right up
Maya Sheffield try a scarf
Girl I promise you, go to your local beauty supply store and ask for Ebin 24 hr edge control, it’s about $3,.99 in mine ( or the 48 hr which is a little more expensive) that stuff is the only non gel edge control that LAYS my 4c edges, I don’t even use a scarf or water. I really hope this works for you💕
SJ1210 thank you. I’ve had that before but only used it for probably a week and it didn’t work but maybe I wasn’t using it right or something , probably not using enough maybe. But thank you I’ll try the 48 hour one
Maya Sheffield try gorilla ear wax it holds all day
Maya Sheffield no do not try the 48 hour one . It is worse than the 24 hour one
My whole life I thought that was sun screen.
Omgosh! I just came across your video looking for hair dye tutorials and you are BEAUTIFUL QUEEN!!!! Your makeup is on point!
You look at little like Eve
Growing up I thought my mom had natural brown hair, until she told me it was sun in the whole time. I thought she started dying it black to cover greys lol
This is so old school 70s80s my sis and I use to do this. Lol
Hi! Where did you get that bandana from???😀😀😀😀
I love sun in I use it in the summer to lighting my hair around my face. You don't want to use it to much because it will dry out your hair.
that is so damaging to your hair
I just live for your personality
I love the way this product colors my hair- I use it every summer!
I would not use Sun In on relaxed/ perm hair.... The main ingredient is peroxide.... I used this product back in 1995, and my hair fell out... I had to get a hair cut (cut low and even all over my head. This product was not for ME.
Dorian E sun in was everywhere back in the day!!!
Exactly! Lol!
Dorian E I guess it depends becuz I used it on my permed hair in College during the 80's and I had luck with it didnt wsnt to dye my hair so this is what I used
Oh wow I had no idea they still sell that stuff!
Used that stuff years ago and it damaged the shot out of my hair. Maybe they have a new formula now
Dime Hall .
Hydrogen peroxide
Bro please don’t use this🤦🏾♀️it destroyed my natural hair texture and made my hair break off
Because It has harsh comicals
Always do your research before applying something on your hair or what someone on youtube says No shade i love this youtuber but sun in can damage
@@tammydbrown1975 same stuff as dye
So cool! And your makeup is gorge 🙌🏾
I wanna try this but I'm nervous. Did it make your hair more coarse??
Your hair looks good in both colors
How long does it take for the color to finish outside
Tutorial 😪 please
Girl you’re so beautiful!!! Queennnnn💕💕
hows your face so perfect!?
So it's kind of like peroxide in a spray bottle??
Ak Blue yes.
Yep
