  • Apple used circles in its design, but the case of the be quiet! mod we're working on features triangular patterns throughout, so we figured why not cut a cheese grater panel that'll boost airflow and visibility of the components?

Can provide the exact size and location of the Be quiet base 500 or pure 500dx 4 drill holes for CAD? I would like to design and customize its side panels myself. Thank you.

Beautiful job! If I may ask, what are you using as coolant for your mister? Also with such a beautiful finish do you have any recommendations for the finish pass, or are you using the tool manufacturer's guidelines? Again, very nice work. :)))

One tip for 'trying to get the contour right'... you could just model the pocket as it should be and then use the upper contour + a selected cutting depth.
nice machining and great looking parts tho.

ShasOAunLa Aye although realistically it’s the same number of steps. It’s marginally easier to select the pockets vs contours, not much in it though. That’s the route I would have taken if somebody else had sent the 3D file for sure

Was curious if you’ve tried out fire polishing? Not that you don’t already very typically get an awesome machined finish, but I’ve seen it used a few times on plastic parts on the Wintergatan Marble Machine X parts, and was thinking it might be good for some of what you’re doing.

Aah I did give it a go but the issue is it rounds the corners and facets, especially on smaller details like embossed sections or chamfers. You can usually tell if something has been flame polished at a glance. Where possible I try to do it on the machine as much as I can as really that's how you get the best results in the long run.

bit-tech Makes sense. Thanks for clarifying! I suppose a lot of what you’re making is meant to be looked at much more closely and intentionally refract RGB, especially compared to the MMX :)

I blame you for my new interest in unique case scratch builds... problem is UA-cam cannot satisfy my needs with any other channel but yours for this. Amazing work!

very good result, congrats, I think the case would benefit the most from a front panel with a pattern in the likings of this panel, well done !

I get some and try to use it on my Lian Li Dynamic O11.
    I hope it looks good.

The Hex would be interesting with that inwin 303.Not the best case but it would be interesting to see a mod on it.
The triangle pattern is interesting but maybe try one side small and one side 1.5X the size (or slightly bigger so the horizontal line matchup). I think that would be a more interesting pattern.
Maybe use a scrap piece of something before running it the code just in case the paths aren't right.
    Keep up the great work.

Cheers! I did actually try out a few patterns but the nature of triangles sort of got in the way each time. With different scaling or offsets it just resulted in a bit of an awkward mess, some parts would look great but others would be just ugly joints and look out of place.

It bothers me that the triangles aren't perfectly tessellated, and that the lattice has that odd shape where the lines intersect. I also think you should have offset the tessellation in both axes, with only the one offset it just looks like a repetition of the over- and underlined stylization of the Roman numeral X with hourglasses at the end.
It's not a bad looking part, I just think a proper tessellation with both axes of offset would have much more potential of being aesthetically pleasing.
I'd also like to see this piece lit up, from behind and from the edge.
