Howdy Folks...I'm Cal Kellogg. I'm the face of the FHS Fishing Channel here on UA-cam. My business partner, Wes Ward shows up here once in a while, but spends most of his time behind the scenes making our world run smoothly.

I've spent my entire life in the outdoors and trout fishing is one of my lifelong passions. Every time I go fishing my goal is to learn something new. I'm obsessed with exploring the new frontier in terms of trout gear.
I created the Hybrid Leadcore trolling system. I've popularized using trolling flies for trout and especially for trophy trout.
The new frontier of trout trolling and trout fishing in general is soft plastic baits. I've developed several different soft baits and vetted them in real world fishing situations in order to develop the most effective ways of rigging and fishing them.

We were at Collins a couple weeks ago and fell victim to exactly what you mentioned in this video lol. We were trolling in the top 10 feet with a fly and an orange maglips, to start. We got a crappie on the fly and a bass on the maglips, but then I started seeing big marks on the finder at about 30 to 40 feet deep, so we switched to the downrigger and dragged a bunch of different stuff through them for 3 hours and didn't get a single hit! Now we know to leave those big suckers alone and keep hammering the top 10 feet. As always, thanks for the video...my wife and I have learned a ton from you and we appreciate it👍
You are on the road to success… Hammer the top and don’t give up. They don’t bite all dash every day… put your gear in the zone and when they go you’ll be ready… Keep your drags adjusted correctly and think about how you will net a really big rainbow… that’s how you close the deal when that fish comes! Hello, thank for the tips and tricks. Question tho do you have an advice about fishing for trout in mid July?
do you guys also find powerbait dough to be better than the nuggets? the nuggets certainly looks more natural but the scent is just stronger and longer lasting in dough?

PowerBait is very effective….. don’t cast too far. The fish are in 10 feet of water or less….
