  • This isn't an ordinary build, so why use an ordinary IO system? Befitting the other parts of the rig, let's craft a dedicated rear panel that will only fit the Aqua and the 2080ti FE!

Crazy system and crazy amount of work...

The more I think of it, the better it sounds, but... it's a lot of work...

Amazing that people who just plug stuff in and piss about with cables and RGB strips have more subscribers than this channel where you actually design and make such fantastic original components. Biggest compliment I can give is you make me want a CNC machine.

Josh Hodder Whilst you’re right, it would be a pretty cool thought experiment to see what it would take to have a chassis like this become more batch production friendly. Obviously doing all the exact holes might be an issue, but there’s scope for perhaps just making that one plate to match certain configurations etc.
Again won’t happen I reckon but it’s fun to think about it, sometimes it spawns novel solutions to other issues in the process.

Yup if you’re a proper machine shop going through loads of aluminium you can usually sell it back to the supplier for a discount. In my case the chips are a lost cause as they get two muddled in with other materials, however I do recycle all the offcuts.

Why do you cut the piece out from the center of the aluminum plate rather than from closer to a corner/edge? Seems like a waste of metal. Obviously you can cut smaller pieces out of the scrap, but it seems to me you could have milled two large parts (ie - ths floor snd backplate) from one piece rather than needing two sheets of plate for those two large pieces.

Just found this channel on the video before this one.
Great work !! Really like the direction of the project.
Wish I had time to make something like that.
One tip: Use "conventional" milling when doing chamfers or any other finishing cuts for a better finish. (Especially when you start cutting acrylic)
Second tip: Correct the run-out of your end mills with a tenths indicator.
Won't help with the single flutes but anything higher and it helps in many ways, reduced chatter, smoother finish and higher accuracy of parts, especially when using cutter compensation.
If you need instructions on how to do that. let me know. (Yes, I own a machine shop)
    Keep up the good work!!
Can't wait for the next video.

Do you mind sharing how you worked out the dimensions / locations for the cable ports? Is it published somewhere? Did you measure it by hand? Looked perfect.

It would be interesting to see a motherboard manufacturer make a giant motherboard that is designed specifically to display as a work of art. The memory would be spaced wider apart or have some kind of giant memory card that is decorative. And have more PCI slots or more things on a larger I/O panel. Maybe have physically larger NVMe drives that can be decorated.

Insanely clever and encompassed by brilliance. Alex, you are a true marvel with your machinery and ability. Thank you, I can't wait for the next installment.

Incredible how detailed your work here is, I'm impressed. Something you might want to consider to fit the silver color of the whole build is electroplating the brass connectors for your distro-plates with nickel, it's a fairly simple process.
