  • George Sr. (Lance Barber) is a loving father to his kids, Georgie (Montana Jordan), Sheldon (Iain Armitage), and Missy (Raegan Revord). Although he might not be as brainy as Sheldon, George Cooper has some incredible wisdom that almost makes us wish he was our dad. Watch Young Sheldon on TBS.

    About Young Sheldon:
It’s 1989 and 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper has skipped four grades to start high school along with his less-intellectual older brother. As he struggles to be understood by his family, classmates and neighbors, his mother arms him with the best tool she can come up with: reminding bullies his dad is the football coach and his brother is on the team. His twin sister doesn’t share his exceptional mind, but she has a much clearer vision of what life has in store for the young genius.

Best show on the air right now!!!; To imagine having your life be documented like this as we all replay the moments of our lives in where we would have changed so many regrettable choices along with yearning for those great times with our loved ones; Jim’s narration over any scene involving the foreshadowing of George’s death or a scene involving Billy Sparks and his all too real part in each of our lives as we all know someone that we wish we would have treated better growing up destroys me and proves that television at its best can provoke us all to do better within our own families and world…on 5x05 right now and that score over where Missy shuts out her father just did me in with it’s realism and being so tinged with loss. It left me an emotional wreck and that’s how I know we’re in a golden age; Just a perfect cast and story being conveyed 💖👏

It was a retcon. George Sr was introduced offscreen YEARS before Young Sheldon was commissioned. When YS went into production they chose to alter the characters of George and Mary and make them more loving parents, as reusing the character troupes established in TBBT would get pretty old pretty fast

A good amount of parents struggle keeping up with fictional shows and characters their children like, especially when it's of a certain genre. But despite George being your average sports dad, he remembered enough about how much Sheldon loved Star Trek to where it was his first idea. He cares enough to try. That's proof he loves his kids.

George is a great dad,i wouldn't be that patient with someone grabbing my boy like that. There will be no talking just a simple trip to the nearest hospital

George Sr was a GREAT father! Yeah he had his dimwit moments but he was incredibly devoted to his family, especially around kids not even his own. He enforced his sons to be real men and defended women in need

I kind of feel bad for George because obviously with big bang they didn’t intend on having a prequel series so they basically shit on his character without realizing audience we’re gonna love him ❤

George undetstand sheldon more than mary does. Mary puts sheldon in an awkward position, he sees facts mary sees god. So he is confused among god and scientific facts. Also Mary justifies some of the ungodly thing she does so sheldon become more and more confuse.

Sheldon later in life understood that his father is the one that made him successful because, while his mom or meemaw coddled him & made excuses for his behavior, his dad is what made him believe in himself when he was in doubt. Father's may give you tough love sometimes, but they are also the ones that encourage you to push through your fears. Modern culture wants you to believe that's toxic masculinity, but in reality it's teaching your kids that fear is something that needs to be overcome just like any other obstacle in life. His father made him the man & father he is now.

YS was basically Sheldon, *MANY* years after the end of TBBT and a father himself, having a "Come to Jesus moment (Bazinga)" about his dad and that his description/opinion of him in TBBT could not have been further from the truth. Did George Sr. have his faults? Of course he did. No father is perfect. But he did the best he could for his entire family and put them first, even at the cost of himself. And when the chips were down, he was always there for them to teach them right from wrong, love them, mentor them, and to both protect *AND* prepare them for the world. What more could you ask for from a father?
