Well I feel you should review Tiger Blades made in Czech Republic very smooth irritation free blades for me and last about 2-3x, as well as Tatra which is same Brother company..
Also second blade of choice which is hard to find is Astra Blue Superior made in Czech Republic very nice blades and can get easily 7 shaves out it but wouldn’t push more than that…

I did not see this comment before I made mine (that I had never heard of Kizamet...). The image you show in your video DOES show the name as "Kizamet" on the label, so I thought this was a true name of another blade that I did not know about.

As a native Russian speaker - K is silent in Voskhod (i think it was put in for English version because if you write Voshod the "s" and "h" after each other produces the "sh" sound which is not how you pronounce Восход) the "x" in Russian makes the same sound as H in Hi.

I can remember a while back I was in an antique shop, and in a display case they had old no longer produced packs of razor blades. I ended up buying 4 packs of different blades. I used these blades as long as they were not rusty. Best blade I ever put to my face was the Gillett Thin blades. Amazing shave! I still watch for them old blades and pick them up when I can.

Perma sharp and Lapra blades should of been on list . Nacet last 4 shaves but they shave the best. Wizamet Super Iridium Double Edge Blade last the longest maybe 8 shaves but not as close of shave as nacet but it's smoother . You want a really close shave or blades that are almost and last longer.

Feathers and Astras are in my top 3 right now as well, and the Personna Reds are good, but probably not in my top tier. I'm going to have to revisit Nacets. I haven't used one since I first started. I didn't enjoy them then, but I think it was one of the first blades I tried, so that very well could have been my technique. Great information as always, Todd.

My favorite blades are permasharp & nacet i rotate between them both, i got 100 pack of each for $15 on Amazon so i paid $30 for 200 blades. I also use green Astra but if i dont use preshave oil i get skin irritation with the astra blades, so i now use preshave oil before shaving & dont get skin irritation. Haven't tried the feather blades yet but when i order more ill get me some to try out, i also hear Muhle blades are very good also so i might try them both next time i order more.

Oops. The Super Iridium blades are branded Wizamet, not Kizamet. It is descended from a razor blade which was made in Poland, branded Pol Silver. They distributed razor blades throughout the Soviet sphere of influence, and were renowned for their sharpness, smoothness, and longevity.
After the collapse of the USSR the firm was acquired and production was moved to St. Petersburg, but the branding was unchanged. At some point Procter and Gamble became involved as the distributor and the branding was changed to Wizamet, but they continued manufacture in St. Petersburg. Distribution was mostly focused on former Eastern Block countries, the Arab speaking market, and a couple of countries in Africa. I do not believe they are still in production.
Are the Wizamet blades the same as the Pol Silver Russian made blades? Some say yes, others say no. I am unwilling to pay the price that Pol Silver blades go for to find out. But, the Wizamet blades are pretty gobsmackingly good. They are my favorite blades so far.

My opinion is PolSilver S.I. not the same as Wizamet S.I. I've tried about three of each. Both sharp but Wiz were sharper. PolSilver were irritating while Wizamet mostly smooth. I was able to get more than 20 shaves per blade from Wizamet, but much much MUCH less than that from PolSilvers - maybe only about 3 or 4 and just not comfortable even at that.

    Great vid!
It's been a bit since this vid but I am really surprised Rapira Plat Luxe were not mentioned. They are my new Pol Silvers along with Wizamets. I agree Feathers are better after the initial shave but not significantly enough to deal with that first use issue. Also a lot of people like Voskhods, I wanted to like them but I found them to be tuggy until you got the teflon off the edge of the blade. Once again not worth it when others are ready out of the package.

I put off trying Feathers because of what I heard about how sharp they are. But, if you have your technique down and you know your beard map and what you can and mustn't do in problem areas, they give a fantastic shave. I recover from a Feather shave faster than any other blade I've tried. But I have several more to try. But at this point the Feather, for me, is the standard by which I judge other blades.

Feather, I keep coming back. Plows through 4-5 days growth with shockingly little pressure. 2-3 shaves max, I agree.
Wilkinson Sword, not very sharp, but smoothest blade for when you shave sooner than you really should. 2 max for me, then inconsistent.
Astra....I have no idea because the only one I ever tried had globs of glue on it. I'd never touch them again even if they were free. REAL hassle.

My experience with some of these blades puts Feather, Nacet and Gillette Platinum at the top (with Nacet and GP both staying sharp for about twice as many shaves as the feather), Voskhod slightly below and Astra green way below for sharpness. The Gillette Platinum are amazing in giving a great shave in any razor - even blindfolded or half asleep.

Re: The Astra SP blades. About 2 years ago they made a change in the process for these blades and moved from printed text on them with numbers indicating the 4 sides of the blade (which was used in QC) to laser etching. Several forum commentators indicated that the "new" blades were not as smooth and/or inconsistent. The manufacturer claims that they are identical, and that the only change made was in the markings on the blade... But, the price for these "new" Astra blades is lower. They are a budget priced blade now.
As a budget priced blade they perform well beyond expectations. I have never tried any of the "old" Astra SP blades. But it is important to keep in mind that several of the folks who loved the "old" blades hate the "new" blades. This makes it difficult to parse out what is what in user reviews of these blades. The downside of these "new" blades is that they are short lived. I get 3 shaves out of them, but not 4. This makes them less of a bargain than they might appear to be.

I found that the blade I like depends on the razor. I bought a cheap twist DE razor to test from target and a 100 sample pack online. My favorites were Gillete Platinum second a Voskod. First. Feather was far too sharp.
The shaves were far superior to cartridge razors, but I didn't like how the razor would open its I used it on my legs and stuff mecause I have to shave with out looking some and maneuver.
Then I figured why not try the feather razor package with the cute stand. Saw it on Amazon. It was super expensive, but people said it was safe and smooth. As I use it in my legs and bikini area I care about that.
The voskod work great in that razor. The gillete Platinum don't. However, the feather blades became perfect. The shaves are just so easy and smooth and the whole process is comfortable. No cuts, and my skin isn't irritated much at all.
The combo is so good I can't really imagine anything better. I haven't tried Nacet, but since I already have 100 voskod and 100 feather I doubt I will try anything new for awhile.

Hi Daniel. Well it seems that the ones in the black package (5 count) did not say platinum coated on the blade at the time this video was recorded (as you can see in the picture around 8:50 mark), whereas the yellow ones (10 count) do. I am not sure if that has changed because I do not currently have a pack of the black ones. I will do some more checking and get back with you. My apologies if I gave you incorrect info. I either misspoke or had incorrect info at the time. Thanks.

I just got my new Karve stainless C-Plate… gave no respect and suffered weepers using GSB blades. However I only have Voshkod and Gillette Silver blues. I need a smoother blade… something like a Voshkod or in between. Any suggestions guys?

    • @Dtownvino
      @Dtownvino 3 роки тому +1

7 o’clock yellows and believe it or not, Derby Premiums (black)… but with the Karve - ride the cap or move to a B plate, it’s more angle with the C plate and technique than a GSB. After 30 years of shaving with a straight razor and safety razor, I’ve learned my lessons from trial and error…

Not a guarantee of smoothness, but maybe LOI Titanium? Have you tried any of the Gillette 7 O'Clock blades? Your request is surprising because the one and only Gillette Silver Blue that I tried was one of the very smoothest blades (for me).

Gillette produces only 3 types of razor blades in St. Petersburg under different names:
    1. Non-chrome blades: Astra Stainless, 7 O'Clock Stainless, Gillette Nacet, Gillette Silver Blue.
    2. Chrome blades: Astra Platinum, Polsilver, Super Iridium, Gillette Silver Blue, 7 O'Clock Sharp Edge, Perma-Sharp, Gillette Platinum.
    3. Chrome-platinum blades : Gillette Rubie Platinum, Gillette Minora.
Different brands are recognized in different countries, for example the manufacturer's name Wizamet and brands Polsilver and Super Iridium come from Poland, and Astra from the former Czechoslovakia.
So it's time to understand that Astra Stainless is Nacet with a different name, and Astra Platinum and Polsilver are Gillette Platinum with a different name and, contrary to the name, they are not platinum or iridium coated, as originally. P&G is just lying to customers by preying on their habits. The razor blades have some kind of coating if it is so literally written on the package, and a single word suggesting a coating is only a misleading, deceptive name.
If you feel any differences between the same blades with different names, it is because they are all made of the same steel from 3 different manufacturers. It does not change the fact that all St. Petersburg razor blades are the same product in three variants of the coating.
It would be worth making a video about this, so that viewers do not buy products unavailable in their countries at excessive prices. There is no point in making comparisons between Super Iridium and Polsilver. One after the other, UA-camrs specialize in duplicating false information.

Listing for "Gillette Silver Blue" you placed into two separate categores; one as Non-Chrome and the other as Chrome. I do not understand. I THOUGHT Gillette Silver Blue blades to be all the same. Nothing different shown on any labeling for figure which is which.

I'm not buying any russian products anymore since I don't want to indirectly finance their war industry. This makes the choice of razor blades a little easier. Incidentally, the production of Astra blades was moved to India due to the embargo by P&G, same blades, prize and quality.
