Let me start off by saying you guys are my favorite in the business. Always informative and entertaining. MY thoughts about this car is that it is really cool and a very unique option when comparing to the other alternatives out there. I currently have a 22 Kia Sorento S and I love it and wouldn’t trade it in at all…The one thing which I feel Hyundai missed out on was not giving us the less complicated power train. That power train isn’t the most exciting but it is adequate and the chances of you visiting the shop because of transmission or engine issue is WAY LESS than the wet dual clutch paired with a 2.5 turbo 4. Long term maintenance for a turbo (which you will eventually replace)and a wet dual clutch is more expensive. I don't know, Giorgetto had some beautiful designs in the late 50's to mid 60's for the Italians. His work with the Early Koreans did depart from his roots, but it was what they thought was progress. This new Santa Fe feels like another misguided stylistic endeavor. Time will tell.
Been waiting for this review from you guys. This is the best no BS car review channel on the internet. I like this vehicle and am seriously considering the SF. Surprisingly, I assumed you would have ripped into this vehicle. You were spot on when you shredded my 2022 Ford Exploder. My Ford dealership experience has bordered on harassment. I should have listened. My Jeep and Chrysler experiences haven’t been much better. Based on this review I will visit my first Hyundai dealer and keep an open mind. Oh, I can definitely see Terri Hemmert cruising in her rugged SF XRT.
The biggest thing keeping me from buying a Kia/Hyundai product are the dealerships. We used to own a Hyundai and the dealership was next level bad. So much worse than Honda or Toyota and I've heard that about the local Kia dealer as well. A warrenty is all fine and good but if you have to wait weeks for parts and dealer with incompetent people, it isn't as great a bonus as you'd think. Our local Honda and Toyota dealers are so much better and that makes a huge difference when you have problems.
Hyundai seems to have done a great job with this. Lots of revisions in driving dynamics, interior quality, etc. I’d personally take the hybrid with the regular 6 speed auto, and great efficiency. Looking forward to the new palisade.
a family member's relatively new hyndai suv had the engines lock up and their warranty doesn't cover the engine failure in the way that it failed. i think it threw a rod or something, i can't remember what exactly happened but the engine is totalled and Hyundai said it isn't covered. They didn't do something stupid and forget to put oil in it, either. The vehicle just quit on a highway in a semi remote area. they took the loss on the thing and switched to a VW suv. any car can have major mechanical issues but their experience and the total lack of help from the dealership, the worthless warranty coverage, and the trouble they had with getting a tow out where it broke down means Hyundai is a brand I won't even consider.
Whatever the dealer experience is, it's actually amazing in this time that in our local dealership there are 3 cars available for around $36,000 among other higher priced trims. Try that with a Toyota or Honda dealer.
So I am pretty sure I saw this exact press car broken down on the side of I-29 a couple weeks ago, with the mfr plate and everything. Goose, was this car headed to KC area once you were done with it?
Own a 2013 Santa Fe, 95k miles, no issues. Regular maintenance. I’m looking forward for the day for it to break so I can finally buy a new car. Probably not for another 5 years tho
Don't listen to the haters. They are just jealous that their junk transmission can only have warranty for 5 years. Hyundai-Kia comes with legendary 10-year 100,000-mile warranty.
I hope you guys review the hybrid version. I would love to hear about your thoughts on the hybrid platform design and driving experience. I think you'll be positively surprised!
I'm glad Hyundai/Kia's finally sorted out the stability control. I've had two Sorentos with what feels like a life-threatening tendency to cut power on assertive turns from a stop at busy intersections, leaving me hanging dead in the water in the path of rapidly approaching vehicles. I now reflexively turn the system off for stop-and-go traffic.
Dealership experience aside, Hyundai is one of my favorite auto manufacturers. Making basically everything in house, from construction equipment to road cars, they basically have a manufacturing self contained city. The infrastructure or logistics alone to accomplish that is impressive. They have leaped bounds compared to what they were 10-15 years ago and they have figured it out. Now, the dealership experience is next on their list because that's a big turnoff.
The service, even for Genesis, is abysmal. You're getting it cheap for a reason and the catch is garbage service. Since the cars have lots of minor to major issues - you'll learn the hard way (like me) that experience/service matters A LOT!
looks nice! just sucks they decide to use of an unnecessary DUAL CLUTCH 8 SPEED! like why Hyundai........... this is not a performance oriented car and not only that! Hyundai has had problematic dual clutch transmissions since the beginning of time!
My only gripe is that if you want it fully loaded you have to get 2nd row captains chairs. I had the same issue with my 2017. Had to get the SE Ultimate with the advanced tech package. I believe the only thing that was missing was full LED taillights, and some different colored trim. For this year there are a couple of cool things that are missing in the Limited compared to calligraphy
I live pretty close to a drivers village and i saw these on the lot and honestly i fell in love with the looks of it, IN THAT EXACT COLOR, i think the back is a bit funky with how low the lights are but in all honesty i still like everything else about it, and when i found the price of one these my jaw dropped, for a full sized suv and 3rd row i was expecting atleast 55k+

@@MK3504The competition is scared. Hyundai-Kia doubled sales in only 20 years. Surpassing Honda +acura and stellantis in USA sales. Hyundai-Kia is going to run over all its competition to become #1. I would hate Hyundai-Kia too, if I was a competition.
I was surprised by how small it actually is in the flesh. I expected it to be much bigger.
That's what she said 😢
it's big on the interior
@@Rew123 Man that was so funny 🤣Thanks for making me laugh

The intro music was truly good.
Excellent review as always. Unfortunately, the rear lights are too low. No way am I driving around in an SUV that looks goofy.
The front lights are too high also.

@@theschrom with the 2024?
That's par for the course when owning Hyundai/Kia trash.
I've seen a few of these on the road already. They look like the design studies Giorgetto Giugiaro did in the 1960s. Italian block styling is BACK!
You guys need to drop the full length album 🔥
I’m in full agreement with this take
a family member's relatively new hyndai suv had the engines lock up and their warranty doesn't cover the engine failure in the way that it failed. i think it threw a rod or something, i can't remember what exactly happened but the engine is totalled and Hyundai said it isn't covered.
I actually like the exterior... A lot
It's good. Unique in a good way.
🤢
Me too
Love boxy styles since I am a 80s kid. I do really appreciate Hyundai is not afraid to make new designs.
Much much better than their designs of the previous decade!
Like the exterior except for the rear. Awesome review and love the intro music.
Very strong masculine tough and modern design 💪
Excellent job on the beautiful design !!!
Whatever the dealer experience is, it's actually amazing in this time that in our local dealership there are 3 cars available for around $36,000 among other higher priced trims. Try that with a Toyota or Honda dealer.
Love this vehicle! Wow
I love how they made the Land Rover more affordable!
So I am pretty sure I saw this exact press car broken down on the side of I-29 a couple weeks ago, with the mfr plate and everything. Goose, was this car headed to KC area once you were done with it?
so helpful!! thank you for sharing all this interesting info
I could of sworn I heard a geese at the intro. 0:02
Own a 2013 Santa Fe, 95k miles, no issues. Regular maintenance. I’m looking forward for the day for it to break so I can finally buy a new car. Probably not for another 5 years tho
Can’t wait to have to replace that DCT
Right?! That's the best thing about it!!
They certainly have improved from the old dry dcts that were guaranteed to go out. These have been pretty solid for the most part, still a few issues.
@@bradleyscarreviews I love mdx
Don't listen to the haters. They are just jealous that their junk transmission can only have warranty for 5 years. Hyundai-Kia comes with legendary 10-year 100,000-mile warranty.
I hate the idea of a DCT in a heavy family hauler. Doesn’t mean it won’t last but just seems like the wrong tool for the job.
I hope you guys review the hybrid version. I would love to hear about your thoughts on the hybrid platform design and driving experience. I think you'll be positively surprised!

This looks more like a Defender than the actual Defender
Um, no.
Strongly disagree.
NO
Seeing it in person it definitely does not look like a defender 😂
I think you mean Ford flex.😂
I noticed it is a bit more expensive than they quoted it. Limited w/ AWD is 45k not 40k. The top end trim w/ AWD is 48-49k. Still not bad.
Yes, you are correct. They were about $5k off!
My neighbor has one, the rear is hideous. Overall still a great value for the money.
Until you have to deal with gremlins, problems and warranty repairs with Hyundai dealers...
Mark is hitting that roundabout like it’s his last lap on the 24hr LeMans 🤣
No rear bumper?
I only drive professional grade vehicles.
Where's the sound system test?
The way Mark drove through that roundabout cracked me up 😂😂
Guys...Only Chicagoans will know XRT, the best radio station in the history of the world.

That is a big aside.
Problem is that in 5+ years, the problems and cuts they have done to reach the price point will start to show. Not bad design that being said
Hyundai im sure has learned by now….used 2020 Palisades seem to have held up well.
Hyundai-Kia comes with legendary 10-year 100,000-mile warranty. Twice the competition.
That interior makes my '23 Pathfinder look two generations behind. Holy cow that's impressive!
The dealer experience with Hyundai is horrendous.
Depends on the dealer. I've had polar opposite experiences.
I have had outstanding experiences with Hyundai dealers and maintenance. TBH, better than my current experience with BMW’s dealership.
Ive had terrible experiences with multiple Hyundai dealerships. That turned me off from this brand real fast.
Heh, wait until you have to deal with their SERVICE DEPARTMENT! Buying is a one-time interaction, servicing is the hell...
I’ve been in Lexus, Jeep, Honda and Hyundai in the past 3 months, none of them are nice to talk or work with.
This is a beautiful vehicle, we might upgrade our Kona sooner than we wanted to
The service, even for Genesis, is abysmal.
You're getting it cheap for a reason and the catch is garbage service. Since the cars have lots of minor to major issues - you'll learn the hard way (like me) that experience/service matters A LOT!
45k-50k isn’t cheap.
Genesis is cheap? 😂😂😂

The exterior design of this SUV is redonkulous 😵💫
I live pretty close to a drivers village and i saw these on the lot and honestly i fell in love with the looks of it, IN THAT EXACT COLOR, i think the back is a bit funky with how low the lights are but in all honesty i still like everything else about it, and when i found the price of one these my jaw dropped, for a full sized suv and 3rd row i was expecting atleast 55k+
Assuming it doesn't get stolen immediately - rough seeing almost every Hyundai in Philly be stolen.
I think the Calligraphy is about $50,000 not the $45,000 mentioned. Any response is appreciated? Thanks for the helpful review and test drive.
46,500 if you dont get an a-hole dealer should pull one for 45k later this year
You're right about the FWD price, but it's a little over $50k in the AWD version.
That design could be timeless if it wasn't so gimmicky or doomed to be redesigned in a few years.
