      I used to have to rent cars a lot for business and Budget would seem to always only have Lincoln Town Cars and they would always, ALWAYS, have a tape player to the point I’d bring along a case of cassettes I had from high school.
      You’re thinking “oh, so this would have been in the 1980s?”

    I test drove last year the Crown. Absolutely loved it but was very curious about the Signia. But by the time you include sales tax, etc, etc, its nearly $60K. Above my paygrade. Went with a Venza LE. Out the door with add-ons for $40K . I get 38mpg- 46mpg on 18" wheels. I did later add after market speakers and a self powered sub woofer. Incredible sound

    I have been watching this for the last year or so, I had been considering a Lexus NX300h, and I was motivated enough to get one. Partly that was the packages associated with the Lexus, requiring me to buy a bunch of stuff I didn't want to get a built in charger, coupled with the strict simplicity of Crown Signia configuration, XLE or Limited. Granted I am likely the target market, middle-aged with adult children, but it does deliver. The market is quiet sure what to do about this car so you can get the Crown Signia XLE for $3k or so off TSRP. If you want a reasonable light lux vehicle without glitz this is good option.

  • @Olhous

    Mark, until this was released, it was at the top of my buying list. Then, I found out NO SPARE. I know; I know, there are lots of vehicles without spares. Fine. I won't be buying any of them. The run-flat tires are a fantasy - ask anyone who has owned one . . . What I really don't get is that this model, in other geographies, apparently has a spare. My next vehicle will likely be the 2026 Honda Passport. Sorry, Toyota.

  • @howlingwolf125y
    @howlingwolf125y Годину тому +2

    Except for one HUGE MAJOR problem, Toyota did a really good job on the Signia.. BUT... The huge problem is.. and I mean HUGE problem - with the Crown Signia is the far, FAR too low roofline and an overly sleekiness design,.. which results in very bad outward visibility (in all directions). This low roof also results in lack of room in the cabin, and just lack of relaxing comfort.. And the lack of good visibility is a very serious safety concern when driving the Crown Signia.. This is/was the exact same story that the Venza had. If only Toyota would have made it more boxy, much less sleek, and raised the roofline about 4" or 5" inches for both the Venza and this Crown Signia .. They would both be really REALLY nice vehicles.. Also note that the reviewer (Jack) is a great guy and great reviewer.. but I guess that he is about only about 5' 7" tall or so.. For him this Signia may work ok.. But for anyone over about 5' 9" or if you have passengers over 5' 9" - the problems I wrote above could make the Cignia not work out so well for them.. BTW.. I'm 6' 2" ..

    • @houssamalucad753
      @houssamalucad753 Годину тому

    if they lower it about 1-2 inches and make it a wagon, this would catch my attention. I want to use a cargo box without buying a hatchback (too short) or a sedan (not enough utility) and still be able to fit inside a standard garage (crossovers too tall with box). I saw a Subaru STI hatchback the other day with a roof box and hitch, that was perfect for me if it was just longer. Sadly wagons only exist with European brands, I'm not interested in Euro brands. Toyota with their dynamic assembly lines, I'm still shock they don't take a chance to add a wagon to the line up.

    • @midnitestate
      @midnitestate Годину тому +1

      Because the masses won't buy it. In Europe and Asia, they do make wagons for most there sedan models as that's still a popular option out there.
      Here in the US, crossovers and SUVs and the big sellers out side of the Camry and Corolla which still sell enough,but if we see a massive dip when the new rav 4 comes out, I expect them to slowly fade them out of the US market as well. It sucks as I like sedans and more so wagons for what they are and the price bracket they sell in, but companies nowadays have to sell in bigger margins and only keep more niche products to a minimum. That's why I'm still shocked the Miata is still around.

      1 to 2 inches is nothing a decent of springs or coilover cant fix if you really love everything else though. Sometimes you have to go the extra mile for yourself if you really want it. I can imagine it would look good though lowered to look like a nice sleigh/wagon.

  • @Dowlphin
    @Dowlphin Годину тому

    A really interesting body design! Yes, the side even looks sleek, despite being an SUV. The rear bulky but in a cool way. The front grill not a Toyota-typical scream of agony. And the wheel arches have only a small black lining and it's glossy, i.e. really focusing on looks not functionality.
    If I had to drive an SUV, this one would be among my favorites. (But I would still relatively hate it.)

But these days, I have given up on motorcycles. I worry too much. I can’t imagine having a car with no spare tire. Especially one with low profile tires, they can cause a damaged wheel. Then what? If the crown signia were closer to a V90 CC or A4 allroad in height, ie. closer to being a crown estate, and if it were PHEV, I'd probably trade out of my V60 PHEV. the sound system would have to be REALLY bad rule it out. But canada only gets the top trim, so fixed pano glass sunroof only (which suck for hauling kayaks) and gas economy isn't even rated that much better with the hybrid max drivetrain vs what i currently get with my T8 in real world use.

    I have no idea why you’d fork over the extra for an RX or NX when you get the exact same engine drone and similar levels (YES, a Lexus is nicer) of luxury inside.

    I don't understand how a 2.5L w. 3 electric motors whose performance is so lame. Just a shame there isn't a sport model version of this. I mountain bike and need to replace a Volvo V60 Polestar. This can handle the bikes but not gonna pass any coal trucks going up the mountain in this thing.

      It's tuned for economy and smoothness, not performance.
      This is obviously not the right vehicle for you. Consider a used (say, 2020-2022) BMW X3 M40i (not 30i, the M40i). It has a decent trunk enough for bikes, its powertrain is indestructible thanks to the B58 engine, the same Toyota approved for the Supra BMW partnership, and is smooth with tons of power. Mileage is just under 30 in real life driving in highway/suburban roads and 20 in town. Have had it for 2.5yrs now, it's the best all around vehicle I've ever owned. I wish it was a plug-in hybrid variant but then it would be super heavy and its trunk space would be compromised. The handling is incredible, better than most sedans.

      A sport model of this would still suck and would take away from RnD going into making this a laser focused cruiser. The people who are actually buying these want this exactly. I'm thinking of trading in my 2013 es 300h for this, 140k miles later.

    Hey, a real round steering wheel. Am I the only one who feels so old fashioned to want a normal round wheel?

    • @MrTresto
      @MrTresto 2 години тому

      Most steering wheels in most new cars are round. Even in a Tesla, look at the model 3. The model S yoke is an exception - and they finally realized people hated it and now offer a regular steering wheel, with the yoke as an option. It does have a flat bottom though. Audi tend to have flat bottom steering wheels on random vehicles like the Q5, along with the performance models of a few brands (Golf GTI, Civic Type R, BMW M, Mercedes AMG, etc). And the brands that make very low cars do that too (Lamborghini, Ferrari etc) as it has an actual utility, with everything being so low and tight, it makes it less inconvenient to get in/out.
      Which vehicle are you thinking that has a non circular steering wheel and you think should have it?

    • @JJVernig
      @JJVernig 2 години тому

      Eeuh. I wasn’t clear: I meant the steering wheel Audi introduced with the flattened bottom.
