Amazing amount of information I wish I had known before, as a customer! I used to have glasses for close up and computer only, which were so easy and comfortable. Then the optometrist convinced me a few years later to have progressives instead as he said I need them. It has been over 2 years now and I hate them on a daily basis, I cant see properly at the computer, or when reading figures at work. Im always squinting and trying to look only through the bottom of the glasses and tilting my head back even at the pc. So irritating and uncomfortable. I think I should get 'additional' distance glasses for close up and computer only. Thanks for all the incredible education we get from you, even as a non medical person.
By all means do yourself an enormous favor and have a pair of single vision intermediate glasses made up. We also have a video called Progressives The Good The Bad & The Ugly and one on office progressives too. Progressives are OK at everything and great for nothing.
Thanks for your videos. I have yet to ever have an optometrist or optician ask me any questions about what I need. Hopefully, more professionals watch and learn from your videos. Until then, they’re helping us customers know what question WE need to ask and points of view to bring in to help be the 2nd half of the conversation so we get what we need. Thank you! 🙏
I've mostly given up on trying to convince the opticians to change their ways so instead I'm working on educating the public. When enough consumers know more than the opticians they will either be unnecessary or up their game. The schools and other training programs are so stuck in the past and teaching all the wrong things. John
Dear Laramy K! I really like your videos, you make hard things easy to understand! I have astigmatism and I still can't quite understand the correction of it. Example: with the rule astigmatism, I.e. the vertical meridian is the steepest. Correction: minus cylinder Would you please explain on which meridian will be the axis of the cylinder and on which meridian will lie the cylinder power? Thank you!
There are a bunch of other videos about that. With - The - Rule is nothing really. Just think of the shape of your eye and it just kind of makes sense that the cornea may well be steeper at 90 than along 180. It should be called the usually rule of thumb. It is a contact lens thing. There is only minus cylinder. Modern lenses are ground concave/minus backside so cylinder must be there. Plus cylinder is a difference in the way you can write lens powers. In minus cylinder form the axis will always show the power at/of the sphere and the cylinder will be 90 degrees away. -3.50 -1.25 X 50 means that at 50 degrees you have -3.50. John
I've been reading online content on astigmatism and axes and the correction of it. It is incredibly confusing! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us and clarifying things!

Just curious about your 'customer' name. How do you spell her name and is it short for Constance?
She is a Consie. Her entire family has an alternative name or nickname of some type. Why? I have absolutely no idea!
Dubbed your all VDO in Hindi language, please
i found myself doing all that in store naturally .. they don't teach you that at school unfortunately ;)
