My husband eats the bento at room temperature. That is natural things for us. but I know many people (also Japanese) wanna heat it. so I recommend you to use the lunch box that is fine for microwave, if you wanna heat it ;)

I mean, I get why. It's pretty, I'm sure it's very tasty, and he knows how much love and time and effort she puts into the bento, so it just makes it perfect :)
I think she may have meant that he isn't super careful and delicate with it, so the liquid spilled out because it got tilted lol
I always love how gentle she is with herself when she makes cooking mistakes. It makes me want to be more gentle with myself too. Imamu is a good role model for that.

Sadly there is a lot more dysfunctional families than functional ones.
We just need to ride a Japanese train everyday to work. They serve things like this on a prepackaged bento tray. Look up Paolo in Tokyo. He did a video about it. Very interesting.

I was a butcher/fishmonger in the US for about 3/4 of a year. Every day I had to skin and prepare salmon for various dishes and purposes. Never in a million years could I handle a piece of salmon with the speed or efficiency of this woman.

I've never liked mushrooms to have cooked with them so the sound of cutting mushrooms is so strange to me! Trying to figure out how to make cream croquettes for a wife who doesn't like crab, corn, scallops... She's a little picky but she's still sweet.
My favorites this week were the zucchini sandwiches and the yuzu print furoshiki! So summery!
You could look into (possibly modifying) the dutch "kroket" recipe! Basically it's the same thing, making a ragout for the inside and then coating it in breadcrumb, except the ragout is made with leftover sunday roast/stock beef :) chicken can also be used!
Try making the Spanish Tapas Ham croquettes as they are wonderful and a good alternative.
the beauty of croquettes is that you can make them with just about anything :)

You mentioned that the water leaks out of the bento sometimes, have you thought about getting a different bento box? I have one that has a silicone seal for wetter things, and it has 3 tiers so I can separate different items from each other

I have a great recipe for a batter to coat the fish in :)
Beat an eggwhite, pour in some beer, the eggyolk, flour salt and pepper and mix
You don't need and breadcrumbs
It's a reallf fluffy and crispy coat when fried. Works best for fresh fish, tastes good with soy sauce on the side
