Can’t put out a fire like that. But at least we know the lawn isn’t an exposure issue now. Idk how many videos I’ve seen where ladder and platforms putting water in one spot or hosing down the brick wall and not a drip of water on the fire.

0:01 In the TIME it took to lay out all that hose, the Deck Gun would have drenched the garage and all that would be left is mopping up. That means, the job would have been done LONG before the video started. How many times have I said that? 100 times? A 1000 times? As you arrive to find what's burning. You park so the DG has a good line of sight on the Visible Burning Material whether you use it or not because you may have to, eventually. Look how that straight stream is just pissing on that volume of burning material. Every second the energy of that fire could be penetrating the main part of the house. 0:10 Now watch him and think of a Fountain Statue. All through this video, that I can NOT watch from this point on, keep in mind, the fire should have been out before this video even started. Also keep in mind, this could be YOUR HOUSE and your HEROES are taking this long to save your possessions.

I watched a house fire in my own neighborhood where the dept did exactly that.. now granted im in a rather large city where lots of manpower was on the way.. the first engine on scene hit the burning garage with the deck gun which knocked the remains of the garage doors out of the way and put a good douse on the garage and the vehicle on fire within.. similar to here the fire had extended to the room above the garage.. no self venting however we all watched the blinds melting down into liquid in the window.. the deck gun operator(the engine driver) mustve seen it too as he blew out the window with the deck gun and doused that room.. by then the other units started showing up and the crew on the first engine had hydrant supply established and were stretching 2 handlines.. the house was saved though lots of heat and smoke damage to the contents.. made use of all personnel and equipment efficiently and as a result the fire didnt stand a chance.. in the case here the fire got away so much an interior attack esp on the second floor mightve been dangerous due to deteriorated floor conditions.. I have no idea the building standard in WA state.. but here in ohio.. typical new construction is simply 2x4 metal plated floor trusses and OSB for decking..

      -What does that even mean
Further, do you even have the slightest clue what it costs to staff an FD? I'm going to go out on a limb and bet you don't. Just to staff a single Engine with four Firefighters 24/7/365 is going to cost *at minimum* $2,000,000 per year. This town has a population of ~1,000 with ~500 households, so doing a little napkin math 2,000,000/500 = $4,000/year in taxes per household just to staff a single Engine.

If your lookig to critique id lay the blame oqn the department heads the chief the president of the department for starters because they have failed to train their people training and fire drills are the key to a great fire department im a 25 year volunteer firefighter now retired in the company i was in we had a mandatory training session at least once a monthn we were always dowing drills threw out the month every time we wowuld do a controlled burn of some structure we made it in to a training exercise we even involved surrounding companies so we all learned to wo together a one team my community was a small one as were surrounding communities during the day many worked outside of their community so often in emergencies 2 are 3 companies were dispatched to gain enough man power to handle any situation so training together just made good sense in 😂

I was going to be an ass and carp all over these guys. Then I looked it up and see that this town in in Egypt, not BFE but actual E. Well okay, Northwest E. So it is likely they are all volunteer. As such they probably don't get much practice at this. A regular big city fire department would have lead with the deck gun and followed with 2 1/2 hose. So no fault or malice assigned here. They did the best they could with what they had. Note the town is less than 1000 residents.
I was a volunteer once in a big city. Our worst nightmare finally came true around 1979 when an huge apartment complex caught fire on a hot summer day. We had surrounding departments send help not asked for just because they could see the smoke from over 50 miles away. The place was so iconic, everyone just wanted to say they were there. In the end, 835 apartments were burnt to the ground. That doesn't mean much until you also understand what was saved. Another 800 or so apartments were saved.

All correct very difficult when you have 3 different engine companies from 3 different departments and a lack of direction this is what happens. Now maybe this will encourage mutual drills with responding neighboring districts. Other counties in washington practice mutual aid very well some need more time. For the most part this video should be about learning and what can be done in the future.
