Not sure what you say about LK. The Gogos are charging the same as WS in terms of ladies and drinks. Pothole is the only place keeping it real.
Treetown irrespective of the rumours will struggle. Buckaow has always been a cheap Charlie area. Cheap booze, hotels and women. Treetown is trying to buck that trend and will fail in the main with the exception of a couple of popular sports bars etc
Flights will remain high imo but the bigger issue is the baht falling.
The quality of women has generally fallen dramatically. More expensive for less quality but bigger attitude.
The cheap eats are less but you can still get cheap farang food at places like Cheap Charlie’s. The 40 baht Thai food is now 50/60. I see more farangs outside 7/11 now than ever before with a bottle of beer and some cheap 7/11 shite. Sign of the times I guess with more huge 7/11 opening a few yards from another one.
Jomtien and Pratumnak is a winner at the mo. Busy and good vibe.

Keef .....Spot On you are .... I overall (as an expat living in Jomtien for the last 4 years) see in general an increase approx. 20% to 30% for food, hotels, beers etc. the bar fines/girls even more (and, yeah overall, they are less attentive /attractive) ....world inflation has hit everywhere for sure.... the alcohol buying at 7/11 & Family Mart and hangout and drink has increased big in the last year for sure .....And lets face it , the vast majority of Farang(s)/Foreigners /Tourist that actually spend the money in the Beer Bars, Go Go's & Gentlemens clubs are the Europeans/Scandinavians, the Aussies, the Americans and the Canadian's .... In General, Walking Street/Beach Road, Many India people there ....but they are not in the Bars/Go Go's/Clubs spending $$$ ..... Same with the Russians in Jomtien (at 7/11 not in the bars) ...Soi Buakhao/Pothole area is still the best place to be for the money ! Thailand is still a good place to be !!!

I stayed at LK Residence on Diana. I took my breakfast at Kung's every morning (fantastic sausages). Lunch was at Da's or Kiss. Dinner at Lee's on Diana or various delicious spots in Tree Town. I'm not a food snob, but everything was delicious and I had no bad meals. I came to Thailand to eat Thai food. 😋

I'm coming from the US to Thailand in March for several weeks. The flight was the most I've ever paid coming out to Thailand, but the way I look at it, I can afford it and life is too short. :) Although the dollar is not as strong against the baht as it was, you can still have a great time. I can go out almost every night, have drinks, get a nice buzz, sometimes have some female company and still have money to spare. It's all about being smart with your money and paying attention to what you do. I look forward to coming back.

Just left yesterday. First time back since two weeks before Covid. Stayed on LK Metro. Spent most of my time there and on Pothole. I wasn’t at all put off by the prices and while the numbers may be less, the women were on whole not disappointing. Now, that being said, I don’t do gogos. Not my thing. That’s why I was sad to see Kilkenny closing for another gogo. I was never a big fan of WS and that continues, especially now that half the shops are Cannabis. I was also happy to see Bamboo reopened…I like to shake it every now and then and am not adverse to the age group of the ladies. I had a great time and didn’t break the bank. It will all come down to each one’s expectations and experience though.

Well over 20 years ago now, an already long-termer said to me "never invest in Thailand more than you can afford to lose", and in all my years, I've seen that proven true many more times than false.
My experience since September is the prices for accomodation are very reasonable, but everything else has gone up. The prices haven't gone up by a large amount for the best part (e.g. ฿10-20 per dish in cafes), but the problem is the exchange rate stinks, so real world makes it significantly more expensive here... fast food costs more than the UK, and even a fairly simple meal in a half decent restaurant is going to cost you £15-20. The only true bargin right now is Bolt!
With all due respect, Trev, you're out of touch with things like the exchange rate and how much the "minor" price increases are really impacting the cost of visiting over living here, and saying "the prices are cheap/good/pretty much the same" is quite misleading. I don't go out partying or pay bar girls, and I've easily rattled through £6k in the last 4-5 months travelling around the country, almost exclusively on subsistence! Those additional ฿10/฿20/฿50s soon add up!

Oh how Pattaya has changed coming from an old timer .I remember Pattaya when it was a sleepy village when South Pattaya was all there was .Had a Mikes department store ,and Foodland on Pattaya central road . The go go bars were packed with no 1s and 2s and only a few guys in a a time .They were all over you like flies it was like being in an all you can eat buffet by yourself .
The main Tourists were from Uk,Norway,Sweden ,Germany ,USA Australia. No internet,no video calling .You came here and had a great time .i remember one night I got so pissed I collapsed passed out in South Pattaya. Two Thai guys carried me to my hotel and the staff helped me up to my room .i woke up the next morning with 5000 baht which I had when I went out .i often wonder if that could happen today. There was no Russian ,Indian Arab,Chinese tourists none that I saw anyway. The prices remained consistent for years in years out .sure the Thai girls even back then were up to there old tricks with a few blokes sending money and then hoping both didn’t decide to holiday at the same time .Only a few bars in Jomtien ,oh the good old days but times do change for the better or the worse .i will cherish my good times and happiness smiles and I still will keep coming out for a holiday as long as I can afford it with airfares now 3x the price it was prior Covid .Hope everything settles down price wise and gets back to normal.😊

This has even happened at places I frequently attend and know many of the staff very well, on one occasion an 700 baht was added after buying 1 more drink, so I checked bin and was short changed another 100 baht.

Girls are charging more and the bar fines are higher too. Example, a bar we use to go to their bar fine was 300 now it’s 750. The girls are asking a lot more, not everywhere, but in most places. He said the agogo girls are charging between 3500 to 5000. He said that’s where you will find the 9s and 10s. Beautiful girls. You might think they will struggle with those price, but apparently the Koreans and Japanese are paying those prices.

Ultimately, pattaya is at the beginning of a change from a budget holiday destination for single men, to a more expensive holiday destination for families. Just look at the new condos and 5 star hotels springing up on every spare piece of land. We are about 12-24 months away from LK metro charging same prices as walking street. As for walking street, we are a few years off 250b beers, 400b ladydrinks, and 5000b barfines.

Why worry Walking Street will charge Bkk rates, central pattaya will charge WS rates and Jomtien will become the new central pattaya. Or maybe some other city or town will. When there is an overwhelming demand at a certain price level, supply ultimately will flow that way. Keynesian Economics.

@@sayanbanerjee2232 I'm not worried. I live in Thailand and only occasionally visit Pattaya. But, if it becomes as expensive as BKK then I will stop visiting. Thai beer is terrible, and I don't think it's good vfm at close to 200b for a small bottle. Ladydrinks, 250b for a tiny shot of lolly water and 5 mins of a girls time, no thanks! Still plenty of fun to be had, but the bars are quickly become more like European stripclubs than fun, hands-on experiences.

I was quoted 1300 baht in LK Metro in a open front bar!
    Absolutely bonkers.
On the other hand BFs in TT, Pothole etc were generally between 300-500 baht.
I did experience some waiting in restaurants because of lack of staff, with many advertising for staff.

I’ve been waiting to see if the price goes down a bit but it’s getting more more expensive nearly every day and to be honest I do love Thailand and I’ve been coming to Thailand for nearly 15 years but I’m not paying £1300 for a flight no way. I just feel like I can’t warrant that much money for a single flight. Im lucky cos I can afford it but I’m sure there’s loads of other people that don’t even earn £1300 a month. It was not nearly as busy as it was before covid and also service in restaurants/bars was very different than before (and I mean this in a negative way). I kept wondering that what on earth is the matter, and came to the conclusion that the staff is simply inexperienced. Everybody lost their jobs during lockdown and many workers moved on. Currently they have loads of new people who just haven’t learned the job yet. And it SHOWS. Also people generally seemed a lot more gloomy than before, but then again, that’s only natural after all this horrible mess. Maybe it will stabilize in a year or two.
EDIT: I also found some places almost completely deserted. And I mean places that used to be busy before. Lots of businesses closed. So the effects of covid are definitely visible.

Now if I have a budget of £2k for cheeky trip and the flights are costing double, taxi from airport and some hotels 25% more , even ice coffee is 25% more so my 2k is still 2k but pre Covid my 2k was split 50/50 1k travel, food etc. and 1k for booze n entertainment, now my 2k is 70/30 . Meaning the bars get less of my holiday spends . Some of you might say well bring more money, but as I already said I’m a frequent visitor and not one of them guys who visit once every 18 months save all that time and have a proper blow out. What was once a lively area full of bars, girls and happy sailors are now all gone and remaining are some tattooed women behind windows and some sex shops for sake of tourist attraction, the rest are cafe's, restaurants and pubs for the young and party going crowd. I honestly don't think prices have changed a lot for hotels, food and drink but flights definitely have and by sounds of it bargirls too and standards are way down than pre COVID but the main problem specially for us Brits is the pound is so weak across the world nowhere outside of UK is a cheap holiday anymore sadly

What I'm saying is that when you talk about being a normal punter I guess what you causes normal determines the amount of money you need but what I am saying is if you go into places like walking Street for example then yes you're going to need some money

I’ve seen single tickets as low as £300 to BKK if you can travel on given availability date with two stops and self check in ETA up to 50hrs. But you’ll defiantly need a few massages to recover from that
