Wholeheartedly agree! A tragically underrated singer and songwriter in terms of mainstream industry but he`s one of these special ones that true fans love to hold as their own like a precious flower. He does it his way, very little press and almost non existent social media presence, like he has been transported from the 50`s/60`s. Loves his ganja too which possibly explains his vocal tonality. Great to see a great singer laud another. Cheers from down under, looking forward to your Brisbane show in October (the city that missed out on the "Easter Is Cancelled" tour due to lock down), we are counting down the days!!

I had never heard of nutini, till 2022. Was the worst days of my life, my mum was in her last weeks in hospital, losing her fight against cancer. I had to be with her everytime i wasn’t at work. It was a warm beautiful spring she would have loved so much to enjoy outside. And almost every time i was driving there in the sun, the radio played this song. Then and still today when i hear it, a river comes out of my eyes, but for a strange reason i really wonder, i feel strength and belief coming to me. Like she´s telling me « don’t worry, you’ll get through, i’m with you, i’ll always be, it’s alright » through her unconciousness, through the clouds, through the echoes, straight to me

2:50. Paulo: "though the echos" / Justin (head in hands): "fucking 'ell". As a guitarist I've often felt that way. Someone is so good you just love them but also so good in your area of expertise that you fucking 'ate 'em.
I love this channel so much, it is without question the place I religiously come to every day.
Also ... don't quit your day job. I love The Darkness. I NEED The Darkness, Are you working on a new album (CD? ... release? ) ?
I think this channel has gone so "viral" (pukes in own mouth) that a lot of people who watch it don't even know about The Darkness.
How about a last day of the month explanation of a The Darkness song for us to ... dare I say it ... "expose" yourself to your new fans here. Clearly, I Believe In A Thing Called Love should be the first, but my vote is for Solid Gold. Don't be shy, don't be modest. Why do you refuse to do a video on The Darkness? Without The Darkness, Rock and Roll Deserves To Die!

Love the videos you put out especially when highlighting fantastic artists. Great professional insight into the music and love seeing the genuine appreciation you have for other supremely talented people. Sometimes when you hear an amazing voice ‘fuck’ is the only suitable response! 😂
Keep up the good work 👍🏻

Lovely, had no idea, reminds me a little bit of Steve Perry on the higher notes, will check out more! Awesome how you are humble enough to always unabashedly really show your appreciation for others artists. Not sure if a lot of other rock stars would do the same. 🎸

I grew up listening to Paolo, think most Scottish kids probably did, and I didn’t think he could get any better but his new album is absolutely stunning and the live versions are incredible.

    Hi Justin,
Just wanted to say well done.
A brief synapses of my relationship with your good self.
I loved the Permission To Land album back in the day and thoroughly enjoyed listening to something different which was clearly inspired by the same music I loved growing up.
You guys kinda lost me a little later in your career, but I’m so glad you have come on to this platform and exhibit a good knowledge of music both as a musician and as a listener.
You have shown me that writing you off when you were clearly having issues was my mistake.
I am so glad to see you are looking and clearly feeling well!
I wish more acts these days had a tenth of your musical understanding and weren’t afraid to express an opinion.
Great fashion and sunnies as ever.
A new subscriber but long term listener.
All the best mate-keep up the good work and honesty.
I’ll keep coming back, best wishes. 👍🏼

I'm kind of pissed that I've never heard this before. I listen to artists like Glen Hansard or Noah Gunderson frequently. Why did UA-cam not show me this years ago. Thank you so much Justin Hawkins.

Well now you've received a great gift indeed :) His voice gives a sort of relief and soothing, revitalizing addiction. In a way, he's as good as a "massage for the spirit" 😉
Just a tip, search for the many and many live tunes of Paolo here on UA-cam, he's one of those very few which are way better live than in studio, so intense, raw and vocally impressive. Also his many covers are fantastic.

I'm sure since you've discovered the marvel that is Paolo Nutini you've already come across 'Iron Sky' - but if you haven't, put some headphones on, close your eyes, and enjoy. Simply a masterpiece in song writing.
