Great critique, Justin. It's refreshing to hear someone who knows that he's talking about tip his hat to Paolo. The Nutini fella is finally getting the recognition he deserves..😊
I’m late to the party here, but I fell in love with Paolo in 2006. I thought he was done after Caustic Love and nearly cried when I saw he was doing shows again. I knew music was coming. And I was floored. His music has grown into something beautiful and magical. I can’t wait for him to come back to North America so I can see him live again. ❤️
I’ve liked almost everything Paolo has put out but to put this new record out, as his 4th record, and for it to be as good as it is, shows me this guy is beyond the real deal and to be honest, one the best British singer songwriters of the past 20 years. The album is sublimely timeless.

Wholeheartedly agree! A tragically underrated singer and songwriter in terms of mainstream industry but he`s one of these special ones that true fans love to hold as their own like a precious flower. He does it his way, very little press and almost non existent social media presence, like he has been transported from the 50`s/60`s. Loves his ganja too which possibly explains his vocal tonality. Great to see a great singer laud another. Cheers from down under, looking forward to your Brisbane show in October (the city that missed out on the "Easter Is Cancelled" tour due to lock down), we are counting down the days!!
Paulo played Byron Bay Bluesfest and he sang Echoes completely blew the tent away. For. Other sets there was a lot of background chatter but he silences everyone. Amazing
I had never heard of nutini, till 2022. Was the worst days of my life, my mum was in her last weeks in hospital, losing her fight against cancer. I had to be with her everytime i wasn’t at work. It was a warm beautiful spring she would have loved so much to enjoy outside. And almost every time i was driving there in the sun, the radio played this song. Then and still today when i hear it, a river comes out of my eyes, but for a strange reason i really wonder, i feel strength and belief coming to me. Like she´s telling me « don’t worry, you’ll get through, i’m with you, i’ll always be, it’s alright » through her unconciousness, through the clouds, through the echoes, straight to me
I’m a singer and often wish I could hit higher notes or sing like other singers. It’s interesting to find that successful singers (such as yourself) sometimes feel the same way. I guess we are what we are. I’ve been a fan of Paolo Nutini since his first album. He always seems to bring something different to each album. I’m a big fan of The Darkness too by the way. Absolutely love your channel! Keep up the good work.
He's got a Mark Hollis from Talk Talk kinda voice. Hollis' solo stuff makes you cry too. Just beautiful. I've never heard of Paolo Nutini, but I'm going to check him out. I'm not crying, you're crying!

I'm kind of pissed that I've never heard this before. I listen to artists like Glen Hansard or Noah Gunderson frequently. Why did UA-cam not show me this years ago. Thank you so much Justin Hawkins.
Well now you've received a great gift indeed :) His voice gives a sort of relief and soothing, revitalizing addiction. In a way, he's as good as a "massage for the spirit" 😉 Just a tip, search for the many and many live tunes of Paolo here on UA-cam, he's one of those very few which are way better live than in studio, so intense, raw and vocally impressive. Also his many covers are fantastic.
I'm sure since you've discovered the marvel that is Paolo Nutini you've already come across 'Iron Sky' - but if you haven't, put some headphones on, close your eyes, and enjoy. Simply a masterpiece in song writing.

A brief synapses of my relationship with your good self.
I loved the Permission To Land album back in the day and thoroughly enjoyed listening to something different which was clearly inspired by the same music I loved growing up.
You guys kinda lost me a little later in your career, but I’m so glad you have come on to this platform and exhibit a good knowledge of music both as a musician and as a listener.
You have shown me that writing you off when you were clearly having issues was my mistake.
I am so glad to see you are looking and clearly feeling well!
I wish more acts these days had a tenth of your musical understanding and weren’t afraid to express an opinion.
Great fashion and sunnies as ever.
A new subscriber but long term listener.
All the best mate-keep up the good work and honesty.
I’ll keep coming back, best wishes. 👍🏼
Great to have him back…thought it may never happen!
Ok this is my fav new channel your so fucking fun and always on point with the review.
Paulo Nuttini is class
I'm kind of pissed that I've never heard this before. I listen to artists like Glen Hansard or Noah Gunderson frequently. Why did UA-cam not show me this years ago. Thank you so much Justin Hawkins.
Well now you've received a great gift indeed :) His voice gives a sort of relief and soothing, revitalizing addiction. In a way, he's as good as a "massage for the spirit" 😉
Just a tip, search for the many and many live tunes of Paolo here on UA-cam, he's one of those very few which are way better live than in studio, so intense, raw and vocally impressive. Also his many covers are fantastic.
I'm sure since you've discovered the marvel that is Paolo Nutini you've already come across 'Iron Sky' - but if you haven't, put some headphones on, close your eyes, and enjoy. Simply a masterpiece in song writing.
My reaction to the first line of the chorus was exactly like Justin's 😂 Fuuuuu#%in Hellll. What a vocal ✌🏻
Would you ever do music theory videos/lessons Justin? Your knowledge is unrivalled, in my eyes.
Him and Rick Beato would be quite the double act haha
Brilliant singer/songwriter, glad to hear he's back
Typo in the title, absolutely underrated artist, paolo has you eating out of the palm of his hands when you watch him live .
I simply love this kid. I always have and always will
Aaaaaw Jenny Don't Be Hasty!
Love this wee guy x
I love Pat's work, great writer. 👍
Just subscribed to your channel. Impressed with your knowledge & experience of the genre. BTW, you are also a quite unique singer from old school 👍
