- Trends have infiltrated our clothing, bodies, homes, and language. This made me entertain a dark thought, do any of us have any unique interests? Do any of us have taste?

Yessss. Dress for your body type, it changes everything. I haven’t bought trends for over 10 years.
As a goth ( with a very personal cultural twist on it) since 22 years now, it is always funny to see that some years, you are avant garde so fashion week inspiring, sometimes, you kind of blend in because everyone is wearing black, and others people look at you as if you were an outdated antique dusty halloween decoration.
goth for 24 years, here. you are absolutely correct. we truely have seen this a couple of times over the last 25 years. it goes hand in hand with this whole hatred/fetishization cycle we are exposed to, constantly. people either hate us or they fetishize us. now that the bigtiddygothgf has run her course, its back to being insulted and accused of being pet sacrificing satanists, and to being a halloween decoration
Sad that all of this is catered only to women..
men don’t have “big influencers” or style trends, and if they do, they’re done for a long time and we don’t have “micro trends”
Also staying off social media is the best way to find your style. Go out, look at clothes. Try them on. Don’t follow the “body type” trend. Buy things that make you happy
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who feels this way about the “before I found my personal style” videos!
I really enjoyed this video. Very concise and organized while still loaded with wisdom!
You have a unique perspective and an understanding in a sea of people who are doing this but are uninteresting. I’m subscribing because I want to see more of your knowledge of fashion. I was a shopaholic, a complete horder of fine leather goods and designer clothes. Now I just need to downsize and I sell on eBay and Poshmark. I use videos like this to see what’s trending and for pricing. It’s crazy. I’ve recently gotten a surge of buyers for my leather handbags of the 2010s. Gen Z has come into the age of consumerism and wants fashion that was trending 14 yrs ago. Crazy! 20 years ago we never saw anything repeat that fast.
You nailed it in the last 3 seconds of the video 😂 it's about the "why." Why is something trending? Why are you wearing that and not something else? Why is hard. A lot of people run from their why. I think trend following is just a way to avoid answering that question.
I really enjoyed this video! It was incredibly well thought out, and it's clear you put a lot of effort into it. Keep up the great work!
This is such a good video, I can't believe you don't have more views and subscribers! like WHAT?? Underrated much!??
you need thousands of subscribers! this channel is a goldmine and your videos are amazing ❤ keep up the good work 😘
This reminds me of 2016 when a bunch of my co workers would say “I just happen to love makeup I’m really passionate about it”. Like it is a quirky character trait, like girl the whole world currently consists of people baking contouring and using the entire color wheel on their eyes with a cut crease due to a tsunami of beauty influencers with 5-50 million followers each. Heavy contour makeup w the concealer outlined brows is not your independent quirk
This video is amazing and it actually sums up my whole idea about fashion. I was trying to watch some videos on the "2024 trends" and it's a concept that feels very weird to me. I can understand that it could be someone's hobby to follow trends and keep up with them, but for the rest of us, it's completely unrealistic. I love my converse too, i've been loving them since I was a teen, and now in my late 30s. Adidas superstar too, I have a bunch of those sneakers as well. I may have slowly transitioned from skinny jeans to mom jeans, but I will always be faithful to my high waisted ones. More rounded toe shoes, cinched waistlines and natural makeup. I know what looks best on me and I will continue wearing it, even though every now and then I do buy a "trendy" piece or adapt an older item to the current one. I also do believe that people in my country, and specidically my town (in Romania, Eastern Europe) dress very badly. I've seen sequins and rhinestones at 2 pm, fake leather pants (from black to cream to green!) at noon and half an inch of foundation on the face when strolling in the park. Maybe some don't care, but some seem to care about very poorly made clothing with a very specific tag on it "made in china"...
another thoughtful analysis in the books 🎉
One of the BEST fashion videos I've ever seen! 🙏❤
Dress how you love, not what the latest trend pushed by sadistic consulting firms and hedge funds say is "in style". Trends are pished way too fast now and i feel like jts all yo just trick us i to spending more money based on hyperreality "vibes" from digital dreams, instead of being inspired by real lived lifestyles irl.
Great video and information 🥰👍❤
As an ordinary woman who grew up trail riding horses, roughhousing with my little brother on said horses with wooden swords and living my life as a 49 year old…I wear what I enjoy, what I think looks amazing, and what makes me comfortable. I still get tons of compliments. I would advise everyone to enjoy their lives and build a wardrobe around that focus.
Such a good video!!
Great video, loved the message and the execution. The repeating message to subscribe does not fit in at all though, a subtler font and size would serve you better I think.
Brilliant video!! I loved hearing your thoughts on this 🌹
subbed and looking forward to whatever is next!
OMG, this video is so spot on!
Yay!
I think Y2K and clean girl are here to stay
I used to think I had small boobs and a wide waist. After finding my bra size and wearing clothes that are actually cut to fit me (byebye jeans) I realise I am cursed with the perfect curvy hourglass. Why cursed? Well for one it's hard to find clothes that fit (fluttery top with a high waisted A-line skirt to the rescue) and secondly because two years ago I realised 70% of my misery were actually gender dysphoria and I'm a trans man and you try looking like a man (not like a curvy woman wearing baggy clothes) with a Kylie Jenner style hourglass figure.
I loved the content until the dress for your body type part. What happen if I have a rectangular body and I don't want to focus on create a "waist" shape? Or what if I don't like the pastel colors of my "season"... I'm agree that trends are killing the personal style but all these image consultant practices are not always the best. Personal style is a journey, and yeah we should all stay away from social media, but I won't follow the tips from white man telling me what suits better for my body type and I say all this as a former image consultant I ran away from all when I realized that it was another way to restrict women.
