This vertical cave is located in an area where there is a lot of homeless camps. Which is one reason it gets filled with trash and dead bodies. A few years ago they found a dead body in one of the caves.
Given the nature of this cave being vertical and narrow and full of garbage I consider this one of the more dangerous things we have done. I don't recommend it even to my caving friends. This is one case where we continued on because we thought it would at least make an interesting video.
I appreciate all you do for the content, esp when it's more difficult to produce these days with your health
Have you thought of bringing a sharps container so you can isolate and get those needles out of there safely & effectively? Only $10 on average.
@@ReptilesPwnRodents it's pointless (no pun intended) even if you installed a Sharps Container the addicts would still toss the needles down. when I was homeless, the shelter I was in put a lock on the Sharps Container in the bathroom because the addicts would try and steal the syringes inside not to mention half of them would rather flush a syringe down the toilet regardless if there is a Sharps container a couple feet away
After watching your videos for a while, I've become comfortable with the claustrophobia from your squeezes- but this video restored my fear! The trash, the water 😨😨... this one was nuts! I'm glad you guys still made it a good adventure!
Your restoration of fear blesses us.
that detail you did showing us what actually was the DVD CD was super cool and considerste for the curious ones like me
We were curious too! We also tried to look at the phone but it was too damaged.
Thank you for including that DVD segment 😂😂 definitely worth a like
It was a video on gerrymandering.
But I don't think we need a DVD for most of us to understand political corruption.
I've watched every single one of your uploads, sometimes I'm in disbelief how you guys are brave enough to do this, always enjoyable to watch. keep up the great work
Thank you so much. This cave was terrible, but weirly fun.
Whats even more cool is to see the boy grow and become a young man willing to do what others wont.
i love the fact that he actually checked what was on the DVD :D
The 'skssksks' at the hydroflask really got me lol
Another great video Calvin! The cave was really beautiful, such a shame it was full of trash. Such is the city though. Looking forward to the next great adventure! Thank you for doing what you do!
your videos are what inspired me to start caving, i have been caving for several months now and living life to the fullest! thank you for the inspiration and the advice!
That's great. Caving or not we prefer to inspire rather than entertain. But it's a pretty fun thing to do. As you now know.
You guys are kings at embracing the suck. The mental toughness is amazing to see!
Im really glad i found this channel again i discovered the channel back when you had only about a thousand subscribers probably less i really enjoy watching this content glad i found it again
Ha, that's great! Yeah we have suffered some growth. I honestly thought it would be pretty cool if we could get a 1,000 subscribers to watch our weird little adventures.
I'll always make videos but I will never be a "UA-camr." We're just out here havin a good time.
Sad to see all that trash being piled up in the caves, otherwise great video! keep up the great work!
This cave has a precarious location right in the middle of a homeless camp. So over the course of the last 100 years or so trash really piles up in the bottom. This is the grossest cave I've ever seen.
They found a dead body in it a while ago.
@@CalvinHikes jesus
Thats why so many are gated off.
So Cave diving is basically wrestling out of submissions with the earth.
I started caving mid last year, joined up with my local grotto and enjoying it to the fullest. Your videos were a huge inspiration to get started, and after getting a little experience I can honestly say you make recording look so much easier than it really is. Kudos for that, and thanks for another great video in a not so fun cave lol
That's great that you joined a grotto. It's difficult to do much caving without an organized group.
One of the great pleasures in all of this has been bringing light to some of the people I cave with. They are some truly excellent people who just go about their business and I like shoving my camera in their face and getting them some recognition for whatever that's worth.
Some of them have even gotten interviews with large circulation news outlets.
And Jacob has a bunch of money for school.
It's been a riot! Even though it's almost killed us several times!
I started archery smithing boxing mechanics machining
@@CalvinHikes Absolutely, it was almost impossible to cave around here without being in a grotto. SCCi manages the majority near me, so joining up just made sense. Glad you do what you do, bringing light to others is noble of you. Some of the coolest people iv met were underground and they certainly deserve some sort of recognition!
I still just don't know how you do it man. The amount of focus that goes into caving alone makes it so hard to focus on filming. I guess after actually doing it iv got a whole new level of respect for you and your videos. If you ever find yourself exploring in the southern states id love to tag along!
Bravo 4 u 👏 I think larger caves are ultra cool and as for smaller more advanced caves, I'd like to, but being born and built upper body wise like a solid NFL lineman lets me know it's just not 4 me.
@@TheNinja4liferyan There are thousands of caves in the TAG area. Unfortunately, some of the easier accessed ones were trashed so bad that they had to be closed off. Which state are you in?
One of the best channels on UA-cam. Keep up the good work
Thank you

Wow Andrew had grown with every sun you get, I didn’t even recognize him at first

normally wtaching your videos i dont feel fear as if i was in that cave and almost stuck. But this video had my heart racing at moments.
I can't believe people are so damn disgusting tossing needles and trash, no wonder our world is polluted...I hate seeing our world being trashed by people that don't care about it or others. Be safe 🙏
awesome man, we found a new cave in georga last week, had to dig the opening out, it was worth the hours of digging, it dropped a good 120 ft down and opened up to some good size mini domes and passages, ill post a vid in the next week of it.
That's amazing. Georgia is the mecca of caving. People travel from all over the world just so they can go to Georgia for caves. Thousands and thousands of brilliant limestone caves.
And now, one more! That'll be interesting let us know how that goes. And when you post your video.
@@CalvinHikes any chance you guys can visit Georgia?
Thats the 1st ive heard you say "you can't go further than that" Awesome video. Beyond Awesome. You were above and beyond completely! Bravo 👏
Andrew wanted to go further. There are occasions when he is even bolder than I. But that's why I like to cave with him. He wants to take a series of pipes down there and try to drain the bottom of the cave. He believes it continues underwater but I don't.
@Caveman Hikes In my opinion, all people who go deep into caves like that must be either mostly fearless, if not all, and/or able to practice mind control on awesome levels. For me, the fear I would have teeters on getting stuck or being too far in during a..... I won't say in good faith, but it's a possibility, and 1 I can't look past as much as the 1st.

that trash is rather disturbing lol. im surprised there arent bodies

I really love watching these videos when in comfort of my own bed 😂
Same, it actually helps me calm down after a stressful day lol
In my heart, our videos are about calmness and peace while the caving is incidental.
@@rethgual8227 same!
Awesome and scary video.
That would be scary the amount of work you do on these videos 😃
I agree. The scariest part of caving is the amount of work it takes to put the video together. By far.
I agree to😃 the amount of work you do is insane it looks really scary
Being from the PNW, I always like trying to figure out where you're at. I know exactly where that is. I never thought about a cave being up there.
The dvd was absolutely incredible lololol please make more vids I’m all caught up!
There's a second channel. And there are several videos exclusive to the patron account.
I am absolutely fascinated by your videos.. over just short 3 months since I started to watch your guys content.
I went from absolutely terrified, sweating, butt clenching, my mind terrified by the closed confinement you subject your self too. Too more confident less afraid person...
Just amazing skills and drive that you guys possess..
My question tough... The videos are very dependent on light source and by watching your videos, It seems that you explore more my feel.
How is it, if you have ever experienced. Been deep into a cave and lost your light source?
If so... is it more fear inducing or calming? Or depends on the situation..
Huge fan of the channel, big love to everyone
Losing light is something that never ever happens under any circumstances. We just carry too much. We have fire mechanical lights chemical lights and I've never had a battery operated LED fail. So it's a complete and utter non issue. It's difficult to see sometimes when light is in our faces but that's a little bit of a different issue. Still, it's blinding. But I also don't know any caver who is concerned about darkness.
most of the things that people think of that might be a problem are never a problem. We do have problems but they are things that just wouldn't come to mind unless you are down here.
Problems in most caves is the temperature is too cold. Problems in this cave stem from using vertical gear in narrow passages is necessary for safety but also a problem as your gear can get hung up on the rocks. And of course anytime you get in water the problem is more about temperature again than it is about drowning. The biggest problem with modern flashlight is they get too hot and will burn your hands. If they accidentally turn on they can melt your bag. They can catch gear on fire and then the smoke inhalation in a small space is a problem. We got a lot of batteries and that gear can have meltdown sometimes.
@@CalvinHikes Thanks for the reply :).
Just curious, it isnt something that hasn't been addressed in the videos before or comment section, that i was aware of. You have said in previous videos that you would turn off the lights to get a better feel when going through a tough passage. But I am super glad that lack of light source is never an issue for you guys and that you have backups upon backups in that regards.
I love how you guys adress most issues straight up in the videos and are so incredibly fast in replying with all sorts of questions that people have regarding
the importance of safety
This was a good one to watch in my dry and warm bed
Kinda sad to see all the trash in there. Something so beautiful just turned into a wasteland.
I absolutely enjoy these videos. Thank you for sharing this experience with us. Sad to see all that trash in such a beautiful cave. Glad you and Andrew made it out without diabetes. Lol
*I made it out without diabetes.
Yes.
So sad to see all that trash down there man
I STARTEted having a panic attack when you guys was crawling through that water...oh my god no way my knees could handle that lol
You should do the intro "do not enter a cave ... " and leave it at that haha
I laughed so hard I choked at the DVD clip getting played
I’ve been to undara lava tubes and chillalgoe caves with a guide and they were both really cool
Nice.
Jeez I just noticed I've been watching your vids from 2 years ago. Jacobs has grown lmao
Yeah but Jacob grew really fast. He went from like 4 ft tall to 6 ft tall in about 20 minutes. And he continues to grow. We don't know what is upper bound limits are his dad is pretty tall and his mom's side of the family has tall men.
Political DVD's and drug needles! What a beauty of a cave. Some great treasures to be found!!!!
This city is basically identifiable by its needles and political dvds.
Watching your videos from a year now, i guess I'm not claustrophobic anymore.
Nothing better than watching this in your warm, comfortable bed.
Nothing better then doing this covered in scars laying in a pool of your own warm blood
those trash looks like a washed away into there during heavy rain...
Bro you the best
Thanks much!
Ahh the ending! You're on rocky butte my city :D
They even found a dead body in this cave entrance a few years ago. It's a wonderful place.
*see needles*
Okay guys, I'm leaving. Have fun.
*Climbs out, get in car, drive home, take a nap*
People are so disgusting and terrible. Anybody who would throw trash down there like that need to be forced to go down there and clean it up and take a severe beating to remind them not to do it again.
But no way in hell would I ever want to see a cave bad enough to wade thru all that trash and friggin needles and piss water.
There's a pretty large homeless community that huddles up in this park on top of these caves. Since it's just a dark hole, they toss their garbage down and have been doing so for 100 years.
they even recently found a body in the entrance that someone threw in.
It's in a bit of a rough area of the city.
“Here comes Andrew”
I just started binge watching all of your videos.... and they're all so addicting to watch 🤍🤍🤍 I have mad respect for you, your nephew and friends
Thank you so much! We're just out here havin' a good time.
I thought this was going to be a reenactment of the pipe crawl from Shawshank Redemption.
Felt like it. We really should have done a little shawshank action coming out of the water area.
@@CalvinHikes Ha, you can always go back.
I think I would have noped out at the threat of a blood borne illness. Glad you at least scored that amazing DVD.
I live my life for political DVD's on Ge,rrymandaring.
Should do all these videos with a 360° camera so the viewers can have the ability to look around. May give a entire new perspective
Are there sometimes other animals living inside of deep caves other than bats? Like rats or something? Specially with water inside of a cave, aren’t you concerned about catching leptospiroses? I’m just curious!
Other than that, I love watching your videos!
Bats... plenty of rats in the lowland caves. Amphibians in these wet caves. Sometimes a skunk will wonder in. But caves are generally too harsh an environment for most animals and they would just die.
I can’t even watch these videos at normal speed, idk how you submit yourself to this
Submit is correct.
It is bodily and emotional submission that brings peace of mind. Let go fear and tension... ; )
That was the cave I am least likely to follow you into!
As far as this region is concerned we've marked this as a dangerous cave. It's not only gross, it's not very fun. Somehow we had a good time not having a good time.
the caves with those narrow fissures actually scare me
Even without the trash and drug paraphernalia, this was pretty dangerous. It's difficult to use gear in such narrow cracks. Difficult to ensure safety. And difficult to get in-and-out of.
But I don't think anyone else has ever been in there or will ever go in there again. We do a lot of ridiculous things but we have a good time.
That was grim!
How cold was the water?
How can you make such good videos from tight caves!
Making the videos is more difficult than the caving. Such a nuisance! But fun.
I’d be panicked.
I guess that’s why I don’t do this stuff
5:02 just remembered john Jones photo from nutty putty cave
What happened at the end of the cave where you had to turn around, was the cave getting to small to go through? Was it still going though? I wonder how much more of the cave there is?....but of course I know why you couldn't go any further lol
I thought it didn't go any further but Andrew thinks it continues on under the water. It's not known as the cave does not have a map beyond my sketch. For awhile we were devising possible pump system.
In any case on that day that as far as we could get with any reasonable amount of safety. I was willing to hold my breath but it's such gross water. It also may be seasonal where it might drain on its own in the middle of summer.
@@CalvinHikes i see....It's interesting to think what else might be down there if it does go further, but yeah that water is so nasty!!
They should have those ninja spikes strapped to their shoes to help climb up.
Awful on solid rock face.
Great video guys. Would love to go out and find caves as you do. Cringed at the sight of those needles and enjoyed your jokes
You can find caves!
@Caveman Hikes I know of caves. Been in my favorite many times, and my family has one private. But never discovered any myself
I live in Washington fairly close to Mount Rainier I'm assuming there's probably a lot of caves around there
You probably live as close to any caves as we do. I usually travel 2 hours for caving expeditions. Although this cave video you commented on is 20 minutes from my house.
a one man’s trash becomes a one man’s treasure arrrr. this cave would be a reference to kitchen nightmares

Watch out for contagious diabetes from those syringes
Yes
Can you give us an update on this video? did you get sick? i am thinking yes
I do tank wheelies and high speed chases on the freeway. But this is too dangerous, even by my standards.
good evening
Syringes and needles...sounds like walking down the street in San Francisco.
These are the streets of Portland Oregon. I don't really know which city is "worse"... But I have visited San Francisco recently and found it to be a bit cleaner than here.
Did you guys recover easily from this one? Im sure if i was playing in that kind of water I'd have end up sick like a dog
We're already dead inside so it doesn't matter.
I was going to say at least the needle is capped but then you showed us the 83 needles that weren’t 😱😱😱
Most of them were capped. We found a collection of uncapped ones in a pile but at least it was out of the way. I'm actually surprised most of them were capped. I'm proud of the drug addicted homeless community.
You guys make great VSCO girls sksksksk 😂
Thank you. That trend lasted like 5 minutes.
Food? Water? I don’t see any… how?
This cave was full of both food and water.
Do those caverns ever fill entirely with water?
Probably a dumb question but do you have to watch the weather?
Also, you said you reached the end. How has all the trash not pooled at the end?
It's better to ask the question because most people make assumptions and they are always wrong.
Some caves will fill with water or block the entrance and others won't. So you need to know the cave and then you need to know the weather. but in our area very few caves can flash flood. The water in discave is probably partially seasonal. It may never completely dissipate but it will likely lower in the summer.
Well that's what's disgusting a lot of the trash HAS pooled at the end. That's what the water is full of. Andrew thinks the cave may continue and is interested in checking it out in the summer and possibly pumping the water out. He's devising some bizarre plan so we'll see what happens.
@@CalvinHikes lol appreciate you taking the time to answer!
Your videos are incredibly interesting & borderline scary 😂. Keep up the great work brother and stay safe!!
What would happen if you injure yourself in a cave like this, would anyone else be able to help you get out? Or wouldn't be there any way to do it if you can't move on you own? Greate to watch you adventures, stay safe :)
Well that's part of what makes this dangerous and the necessity of being in good shape. If I got hurt I'd have to find a way out. Within the caving Community we have to rescue each other.
is this in the pugeout sound Tacoma/seattle areas?
Not specifically, but on a world scale, roughly. We are generally somewhere in the Pacific Northwest.
Rather them than me.
I'm sure they feel that way as well 😄
Andrew and I were having such a good time. Even if it was a terrible cave. It's one of the few caves we've marked as dangerous and shouldn't be entered. But it was so hilariously trashed.
@@CalvinHikes What do you mean exactly by too dangerous to enter
Where is this?
Hope it didn't stink 💀
I don't have a sense of smell! I'm also mostly deaf. I'm barely alive!
i see we have the same backpack... i wonder if yours was... modified by a fae... lol
If you find beer by the needles, you know they aren’t diabetic needles. Half of those needles probably had Hep C in them, and even though it’s curable, it’s devastating if undetected.
I hope I'll answer this. After u get at the end of that. Do u go back the same way u came?
Idk how anyone finds this fun. Lol. I'm glad you guys do but just not my thing. Kinda fun to watch tho. I'll stick to flying
The deadpan cut to "It's a political dvd" after excitedly finding sent me rolling. Y'all are gonna make me wanna get into caving. In a good state for it too 🤔
Edit: Also good news, it's practically impossible to contract HIV from used (OLD) needles. Plenty of other illness you can still catch tho, plus infection risk if you get a deep puncture.
Man never mind getting stuck, I also wouldn’t wanna get stuck with a used needle or pile of used needles. Cmon man, no way!.
Free heroin! Come on man!
🤢
It looked like mostly recent trash tho. I wonder if you can date the human impact from the trash? I couldn’t help but wonder if there was older/antique trash there. We can all be horrified, but it isn’t so much different to landfill.
The top is recent trash the bottom is trash up to a 100 years old!
The last person in the cave wrote a description in about 1960 and said the cave was filled with trash. We looked a little for super old garbage but it was a gross and difficult.
What we've learned about caves in the city is if someone throws trash even in the top of the cave it will eventually work its way all the way down to the bottom.
I wonder if anybody will ever clean up the trash instead of just climbing over it?
So do you submit your survey to a local grotto? or is it just not even worth it?
Yeah that's our primary work is to to vet these caves and map them. I'm not the senior cartographer but I survey most of the small or medium size caves for the grotto.
