Seeing someone just enjoy the challenge without it needing to be a SUPER HARDCORE NUZLOCKE NO OVERLEVELING NO ITEMS is honestly really refreshing!
Nuzlockes are normal now the normal play through is rarer
Hardcore nuzlockes are the new trend with the rise of new hard as f romhacks and many poketubers doing them
Emerald Kaizo is NO ITEMS either way :)
No overleveling/No items are inherently part of hardcore nuzlockes, that's just redundant

I've never played Emerald Kaizo, but honestly I don't think I ever will from what I've seen on youtube. It seems like an artificial difficulty, unlike a game like Reborn where it it's *hard* but never feels *unfair*. There is no need for stuff like changing Yawn into a 1-turn move, Pokémon having changed stats, or just straight up bullshit legendaries in gym leader fights. Reborn actually has proper team building and AI within the game as it is and never limits what you can or can not do.

Emerald Kaizo actually follows the traditional Pokemon AI. It'll always pick moves based on their moveset and typing weak against yours. Jan from Pokemon Challenges explains how this game can be Nuzlocked.
@@rosaria8384 I know, I've watched pchal's videos on Emerald Kaizo. It uses Emerald AI and IIRC changes a bunch of things like Yawn and stats, which I don't like. Reborn has everything as in the official games (stats, moves, learnsets, etc) but they made it hard by clever teambuilding and programming a good AI, with the exception of an actually unfair segment at the end (i.e. by boosting opponent's EVs past the 510 cap).
@@yvltcthankfully someone created a 2.0 of Emerald Kaizo called Run and Bun. It features Gen 8 movesets, mons, and items, as well as the core Emerald experience. Should be a good change of pace even though it's also hardcore

To make the game slightly harder, make the Tate & Liza fight a 12 v 6 and make Wallace & Juan a 12 v 6 double battle as well with Perma Rain of course...(where they'd have access to moves like Thunder and Hurricane)
Blissey in this game has buffed defenses so that is how it was able to live.

I just got a few questions, why did the exp bar for the Pokémon when facing maxi all look fresh, and they all were the same level? It was a reoccurring thing too like do rare candies just drop or given to you in kiazo? I never played before serious question! 0.0
