    The CARES framework sounds so promising! Especially the focus on restfulness and support. A lot of leaders overlook the need for that

      Let's change the workplace, one leader at a time

    I could really tell how much Calebs gift meant to you in that opening story - those are the kind of personal connections that seem so rare in professional settings these days and really should be cherished

    • @iamcarmenparedes
      @iamcarmenparedes 26 днів тому

      it was, but actually even better was when I ran into him and his wife at the state fair this summer and she told me that I've been the best leader he's had. :)

    This is tough because I think team members really look to those in charge to set the tone in a workplace and it's hard not to feel pressured to go above and beyond when you see your leaders pushing themselves to the edge

    • @iamcarmenparedes
      @iamcarmenparedes 7 днів тому

      That’s exactly why the leaders are the ones responsible 😊

    The idea that burnout prevention should be a company priority is spot on, but from experience, it's rare to find leaders with the emotional intelligence to manage this.

      100% and that's why I've made it my mission to teach leaders emotional intelligence

    Restfulness, pretty foreign in the higher ranks. My friend's a CFO and he's expected to be available and willing at all times while pushing 80+ hours a week. The guy never complains, but you know there's gonna be those that are like "yeah that's why they get paid $xxx,xxx" or "if you can't hack it get another..."

    • @iamcarmenparedes
      @iamcarmenparedes 2 місяці тому

      I never complained either, until I almost die. please share this video with your friend so he knows he isn't alone and that it's not ok.

    The burnout story is super relatable, so many people I know have gone through something along those lines and it just seems so crazy that overworking to that degree has been completely normalized

    • @iamcarmenparedes
      @iamcarmenparedes 2 місяці тому

      Thank you for your comment and yes, so crazy. Let’s un-normalize it❤

    It is incredible how most of us just react to the burn out just until an important situation or condition slaps just in the face. 😪

    If burnout really is rooted in trauma it's something that needs to be discussed wayyyyy more than what it is currently. I do think a lot of it is just unsustainable workloads though

    The CARES framework seems helpful but I'm a little stuck on how to apply it to my exact situation. Maybe I just need more upskilling on how to create day-to-day strategies. Honestly being a manager is hard.

    What a light you shine on how we leaders can alchemize our childhood traumas to truly empower other leaders! BOOM!

  • @Therealspence
    @Therealspence Місяць тому

    It's interesting to think about childhood experiences as factors in our work habits. Personally I think you're on to something but I don't know how leaders would be able to help their staff become aware of those subconscious patterns. It's not like they're therapists or anything like at the end of the day they're also just people

    • @iamcarmenparedes
      @iamcarmenparedes Місяць тому

      Thank you! My idea is that leaders can point their employees toward the right resources but for that they need to care first about them. Definitely not suggesting they, the leaders can fix the issues ❤

    Just don't be toxic. Don't encourage or "let slide" behaviors that go against the work culture. Don't ask people to do more than what they're capable of.
