That was what #waydevanniekerk said in July, weeks before Budapest. And in a few more days, we would see him, along with other powerful sprinters, compete. It’s something to look forward to, of course, but what Wayde van Niekerk has been doing in his races so far this season is as remarkable as him competing in World’s.
That said, let’s take a look at how Wayde van Niekerk has been owning the men’s 400 m! Before anything else, let me say this: Wayde Van Niekerk is living up to his reputation as one of the greatest sprinters of his generation. Well, with that kind of opening, you probably would have high expectations, but that’s fine. Wayde is worth bragging about.
Even the fastest sprinter in the world of #trackandfield is amazed by the things Wayde can do. In 2017, #usainbolt had identified Van Niekerk as the man to replace him, predicting: “He will take over, without a doubt.”

I'm confused by this comment, he trains in US with the Adidas team since 2021, he also stays there. Visits SA often on breaks and competitions here. Yes he did not do as well in the Budapest final as he would have loved to, but everything doesn't always happen as planned. I still cheer him on as his journey is inspiring, not just to other athletes but to all who struggle with set backs in life.

@@user-iu7uo5hx5k I know all too well how serious his injury was , I am from Cape Town SA. I never said he will win a medal, you mentioned his trainer is too far and money is tight for him.. He trains well and has other form of income as well. I am aware he won't be the same as 8 years ago, none of us are the same physically as 8 years ago without being an athlete. I am saying don't rule him out as washed up coz he is not, we can all learn from his resilience and perseverance.
