How you gonna do this whole video and not mention that he did it from the outside lane?!! Never seen anything like it.
Totally! I think what also helped was he knew he had Kirani James next to him so there was no option but to go for the blast and break the the field. Requires huge strength and stamina - I bet all the rest were thinking OK we'll catch him when he tires in the last 100m. But he just kept going - that must have destroyed them mentally - as all nothing left in the tank - physically spent just trying to stay with him. Imagine must have all the coaching manuals ripped up: can only beat him by outdoing him ie 400m flat out. Noone's come close. Sensational.
ah! ah! ah! You're absolutly right! he run in 8 lane!!!! that was really astonishing!
THEY ARE ALL THE SAME THO
@@yourkom9164 it’s just something you wouldn’t understand unless you have run in the outside lane in a 400
@@CovetousIII your right iv never ran anything so I also dont understand. All lanes being equal . Why is it harder on the outside ?
If you haven't run the 400m in a competition, even a minor one, you can't really understand how incredible is this world record.
Right? If anyone can come in off the street and run a sub :60, that's pretty insane let alone sub :43.
Yes for me 400 was the most difficult... I was comfortable with 100,200,800,1500.... But never 400m
Amen.....it is a hard race. Just put hurdles in the way.....that last turn is #%@$.
As a high school junior who ran a 56.6 last week, 43 seconds makes my brain melt lmfao
@@TrainAndAble sub60 is a great time for any young high school student.
I remember Usain Bolt’s jaw drop 😮 reaction to this race while he was waiting in the warm up area for his 100m lol. Wayde is an absolute beast!
I couldn't believe it either... it was so unreal
He gets overlooked for Bolt because he didnt run in one of the glamour events like the 100m which is sad cos his achievement is immense.
He trained with Bolt before that race. Bolt even said Van Niekerk was going to break that record.. And he did.
Oooooooo
@@bFORCe2003 i consider 400m to be the most badass distance. it's basically 4x100m as fast as you frickin can.
As someone with a PB of 52.8, just thinking of going 10 seconds faster is absolutely insane. Literally 80-90 meters ahead of me. So crazy
Respect for your 52.8 though. It took me all I had to clock 58.
@@gianmarco19197878exactly- under a minute is impossible for most of our population 🫡
My PB in HS a long time ago was 52.9 which puts us about 75 meters or 245 feet behind the finish. We could have waved from there.
That first 200 really set him up and his strength carried him through!
No doubt
Bros a literal athletic freak. You can only imagine the suffering he had to to go through in training
How does johnson run so fast while looking like it's a 4 year old running
power
@@iwshamrock4908 I think usain bolt has power. Johnson has efficiency with no wasted movement. Almost like a robot made for running.
Johnson looks like one of these speed walkers who decided to break into a run.
johnson was on roids hudred percent
hahaha
A "very respectable time" seems a tad understated way of describing the second fastest time in history lol
Lol. Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Johnson was something else.
This was the most impressive event at the 2016 Olympics. I remember saying wow, wow, wow through his WR run.....an unforgettable performance.

What is truly hard to believe is that the WR was broken from the OUTSIDE LANE!! One man race!
The fact that he ran in the outside lane along with three world class 400m runners on his inside chasing him is exactly why he ran such a fast time. In fact with his style of running the outside lane gave him an advantage. If Michael Johnson ran his 43.18 record race in the outside lane he would have run 42.9. Michael Johnson is the only 400 meter runner to ever run the 400 in 42.9 on a relay split.
I still recall it... it was unbelievable... never see anything like that before
@@mj3332 he actually said because he was in lane 6 he planned to just go all out from the start. He knew he couldn't really afford to use regular strategies because he was running blind.
@@lincolnward85 He had 3 world class sprinters 2 of witch were olympic champions on his inside, received an outside lane because he ran slower times to advance to the finals,🤔 Even if he didn't say out loud what his strategy was it would not have changed the way he ran. He took advantage of the advantages he had. My only point is he is the 400m record holder but Michael Johnson is the goat in the 400m's
And if you know anything about running the 400 in competition, that lane 8 or 9 put you at a disadvantage. You have no on the outside to focus on to pace yourself. You can't see the runners on the inside lanes. You are literally out there by yourself so you have put everything in pure moment and flow. Wade Van N. Was able to break a World record against these odds. Now that is Absolutely impressive!
Sorry if this seems a bit nitpicky, but you can NOT tell me this mans just said at 1:20 that an opening 100m of 10.70 is "slightly quicker" than MJ's 11.10 100m. That is such an enormous margin within 100m- consider how Wayde Van Niekerk breaking Michael Johnson's WR by .15 was considered extraordinary. Still loved that you covered this iconic race though- it's interesting seeing how WVN and MJ's pacing strategies differed so much.
This bit really pissed me off, calling the biggest split difference of the whole race ‘slightly quicker’
Honestly the difference between their race was Michael Johnson set himself into position because he had a slower field to create a good plan for himself of where to strike. In Wayde’s race, it was much harder mentally for him which created a more positive outcome as well. Running Lane 8 Blindly against a more challenging field that included LaShawn Merritt & Kirani James who had every capability to run people down definitely pushed WVN even more. Basically, HE WAS RUNNING FOR HIS LIFE from START to FINISH
Depends on how you look at it. I ran the 400 back in the day, I was pretty good, and I ran best in the outside lane. I liked being chased more than chasing. Also your turn is less sharp on the outside so it's more forward pressure and a more evenly distributed centrifugal force. So technically speaking, if you leave runner psychology out of the equation, the outside lane is the best lane.
@@smithsmith976 you can’t leave the psychological issue out of a 400 especially in a race, those last 100 will always be brutal so if your head isn’t making you contemplate life or telling you to relax then you’re probably not trying lol. Anyway, if you watch his 43.03 race over & over enough, you can tell WVN’s strategy is pretty much taking off from the blocks like he should then opening up his strides by the 300 mark trying to pull away to him hanging on the rest of the way. His last 120 is hanging on for dear life but he’s also relaxing more and more compared to Kirani James & Merritt who are tying up big time fighting for 2nd with all the kick that they have left while WVN is pulling away from them.
Just remember records where. Made to be broken
Plus Johnson slowed way down to a slow jog the last 10 meters or so. He always did that, as a result he lost his records.
I totally agree with your analysis of the race he ran
Wayde: “So you’re telling me I can run faster than a bullet?!”
Morpheus: “What I’m saying is when you’re ready, you won’t have to!”
Probably the best comment on here!
This race was honestly jaw-dropping, i remember watching it and i counted him out from the heats, worse when he got the #8 lane and the guy just got up and ran; no checking back, no overthinking, he just ran to the finish line. Absolutely amazing.
Beyond Opening and Closing Ceremonies and all medals Brazil conquered, Van Niekerk world record was my favorite 2016 Olympic moment.
I ran a 46.2 second 1/4 mile in high school back in 1976. It was pretty fast, and still a school record(since they went to metric 400 meters). The work I had to put in seemed like at the time, no human could possible work harder than what I did. This guy ran an incredible time. I am in awe!
One of my favourite races! I'm curious to see how well he can recover from his injury. I would love to see him break 43 after everything he's been through 😲!!
Yea if he can make the full comeback it would be one of the greatest sporting comebacks of all time. Best wishes to WVN!
wait...is wayde injured again???
@Gabriel, no he's not injured again 😌. I was referring to his ACL tear in 2017.
Oh...u got me worried there for a sec 😂 I was like "how don't I know about this injury"
But by the looks of things he's still getting his body back together...but definitely by 2021 he'll be a 100%

@@SilencedButNotForgotten yeah he had knee injuries on both knees :( sad
The 400m is the toughest race- flat out sprint. Insane! My deepest respect
Put 10 hurdles in front of them and it becomes much, much harder over that distance.
Back in 2001, high school, I once had my legs give out running the 400m with 50 meters to go and summersaulted in front of the whole grandstands and heard a “Ohhhhhhhh” from crowd and after about 20 seconds i got my jello legs to work and walked to finish line. I snuck behind the grandstands and proceeded to throw up. Throwing up when you’re way out of breathe is absolutely terrible. I basically said “I suck and fuck the 400” after that. What I later realized is I was a fat ass trying to run too fast out the gate. I later lost 10 lbs or so and got lean and was able to run around a 53 second 400meter which was “very fast” compared to my dumbass fat high school self running 1:05 times. Point is , 43 seconds is INSANE haha
He is capable of 42.00 in the inside lane. no doubt.
The inside lane adds more centrifugal force, the less the bend the better
No
The inside lane is much slower than the 8 he ran in.
Lol wtf. Van Niekerk will never run a 42.00. I highly doubt he's ever gonna get close to his 43.03 again

@Fire Winner 6 09 å!?
What a waste of a career after injuring his knee. Who knows what he could have accomplished if he didn't play in that Rugby game?
At the time the media barely even mentioned this race. one of the most incredible WR ever and they barely mention it!
It was the Olympic Final it was a huge deal in the media.
Is it strange i don't believe in a clean sport anymore? I also believe Bolt used it. Sad times, i don't trust the athletes anymore.
well you have to have proof...mere speculation is just that
@@ti84satact12 The fact that i don't trust them is based on what several did in the past. Bolt was way better than the rest that had used doping. And we don't need to be ignorant. But yeah, other than my gut feeling and comon sense i don't have proof. Just hoping he was really clean. I would say 5 to 100 he was clean
@@LeonWalraven The reason that I believe that he's raced clean is his genetics. His tremendous stride length is a HUGE advantage over the field!
@@ti84satact12 That actually costs more strenght and energy. He normally will lose energy earlyer. So not a valid argument. Sprinters are mostly smaller, they can accelarate faster. Also watch ua-cam.com/video/eNCK_PWtOoE/v-deo.html
5 to 100 he never used. My oppinion.
@@LeonWalraven It's not an argument---it's a fact! There are videos on here that clearly show that the reason for Usain Bolt's dominance is the length of his stride. He's not turning over faster than other runners, he's simply out striding everyone else in the field. Smaller runners are generally out of the blocks quicker but that advantage gets negated over longer sprinting distance. My sister sprinted in high school and was ALWAYS among the shortest sprinters in the field. Almost every 100 meter she ran, she would either be leading or near the lead at about 35-45 meter mark, but would always get walked down by taller, bigger girls. If she had run the 50m, she would have been tough to beat! Peace!
If he hadn't been placed in lane 8 that would've helped his pacing too
Edit: People are saying lane 8 is best. That's interesting as I've always had a preference for lane 3
Or by pacing off others he might have not broken the WR.
@@XDF745fair point
Did you know that the person in lane 1 for the 2016 world record race, actually finished with the fastest time ever from lane 1. 42.25. This is the slowest time for any lane in the fastest time per lane category. Lane 8 is the best lane for the fastest times and lane 1 is the worst.
@@rlsuth yeah In Wayne van Niekerk's documentary his manager told him "its better lane 8 than lane 1"
And shout out to Garabo Sebanda🔥 if wayde didn't break the world record than all eyes would have been on him🔥🔥
I saw the real value of Bruce Lee Spiritual essence and I took his legacy and I bowed I will continue his legacy as a guardian of the galaxy per say..
Definitely can see him breaking 43 but I see it more likely being a one in a lifetime type of race. Regardless that is an excellent world record!
It's such a shame that he had that terrible and silly injury playing in that charity rugby match. Why would he do that?? Such a silly risk. I don't know why his coach or someone would have told him to not do it. He has not been the same since. He did his best this year 2023 but has never come close to 2016 or 2017. I wonder if he hadn't let up just that little bit towards the end of the 2016 Olympic race and leaned just a bit more, he could have and I am convinced would have broke 43 seconds. Wayde never got the same coverage as Usain Bolt at that Olympics and he should have because he had the most incredible race and world record ever seen at the Olympics. Wayde is such a class act too. No antics, no BS. He is a role model.
Going out as fast as van niekerk is crazy. When butch reynolds ran 43.29 innocent egbunike opened in 20.5 which was the same split, but he completely crashed in the home stretch. Sustaining that speed after opening so fast is just superhuman.
You'd definitely think if a guy can run 43.03, on another day that could have been a 42.9x purely due to just the conditions, but it may not be accurate to think that pacing changes could have made him significantly faster. Some guys are fast, some are endurance beasts, the trick is to know the athletes abilities and tailor race strategy to that. Wayde's a bit faster than MJ was, MJ was a bit stronger endurance wise than Wayde. So I think their coaches tailored their race tactics to maximize their strengths. Wayde goes out hard and just hangs on over the last 30m, MJ strolls early and then comes home like a train. Going away from this might have actually worsened their performances. I think that will end up being Wayde's PB now, especially given the injuries.
I normally see these videos during lunch, but couldn't wait for this. The most shocking race I ever witnessed!
For anyone interested. His cousin scored the winning try of the rugby World Cup 2023. Very humble family.
i think he is currently running around 45 seconds atm because of a injury but im hoping the best for him to be the first under 43
Sadly not even close :'(
Beast! Lightning struck for this race. Niekerk's performance was other-worldy. Watching the faces of the other runners coming down the home stretch is priceless. Cheers
This was incredible. Wayde seems to be a very underrated athlete, despite his special achievements . This WR will hopefully stand for many years.
This is phenomenal!
Reference to the fact that WVN ran in the outside lane for his WR is a glaring omission from this commentary.
facts!
Yeah but with that pace and a pacing strategy it wouldn't matter what lane he'd be in.
Same distance.
@@justinfrederick9227 But different angle... You have to run more "sidewards" if this makes sense, inside is easier to run...

Anyone else WISH Wade & Michael coulda faced off? Two different eras and two different strategies. Wow.
Lets ne honest.. if micheal johnson was in this race it have been 42 something
Van Neikerk ran the first 100 on the curve in 10.70sec....Johnson: 11:10sec......Van Niekerk ran a full 0.30sec faster......In my opinion, Johnson would have run faster than this 11.10sec had he been running against Van Niekerk, and if that were the case, Johnson, (who ran 0.15sec FASTER than Van Neikerk in the FINAL 300m), would have absolutely obliterated the 43sec barrier......Michael Johnson ALWAYS rose up to the competition.....He's my absolute, favorite Track runner of all time (Bolt is a very close second)...
It would be an amazing rivalry and they'd push the WR well below 43
@@THE_HMRC Fair comment - very few rise to the competition and it's much more visible with the likes of 1500m races, some outstanding examples there (HEG). In time, we hope to see Wade demonstrate that tenacity that will hopefully take him to another level - a level he already possesses but needs that push to materialise his inner strength.
@@THE_HMRC Math's not my strong point but his first 100 was .40 seconds faster, right? 10.7 vs. 11.10. Almost half a second faster. Agree Johnson would have run faster opening 100 if in same race. If he got that down to 10.9 and rest of race held form he'd have clocked 42.98 and i think would have won. Would have been incredible race for sure.
@@Thomas-fk3cw ....you are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT in your math, and I am in total agreement with your assessment.
First, hey so I am going to do the Eliud Kipchoge challenge tomorrow and I want to send it to you, how do I do that?
Edit: Actually have to take a break tomorrow, did an absolute beast of a workout 5x 200m average 27 secs then 4x300 in 44 secs so yeah, maybe in two days.
Another edit: I'm going for 2miles
Edit: so yeah sorry for not doing this challenge yet, um I got contact traced, aunt had coronavirus and we went to her house for the holidays, and so I cannot go anywhere to run except my 100m backyard, which sounds fine, but let tell you, it's so hard to sustain any pace doing the tightest turns ever. I did the challenge today and managed a distance of 1200m on the 100m grass loop, and I am so exhausted, even though I have done many more difficult tasks. I mean that workout I did above was really hard, but on a 100 meter grass loop and doing the exact workout of 5x200 then 3x400, is basically impossible. I did 3 reps in 27 then the last two in 28 and all the 300s in 50 seconds. Just saying I am a sub 4:15 miler, 1:55 800m, and in my prime event(s), 10000m- 28:57 and 5000m 13:46, so you would think that the workout would not be hard, but on a 100m grass loop, it's basically impossible.
I challenge trp to do the Kipchoge challenge in his back yard.

definitely NOT true!
To put this insane time into a better context, he would have to run ever 100 meter in 10.75 seconds or less
It's a shame that he has trailed with injures these last years and that he couldn't be up to pace in the Olympics. I hope that he gets back in form (he's 29 yo) and dazzle the world with his amazing skills again.
I ran a 400 today I’m in 8th grade and ran a 58 flat which isn’t bad but it’s crazy how fast this guy is
Respect your 58. Anything below 60 is truly amazing for almost anyone , and ever more for an 8th grader.
Looking forward to the Olympics this year. The track and field events are electric.
Johnson’s last leg was incredible
This made me respect michael's time even more
Watch this space...World Champ from 2019 Stephen Gardiner just might lower the 400 WR (covid permitting).
I’m only 55 seconds away from crushing this ,so close but yes so far ,another month of intervals and I will be there or there abouts, but it really depends on the tail wind ,wish me 🤞 luck
55 seconds behind what time do you run?
1:36 ish ,I’m 53 and just really started running on track
You should have probably mentioned that in 2017 he tore his ACL in a charity event. It's a real shame as he was at the peak of his powers and he's never really been the same since
I hope this man is healthy and well now. His record is probably secure for decades if he doesn't break it himself. "Aging like fine wine" isn't a thing in Track and Field(could be wrong though).
Can we for once give someone credit without tearing another athlete down or comparing them.
who was tearing another athlete down?
To me his second 100m in the 400m race wasn’t the most impressive part about the race because Michael Johnson runs his first 200m very conservative so he doesn’t waste energy while Wayde goes hard from the gun and runs as fast as possible so I was expecting him to go quick in the second 100m. The impressive part about the race though is that even though he ran his first 200m extremely quick, he still had the energy to run a fast final 200 and pull away from the field. Most people would die after starting the first 200m like he did. This is even more insane taking into perspective how Michael Johnson runs because he never runs his first 200m under 21 seconds so his runs an absolutely insane final 200m but after extremely quick during the first 200m, he still ran extremely fast for his third 100m and when he was just about to die he still ran a fast final 100m. I do personally think if Johnson ran all out in 1996 he would go under 43 seconds
@Raymond O'Connor But he also ran the former WR in 1999 and won an Olympic medal in 2000. After that he retired. If he ran poor times please let me know. Not because I don’t believe you it’s because I genuinely want to know
@Raymond O'Connor Oh. That’s true. Thanks for clarifying
Here after Warholm broke the 46 sec mark on 400m hurdles....this sounds like a joke now
No doubt Wayde van Niekerk can run under 43.0 seconds. Michael Johnson could also have done it. It is still incredibly hard even for them to actually do it!
And there we are smiling to the brim. So proud of our South African talent.🏁 We love you Wade. Can't wait for your 2021 performance! 💃👏
I really don't think he could've gone any faster. The 400m is designed to destroy you. No matter how you pace it, you will be dead by the end. I don't think there was any way Wayde could've finished any faster. Michael Johnson was a powerhouse who could sustain his speed over a tremendous distance. Wayde on the other hand, is a more economic runner, with perfect form. He had to start fast and put some distance ahead of the rest (since he was in lane 8) so he could crawl to the end, just managing to pull ahead of the rest through sheer power of will. It takes some serious guts to start a 400 that fast and some amazing strength to be able to pull yourself across the finish line after putting your body through that.
I would like nothing better than to see him back to his very best. 42:99 here we come 👍🏻
The problem with comparing records comparing splits like this it doesn't really give you the full picture, You should have mentioned 400m is so dependant on strategy. Some runners will blast it all around (create a big lead but slow towards the end); other the blast - coast - blast (fast start maintain position but come strong towards end) and the other less popular cruise all the way but finish like a beast - think Christine Oghuru. It's clear Van Nierkerk adopted the first and Johnson the second which explains why Johnson's splits were better in the latter 1/3. It does raise an important proble for coaches and dictate strategy/how people now train for this for this race. Absolute beast of a performance!
What would be more amazing....him coming back to run under 43 or him even coming back to run at that level at all after tearing an ACL?
it is hard to say, the time is different, sometimes people will get stronger when he meet a foe. Thus Johnson may boost much faster when he's in such situation.
This is so amazing to me. I know track athletes dont get nearly as much love (in the usa) as mlb NFL NBA players but the absolute finest tuned athletes are in track and field. They push human limits more than any other sport. Its truly amazing and makes me wish I would have worked harder in my track and field days even if I would have never been world class despite my training
It’s crazy how different the form looks what if Johnson’s form was better shaped to the running form we use today would his time be even faster
What pointless speculation. Your comments that had he run faster he would have have set a lower world record is sort of self evident wouldn't you say?
jeremy wariner 400m - 43.25
I'd love to see him race well in 2021. I'm thinking splits like 10.8, 9.95, 10.5, 11.75 would be about right for him. He seems to have speed considering he's really quick over the 100 and 200, so I don't think he has to pull back a whole lot to play to his strengths.
Van Niekerk runs his heart out to break the WR
Total Running Productions: *He could've run much faster*
The coolest thing is not only did he break running on the outside lane (no one in front of you to catch up with) but he also has the coolest stride, much larger than most sprint runners
My best time from high school is 66s…..haven’t train after high school for 10 yr because I don’t have a track to go to until this summer. My best time right now is 75s. But it is after 4 100 and 200m practice. Hope I can get under 60s this yr.
Actually, I think had MJ run a not so conservative first 200m, he'd have run sub 43 back in 1999, and would still have the record to this day. My guess is a 42.85 for Michael
Johnson trained also a lot for 200 meters and injured himself in a 150m race. He surely could have run below 43s in an official race.
There will be a day where someone will start as good as wayde and finish as good as johnson. And they will hold the record
Had Johnson had someone pushing him for the first 300 like the new record holder... he would have smashed the 43 second barrier. He was not losing speed at the end of 400 meters like everyone else always does.
true.
Wayde is the faster runner. It's just a matter of getting it right on the day and the faster man will always win.
Sadly Niekerk is done. He could have went below 43seconds but it just wasnt meant to be. Now he is too old and injury riddled. I dont see anyone breaking this record for a long time. Michael Johnson was very special as is Niekerk.
And Johnson looked like he was jogging his first two hundred meters.
It's called pacing...it's how smart runners get their best re-sizzle-ts
@@notreally2406 I know what it's called. I ran track collegiately.
sorry bad ,you are wrong
I am from Spain and i am a 400 meter runner, sub49s i did learn a lot in that distance and maybe for Van nieckert ist just easier to make an stong start that the oposite.
Agreed. I’ve run sub 50 in the 400 and the fastest 100 or 200 isn’t a great indicator of how strongly you’ll finish. In many ways, anything beyond 300 is a game of who can slow down the slowest. In other words, it comes down to who has the greatest stamina to maintain the most speed possible through the finish.
Beating Johnson’s 100 and 200 m splits doesn’t tell you very much about the competing athlete’s overall 400 m sprinting endurance. Stop and think for a moment, Johnson ran sub 10 and 20 in the open 100 and 200 meter sprints, respectively, out of the blocks. But, what does that really tell us about his 400 potential?
No doubt, the current World Record holder for the 400 is the most likely person to find the right pacing to break their own record, but it probably won’t be because their first two 100m split times are significantly faster than Johnson’s splits.
Lane 8 Legend! Best of Luck to him breaking his own record!
Michael Johnson was an absolute legend. He thrilled me over 200m and 400m. I'd never heard of Van Niekerk until he broke Johnsons long standing record. And what's more amazing, is that he did it from the outside lane.
I am still fighting for 10.7 as my PB. Will get there
for 400m? thats going to be really hard but if you do it it will shatter Van Niekirk's record
It’s funny how their first 100m of the 400m time is literally scholarship level 100m times lolol
Somone fast would run 14 in the 100m. Him, averaging 10.7 the whole time. 🤯
No way. I ran 12.5 in high school and couldn't make the track team.
That's remarkable!!!
I found this argument very unconvincing.
Finally someone with facts
I'm just amazed that he's in the 8th lane. I do know running in the last lane make you overcompensate. 4th Lane was my money lane and I always ran hard to make sure I could get it.
There are two races in the last 20 years where my jaw dropped because it was such an incredible performance or emotionally amazing. 2000 Sydney, when Cathy Freeman won under immense pressure on home soil (in a catsuit no less!), and this race w/ Wade running blind in lane 8!! Absolutely amazing
Yeah, Cathy was under ridiculous pressure, I was thrilled for her.
Bruh low-key usain bolt could beat this 400m if he trained for it
this dude can get a medal in the 200 m if he participate at it
All I have to say is TRP this video is a great one and I will put a like for you on this great job TRP👏👏👏 so bye😂😂
I remember watching this live it was amazing
from 100-200 metres van completed in 9.50 sec which is faster than bolts world record of 100 metre
its not same, 0-100 and 100-200/ think!
Where do you get your background music from ?
audioblocks.com!
Too much music and editing effects. Too many details and numbers without time to absorb them. Too distracting fast switching. And, in general, I disagrre on the principle: "he could have run much faster" means nothing. Maybe he simply used up all his energies to come to 300 m ?? This is track and field, not Excel. By the way: I *hate* the catchy 42,99 thumbnail.
Agree - "As you can see..." [Screen flashes and fades]. The claim "could have run faster" is not substantial either.
What is worth considering is: We'll see a spring specialist step up to 400m and probably break 43s at some point. I mean VN was a sprinter of 100m and 200m with strong PBs to start with and oc Johnson is one of the best 200m runners ever still also.
Here’s hoping he gets back to that form in 2021.
There's no hoping...he will !!
Wait if can run 400 metre in 40 seconds
What’s amazing is he ran it blind out of lane 8...
Absolutely...in the difficult lane...
I'm commenting so so late 😂
But we celebrated with you Wayde . You made us proud in Mzanzi. Thanks for the dedication.
Thank you JESUS CHRIST.
His performance made me proud to be south african.
Why ? it had nothing to do with you, nor the fact that he was born in a part of the world which - for now - is called South Africa.
@@grahamturner97 You must be really popular. Jk you definitely have no friends.
