Bryan's rhythm work here is absolutely insane
Dood
I keep going back to this rendition and execution of Cherokee Shuffle.i am sure I am not the only one.
Most people can play the right notes. These guys play the notes right.
Homeboy is absolutely shredding that mando.
I wish these two would some more duets. I know this was made as a promo for their school, but this is incredible, maybe my favorite version of this tune.
You can just hear and feel that Bryan has been doing this his whole life, so relaxed and natural to him. Beautiful playing, love studying this guy as a young picker.
Bryan's rhythm playing on Mike's first break is the coolest part about this video
I agree. Inspiring

It really is something spectacular. His rhythm is just as mesmerizing as the lead!
Man I wish there was an official recording of this. So, so good
Two of the best players & teachers around. I urge others to join ArtistWorks' School of Bluegrass guitar and mandolin. Two of the best musical moves I've ever made!
They are good people! Have spoken to Bryan and he's such an easy going guy.
Bryan Sutton is from another planet.
Not just fast notes ... fast STYLISH, CLEAN & TASTY notes! I tip my 👉🎩 ...
One of my favorite songs. Always puts a smile on my face. This is a great rendition. Brian is the GOAT.
Both masters of the genre and their instruments. Wow.
Bryan makes playing like that look so easy
Them boys keep playing they might get good one day.
I am no expert on instruments but that looks a pre-war Martin of some type that Bryan is playing and I am almost certain that is a Lloyd Loar F-5 Gibson that Mike is playing. Whatever they are these guys make them sing.
Stunning. Great mandolin by Mike Marshall. Bryan Sutton's guitar playing is mind-boggling....incredible touch, taste and tone. And to top it all off two wonderful sounding instruments. This is a video to cherish.
Definitely took it to the next level.
I've always been amazed that Mike Marshall can play a small thing like a mandolin with fingers that seem to be as big around as quarters.and make it look easy.
So it's not an optical delusion! I was thinking those digits looked a bit "beefy", but MAN can he put em' down nice and clean between those frets,eh?
*Optical illusion
Stellar! This is one of my favorite fiddle Tunes to play and these guys really know how to do it!
Highly recommend Bryan's bluegrass guitar school on ArtistWorks.
Amazing recording quality! Felt like I was in the room!
That's the pristine precision sound all mandolinists should aspire to.
Takes the edge off a hard day. Thank you so much for that.
How can two people NOT like this?
Thanks for posting this...A joy to listen to and observe two really fine musicians at play.
you guys made me cry! it was awesome
that inside string picking at the end of Bryan's 1st break is nuts
Great music and a master class for any flat picker or mandolin player. Wow.
My god how awesome is Bryan Sutton!
Watching Mike's hand moves, it felt like the video was set to 2x speed. Insane.
Love the mandolin playing. Dynamics and tone variation by moving hand position. I dislike a lot of mandolin playing as they seem to just thrash the thing at max volume for the entire solo 😁
(Denmark) So technically ingenious played. Amazing a type off double trios on madolin 🌹🌹
Wow these guys are unreal! 🤘
You guys are awesome. Thank you.
Great stuff!
Thanks for posting.
I still can't get Mike''s huge fingers making the mando sing... These guys are just fun to watch.
Just As Great As It Could Be..
Hell yea!
Mike was a great basketball player in High School.
That was sick
These guys be good 👍 what pickin
Awesome
INCREDIBLE.
Bryan - would be a GREAT song to add to the flat-picking school at AW if you want!
Agree 100%
Yes, Cherokee Shuffle would be a lovely addition to the AW repertoire.
So musical!
Mics should have been reversed: Neumann should have been on Bryan, AKG should have been on the mando. Small diaphragm condensers like that narrow what already is a limited frequency response range in the mando compared to the guitar. Plus, that model of AKG emphasizes low-end frequencies--probably not the best idea when paired to an already low-freq-biased instrument.
That'll do!
this is freaking incredible 😍
how great!
god bless both mike is a bloody mad man love'n it!
awesome!!!
Superb.
wowww amazing
Great playing! Did that guitar once belong to Chris Eldridge?
Is it me, or does Mike Marshall have absolutely gargantuan Hendrix-hands? Like he could palm a medicine ball?
Bravo 😀
YEAH!!
WOW !
WOW😲 I'm learning Cherokee Shuffle but I think something might be wrong with my mandolin because it doesn't play it like this! 🤣
well hell------- thats good stuff
OMGoooooodness…!!!😅😂🥰
Who are the 13 chowderheads that disliked this?!?
Chip, great comment, they were probably looking for the 'how to fry a f***ing egg' video (4M views) love You Tube, but there's some crap out there, all the best.
They da bluegrass haters
Great well deserved comments.
What guitar is this?
Anyone else catch that mandolin pickin' technique at 1:36 - 1:40?
All I can say is Dang !!!
💃
Mike Marshall's hands are big as mud flaps.
My hands are bigger.
Ya see that a lot...people good with their hands..their hands are magnified.....kinda counterproductive if you're a diamond cutter or a mandolin player on the 14th fret, but he does seem to do ok...
poeple should understand that real music right there
I wouldn’t play it like that.
But I’m trying...
The sound of god
Mike’s hands are some big ol meat hooks! lol
O
Hot digerdy dang !!
That doesn’t suck.
Not even a little.
UA-cam?
Their hands look a bit faster than they should
3 minutes of ear candy😀
gibson used to be great mandolin
Missed a note…
All of this is just so ridiculous. So insanely ridiculous. I'm working on this song, and I think I'm about fifteen lifetimes I might get half as good
that is not brian sutton
Of course it is
You’re right, it’s Bryan Sutton.
I can't help feeling the guitar solos are trying to cram too many notes in. The mandolin solos are more musical imo. Rhythm guitar is terrific from Bryan. Great rendition, though.
I think the unrelenting nature of the guitar leads builds a lot of tension that makes the endings really satisfying and are just right for the tempo of the song.
Jealous I see 😂😂 very tasteful and talented rendition by both players😎
Honestly not my favorite work from Marshall. Not the most complimentary playing I’ve heard by a long shot. Everything sounds a little disjointed
