The back up camera stays on for a few seconds after shifting out of reverse, now that's a thoughtful touch. I like that about Ford, very good innovative ideas. Next generation Ford cars, let's have back up camera on demand with video recording capability for up to 20 mins! Let's make America great again! Ford, let's forge ahead!
Yesterday, 01/03/23, I test drove a 2016 Explorer XLT. It has just over 100k miles. Someone told me that the Ford 3.5 motors are notorious for bad water pumps. If I move forward with the purchase, how many more miles could I drive before I could expect to have to replace the water pump?
Dave, we would like to see these vehicles off road. You don't have to sink them in mud or do anything crazy with them to risk damage. The ORV park you have gone to in the past would still be fine seeing how this thing would do in light offroading situations like loose dirt and/or sand, maybe some mild articulation. TFL Car/truck does a fair bit of offroading in their press vehicles without damaging them.
I like! Ford Explorer or the Escape will be my next SUV upgrade. I like the Sante Fe (2015) I own, but always liked the styling and trim options of the Explorer.
Great review Dave. I like the Explorer but I agree with you. This is now a CUV more than an SUV. Also, 54k is kind of steep for a Ford when more premium choices are available.
Can you do me a small favor?! The next time you're shopping for a vehicle, can you click on the LINK below for a “FREE VEHICLE QUOTE BY ZIP CODE”? spend 33k on an explorer xlt ...or 45k on an explorer sport. Or 32-38k on a flex or 29 - 40k on an edge if you don't need the 3rd row.Or get a durango.
Hi David, I always watching your videos, they’re very interesting to watch. And I thank you very much of what you do. Good luck too. I am confused. First on the MPG 19.1that was absolutely amazing. However, at the end of the video while you start to switch the off road option the MPG went 19.1 to 13.4. Please explain why.
Hi Dave, Can you please do a review of 2018 Explorer SPORT ? An off-road review please. There’s already several videos that cover features and interiors.
Keep up the good work. I like your approach on the vehicles and your honesty with your one take videos. I'm just mad that a vehicle that expensive still have strut to hold the hood up smh.
It's a shame that Ford hasn't gotten their press/review cars up to 2017's - Sync 3 is so much better - we're actually looking at paying a bit more (due to financing rates) for a 2017 over a 2016. Great car though anyhow!
You forgot the 6th trim level, COP CAR.

i was hoping to see how it the Explorer would do in the ATV park with all the different AWD modes....
just picked up one 2017 love it so far.i got the hundred thousand mile bumper-to-bumper warranty for a piece of me as well
Any problems so far?
The 2nd row seat height feels fine. The worse offender I encountered is the Toyota Highlander, especially with its optional 6 passenger configuration.
Careful swinging that hand around lol. Those inflatable seatbelts are a nice feature.

Inflatable rear seatbelts are not new for 2016. They had em on the 2015 at least. Research please.

"unfortunately I'm done growing" LOL
The two cameras weren't on SYNC, when you were driving. Didn't know what to look at..

Hey Love your reviews, I heard we are not getting the sync 3 system on the 2016 ford explorer can you investigate further?
Should I spend the 53k on this or get a 45k CX9?

Ford Engineers refer to that infotainment system as a "polished turd".
Pretty sure it’ll sale more if they dropped it another 10k
