I used to watch compilation videos of people learning instruments from day 1 until they can do something skillful. Oddly satisfying. The point of doodling is to have fun with randomness. I once drew a page of doodles off of a picture that I was looking into building house (house designs). Starting with a silorette of a car as a marker where the garage door would be I turned it into penguin then snowman once I add a scarf the scarf turned into a flower that turned into a hand for Mr Potatoe then I added surprisingly well drawn cats taking parts from Mr Potatoe. That there was a fun doodle, even more that I hardly doodled before myself but that was fun so it courage me to fill the page like I said here. Apparently people take it more seriously and that's weird. Jazza, I also want to point out your wall is a doodle. Doodling is free form.
When I was in school, doodling was when students drew pictures and stuff in their notebooks in the margins among your school notes (which I did often).

Hey Jazza, don't know if you'll get to read this, because I didn't get the chance to watch the video right away, but I'm in the hospital at the moment, and I am SO INCREDIBLY happy you made a video about doodling, it's not even funny! I want to tell you the whole story (short version). So two Sundays ago, I was rushed to the hospital for what turned out to be a second (to arthritis I was born with) and insanely rare, autoimmune disease, called TTP. When my fiance called the ambulence, I packed two little sketchbooks, and my base sketch materials, to use in the waiting rooms (I didn't know, at the time, that I was actively dying...) So, after my confusion had gone, I was in two plex treatements (fancy transfusions) and I no longer thought I had lived nearly months, in one night (near death is one hell of a drug, especially when the disease can give you brain damage... luckily which I avoided!) I wanted to get very into my art (near death is also a crazy mode of motivation let me tell you... my fiance and I also finally set a wedding date, after a 5 year engagement.) So I decided the best route for my restig body, was to doodle. I wanted to practice my lines and shapes and forms. Luckily I had made a dedicated doodle sketchbook a few days prior... and it was one of two, I had on me. When you came out with a doodling video, because of all I've gone through in the last two weeks, I was so ecstatic to have more inspirations for lines and ideas and forms. I wanted you to know, that a video you probably didn't think was all that big of a deal, made a rather large impact on someone.♡ Thank you!

To be honest, because of what the disease did to me, when I first got in here I didn't have much control over anything. I know you didn't ask, and sorry for the upcomming overshare, but when I was at my worst, all I could say was "bathroom" "birthday" and "no, not that" because I never actually meant to say those things. And most of the time I thought I was talking normally. It's so scary. I'm so glad I know what it is now so I can catch it well before it gets anywhere near that scary if/when my platelets crash again in the futute. And that's not even mentioning the dreams and thoughts I had that lead me to believe at the time that I had been there healing for weeks/months, and that my fiance had died and my son had to go live with my abusive alcoholic ex... I'm so happy to have such amazing doctors and that it was caught and treated so fast. Now I just have to wait for my body to stabilize itself.

Honestly I’m not much of an artist; I haven’t sat down and decided to make a drawing for years but I always doodle. If there’s a paper in front of me I will just naturally draw on it. Sometimes it’s a casual cartoony character and other times it’s just shapes that I turn into other things. Often because I don’t think about what I’m doing I end up with these bizarre but kinda cool pieces!

Blending doodle techniques with environment drawings was something I found quite fun. I had to put together a magazine spread about art therapy books in college and dedicated one full page to a forest scene with a little fox and old castle ruins off in the distance

One of my favorite artists on UA-cam is Peter Draws. He almost always doodles, but he does it so much that it's really refined. There's a lot of depth, and sometimes it actually ends up looking like something other than a doodle. He's really cool. You should check him out.
I think doodling is one of the best artistic exercises in my opinion. It gets you to draw whatever comes to mind and to not stress about making perfect art.

doodling is fun. you did it right at first. You just need to let your pen flow, just draw a few little pictures of legit anything. even if it is a scribble, you don't plan what you draw, you don't get stuck, you just draw. dont erase, just go.
I use zentangles to help my stress but mostly anxiety disorder. It’s relaxes me greatly, it also gets my creativity flowing. Plus, before class, it works my brain out, so that way my brain is in top shape for my lessons too.
When I was at school I ALWAYS doodled on my work, now I’m not at school I don’t anymore but I draw full on sketch/illustrations in my sketchbook instead
How to doodle: 1. Be bored at work or school 2. Get notebook, post-it, anything that can be written on, and a pen or pencil 3. Draw the first thing that comes to mind (a pattern, your boss being eaten by a bear, a skyline, etc) 4. Ignore if it's bad or if you screwed something up, it's a doodle, not a finished work of art 5. Repeat 3 and 4 until no longer bored, meeting ends, or boss catches you
You should check out Peter Draws on here. He does really awesome detailed doodles and it’s cool to watch his videos. He has such a nice voice and he could make talking about grass growing interesting. A nice, relaxing channel.

One of my favorite artists on UA-cam is Peter Draws. He almost always doodles, but he does it so much that it's really refined. There's a lot of depth, and sometimes it actually ends up looking like something other than a doodle. He's really cool. You should check him out.

I think doodling is one of the best artistic exercises in my opinion. It gets you to draw whatever comes to mind and to not stress about making perfect art.

I am American and have never heard the term “doodle” be used in that way before, but I knew what it meant immediately. It also makes the video so much funnier. 😂

doodling is fun. you did it right at first. You just need to let your pen flow, just draw a few little pictures of legit anything. even if it is a scribble, you don't plan what you draw, you don't get stuck, you just draw. dont erase, just go.

I use zentangles to help my stress but mostly anxiety disorder. It’s relaxes me greatly, it also gets my creativity flowing. Plus, before class, it works my brain out, so that way my brain is in top shape for my lessons too.
When I was at school I ALWAYS doodled on my work, now I’m not at school I don’t anymore but I draw full on sketch/illustrations in my sketchbook instead

Zentangle is also a fun doodling technique that uses continuous lines and a mix of geometric and organic shapes.
How to doodle:
1. Be bored at work or school
2. Get notebook, post-it, anything that can be written on, and a pen or pencil
3. Draw the first thing that comes to mind (a pattern, your boss being eaten by a bear, a skyline, etc)
4. Ignore if it's bad or if you screwed something up, it's a doodle, not a finished work of art
5. Repeat 3 and 4 until no longer bored, meeting ends, or boss catches you
You should check out Peter Draws on here. He does really awesome detailed doodles and it’s cool to watch his videos. He has such a nice voice and he could make talking about grass growing interesting. A nice, relaxing channel.

I love doodling! I always have. To the point where my primary school teacher had to suggest that I have a second pieces of paper next to my school work because she could not make out my work in between all the doodles on the paper. And I giggled every time you said "doodle". XD
My teacher would probably just yell at me and say “there’s plenty of time for doodling at home!”
